The final day of the winter transfer window was largely uneventful, with only Chelsea prepared to spend big to bolster their title bid. Here’s a quick rundown on the main deals that went through by 11pm, with Scout Reports and Moving Target features to follow over the next few days.

Juan Cuadrado – Fiorentina to Chelsea
With Andre Schurrle leaving for Wolfsburg earlier in the day, Jose Mourinho boosted his options in the final third by snapping up the Colombian from Fiorentina as Mo Salah headed out to the Serie A side on loan. Versatile enough to play in any of the three attacking midfield slots, Cuadrado’s best hopes of barging into the Blues’ first XI could be on the right flank at the expense of Willian, who has managed just a single goal and assist in 22 league appearances. Cuadrado arrives on the back of four goals and as many assists in Serie A this season but whilst he may manage to get past Willian on the right, he faces a tougher challenge to oust Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and Oscar in our Fantasy affections. Coming in at 8.5, he’s slightly more expensive than Oscar (8.4) ahead of showdowns against Villa, Everton and Burnley in the next three.

Robert Huth – Stoke to Leicester
Having played just four minutes for Stoke this season, it’s fair to say that a loan move to the King Power Stadium should boost the German’s chances of greater pitch time. The Foxes have been far from resilient so far and managed just four clean sheets – given that skipper Wes Morgan has played all but one league match, there’s a fear that the 4.7-priced Huth’s arrival could threaten Marcin Wasilewski’s run of 14 straight starts and potentially deprive us of a 4.0-priced starter in our 15-man squads. Banned for Gameweek 24, Huth then faces three difficult road trips (ars, eve, mci) with a blank Gameweek 27 prior to his visit to the Etihad. With three goals and an assist to his name, though, Jeffrey Schlupp’s out of position potential on the left flank has already served up three goals and the Ghanaian, at 4.5, is the most appealing option here.

Wilfried Zaha and Lee Chung-yong – Man United and Bolton to Crystal Palace
Zaha’s loan deal at Selhurst Park was made permanent by Alan Pardew after he failed to convince at United, whilst Lee joins in a deal that sees Barry Bannan move to the Reebok on loan. Despite praising Zaha’s recent loan displays, the new Eagles boss has started him in just one of his first three Gameweeks in charge and turned to the 5.1-priced midfielder as an impact sub late on in matches. Although Yannick Bolasie could potentially still be out of the picture for two more league outings, Pardew also has Dwight Gayle and Jason Puncheon offering alternatives out wide, suggesting Zaha and Lee face a struggle to nail down a spot in the XI. For now, Puncheon’s two goals and an assist in three under Pardew has made the biggest impression. Over 85,000 snapped him up last week ahead of upcoming clashes with Leicester, Newcastle, West Ham and QPR in the next six, though the Eagles’ numerous options out wide clearly offer Pardew the option to chop and change.

Filip Duricic – Benfica to Southampton
Having sold Jack Cork to Swansea on Friday, Ronald Koeman bolstered his central midfield options by acquiring the Serbian on loan from Benfica until the end of the season. An attacking midfielder, Duricic has fallen out of favour at his parent club and failed to impress at a loan stint with Mainz 05 earlier this season, with no goals or assists over 11 appearances. His arrival merely adds to Koeman’s options out wide, though, and with Dusan Tadic, Sadio Mane and Eljero Elia all vying for the spots on the flanks, Duricic faces a tough task to break into the Saints’ XI.

Aaron Lennon – Tottenham to Everton
Roberto Martinez bolstered his attacking options by snapping up the Tottenham winger on loan until the end of the season. A peripheral figure at the Lane, Lennon has played just eight minutes from Gameweek 15 onwards and he’ll be hoping a move to Goodison can reignite his flagging career. At 6.2, he’s cheaper than Kevin Mirallas and Ross Barkley, but with the likes of Aiden McGeady and Steven Naismith also offering Roberto Martinez options on the right, it remains to be seen whether he can nail down a regular role in his new surrounds.

Davide Santon – Newcastle to Inter Milan
The Italian’s loan return to his native country lessens the competition at left-back for Newcastle under John Carver. Santon has failed to break into the Magpies’ XI since recovering from injury and the new man in charge has instead turned to Massadio Haidara in the last two matches. At just 4.1, Haidara strengthened his case for a regular role by serving up an assist in the weekend win at Hull, serving up an 11-point return in the process. Next up, it’s Stoke, Palace and Villa in the following four.

WC to keep me in the top 1k is lock and loaded:

    Pant Krul
    PVA Terry Wisdom Zouma Clyne
    Haz Caz Boyd Sterling Sanc
    Kane Giroud Kun

Had to ditch Silva to Sterling to squeeze Terry and Giroud in but very happy with this.

Solid team. 3 Arsenal might unbalance your attack but if they keep up their performances then the triple up could work well.

Looks pretty standard, Claw. Can't see it going too pear shaped with that squad. Main thing for you will be your captaincy choices. Double Chelsea defense could be quite a nice little differential up there though. Provided Zouma plays those games in which you start him 🙂

If he's the only nailed on Arsenal midfielder and you got him at 10.5 or less I think he's still pretty much a must keep. He could end up just as prone to rotation/rest as the others, but I still think he's the favourite for most minutes the rest of the way, assuming his hamstring really is nothing.

alright let's see what FFS thinks..

    defense is

    Panti - Krul
    Wolly - Terry - Wisdom - Alder

    and am replacing Bertrand..

was looking at Clichy, Clyne/Fonte and Jones (all stand out options)

should I just flip a 3 sided coin? or just grab the double Soton (with Wanyama and Morgan back) and be done with it

That's a very fair point, I was convinced Arsenal would go back to 2013 and close off games at 2-0 in our race for 4th. Pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

I'm on Wally & Giroud with a look to see how Ozil develops as a prospect. I really hope he nicks Cazorla's place, as much as I love Cazorla, I prefer Mesut.

problem is that Cazorla hustles a lot more than Mesut which Arsene should value in tougher games..it'll be interesting to see who drops out with a fit Sanchez..my gut says that Wally is nailed no matter what but we'll see I suppose

Don't forget that Wenger paid 47 mill for Ozil. I think that factors in more than we'd like to believe when he's picking the team sheets.

yeah but even still I don't think it should affect Wally..he brings something to the team only Sanchez does and if I was Wenger and had them both, they'd be starting on opposite flanks every game..would be a nightmare to defend against and no opposition team would be able to have their fullbacks provide extra width without the risk of being caught out on lighting counters..

That is valid but then it would either leave Cazorla or Ozil out of the team...or him being forced to play a 4141 with Ramsey out of the team...all very sticky. Rotation imminent. Until one of the above gets their next injury I guess which knowing Arsenal won't be too far off!

on the bright side, so far it's looking like Sanchez may also miss Spurs which makes the rotation worry nonexistent and then we'll see the Arsenal lineups for Leicester before the lock!

                    My ideal front 6

                    ---Coq Rambo
                    Wally Ozil Sanchez
                    --------Giroud

Rambo Wally and Sanchez running onto Ozil's balls. Oh my.

basically all our goals will become Ozil to a posted up Giroud, lay off back to Ozil, through ball/ ball over the top to XXXX, Goal.

yeah it's just a question of how Arsene manages your mids..it's not out of the question too that only one of Coq/Rambo starts in easier games and they pack the offensive capabilities with both Ozil/Caz central

                        11 years, 3 months ago

With a 4-1-4-1 I still think its the same 6, just with Ramsey advanced. Wengers never really played two ball players centrally so I don't see Caz coming in for Rambo there.

I was thinking perhaps Fonte for the extra 0.1m he frees up but with Toby already in my side I guess that's too 'stagnant' of defensive coverage as their only attacking threat is from corners

Mata seems to be on the periphery when he's got everyone at his disposal. I wouldn't make that transfer.

I haven't been impressed with Spurs as a whole for a while now, every match capable of being summed up as "Eriksen and/or Kane rise to the occasion", I didn't think it was sustainable and was punting on Pelle picking up some form vs a beleaguered Swansea and vs QPR with the returns of Victor and Morgan to the fold to solidify the entire XI

I sold Kane too for similar reasons. Just glad I bought Giroud to ease the pain.

ah see I did buy Giroud as well so Pelle was in my 3rd striker slot..

basically what I did was go against my gut instinct which was to leave plenty of cash in the bank for flexibility..I just prioritized the above opinion over that..

but in the end with Wanyama and Schneiderlin supposedly returning for QPR (Toby too potentially) it bodes for a solid lineup..if Pelle gets a haul there and Kane blanks vs Arsenal then it's all a wash anyways over the two weeks

Same. what's really annoying is I was on Kane with money ITB so I could upgrade Giroud to Sturridge in the future. Then I forgot why I had that money ITB and upgraded Kane to Pelle and can no longer get Sturridge easily :/

        http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015/02/01/arsene-wengers-injury-update-on-alexis-sanchez-impact-for-totten/

Asked at his press conference if Sanchez was close to making the game, Wenger said, reported by Arsenal.com: "He was not very close today."

still very early, but honestly Wenger would never forvie himself for breaking Sanchez for a match Arsenal is capable of winning without him ahead of the CL knockouts

And not only that. I really don't think he had much say in the Falcao signing. And while I get annoyed at RvP starting every match, I can understand while he hasn't dropped him. So then Rooney in CM doesn't seem so insane does it. Annoying but not insane.

    Hazard - Sanchez - Cazorla - Sterling - Moses
    Aguero - Sturridge - Kane(Cisse)

Oscar you say? Might be an interesting punt that, curious as to how Cuad and him will play off each other on the right. Cheers mate, will think about that move

yeah his fixtures are gorgeous and mids need to take more of the burden with Costa out. Also as muppet said, I wouldn't want to double up liverpools attack.

If I go sans Sterling, it'll definitely be down to Wally/Ozil or Oscar for sure. A Pool double up may be premature at this point, you're probably right. Thanks for the much needed insight Balders

Lose Sanch. I feel you on the Studge punt but may be a bit premature, especially with Sterling in the team.

Hmm, yeah Studge may be a punt too far but I have confidence both Sterling and Studge will outscore Silva/Falcao, or AdM/Giroud or any other combo of player that isn't in my team already. You may be right on the Sanch call Mupps, could be just what I need to smash into the top 20k if he misses out again for the NLD. Risky move that, I did get him at 10.4m so he's still of value in my team. Will ponder on this for sure Muppet, thank mate

How do you all think Downing will go at home against Man United this week?

Utd are weak at defending set-pieces, so will surely get at least an assist..

He was playing in the double pivot at Anfield, you better hope he moves further up the pitch against United...

I dont think it takes players form/role in consideration and i'll take Utd's fixtures over Sto's..
