These are difficult times for Granville. Sadly for him, his prediction that Diego Costa’s studs played into my hands along with Emre Can’s ankle proved correct – the Chelsea villain pushed me into a Gameweek 23 Wildcard and I cashed in.

It left Granville spitting feathers and 92-points behind but he remains defiant. Even with the millions draining from his squad via his active Wildcard, my resolute co-host is not giving up on keeping the season alive and the rivalry as bitter as ever.

We weigh up Granville’s latest options in his quest to close the gap: analysing the contest between Sturridge and Aguero for our place in our forward lines, check in on the fallout from the Sanchez injury, whilst wading through the usual regulars ahead of another Gameweek.

Pay your dues via this link or mark up the deficit via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Is it losing worth 0.3m in order to play Chadli over Boyd this week? Worried that Chadli might not start

Moses or Walters for a 5th mid?

Walters will probably be shifted back to the wing soon and Moses has some nice stats. Could Moses actually be the better option?

I went Moses on WC last week. Lucky me.

It was a flip flop. I had Walters at one point on my team but then again I was tinkering for two long weeks so there aren't many I didn't have. Went with flair in the end which honestly is sort of atypical of me as I love a pen taker. But what's done is done.

Only player on the team who I think would take over him is Charlie Adam and it's mighty tough for him to take them from the bench 🙂

        🙁

Any thoughts on Gayle, Walsh? I know he started on the wing against Everton, but he still had one cleared off the line, right?

That is correct he did. I'm still baffled as to what Pardew will be doing consistently or if there will be any consistency at all in our lineups from here on in. We just have so, so many attacking options. I'd only really want Gayle in my team if he was playing off the shoulder of another striker in a 442. I'd monitor at this point, but I do love that man and think he is just as clinical as they come.

Cheers. I just brought him yesterday on my wildcard because he's maybe 85% the way to a price rise and then I looked at the fixtures and stats and found I kinda liked having him.

Yeah it could work out beautifully. Again, he really was unlucky to have his shot cleared off the line last game. Stones or Jags if memory serves. I was really considering him too but went with Cisse instead 😀 Punters gonna punt!

I don't think there's much in it but I think I still prefer Walters. Obviously he'll probably never get another hattrick but I think he's a better finisher than Moses. I still remember carrying Moses as my second Liverpool attacker over Suarez for a couple weeks last year. He would get so many chances and fluff them all.

You are right about the finishing aspect. Moses does have a lot of creativity though and provided 4 assists in a row earlier in the season. I'm not sure I can say the same for Walters who on the wing won't get as many goal scoring opportunities.

That's true. Will he move back to the wing, though? It seems like he's ahead of Crouch in the pecking order and Diouf can play on the wing as well.

Diouf is a striker though. Now that he's back he'll slot straight back in. Walters only started up front because Diouf was away and Crouch has no form.

I don't really want to waste too many transfers on a sub though. It makes sense if its a big hitter like Cazorla or Silva but surely not for a 5th mid.

Even more reason to not plan for something that might not happen, rather than picking on form. If they do switch form, they will both probably be on the bench anyway. You will make money on Walters bandwagon as well.

I have Giroud and Cazorla. What do you think to the tactic of bringing in Silva this week rather than Walcott/Ozil then waiting for the Arsenal team sheet on Tuesday night before tripling up?

    1. Walsh

I think it's wise, but I hate spending back to back transfers on the same bloody lineup spot. Could just be a personal thing there, though.

Nah, I'd probably keep Silva, Walshy. Depends on whether I boot ADM and Sanchez (Hazard, Cazorla, JWP the other 3 mids).

        1. Walsh
          • 12 Years
          11 years, 1 month ago

Yeah I don't know about Silva still. He really did me dirty last season...so of course I missed the boat on him around Christmas time. Think he may be my Yaya of the year. Then again, he always seems to score well when they play with one up top. Could be my stubbornness getting in the way once again.

I usually avoid Silva too as I don't see a goal threat in him, but I really think Pellegrini will go 4222 with both Bony and Aguero. Many are saying that is detrimental to Silva as he'll be shifted out to the left, but Citeh will be back to scoring 3/4 goals a game with those 2 up top with Silva creating the chances.

I reckon it will make him a better prospect than playing in the hole with only Aguero up front. Particularly when teams park the bus.

It's looking a really crucial time of the season with all these midfield options!

            1. Walsh
              • 12 Years
              11 years, 1 month ago

My money would be back to the 442 with him more wide. Never seemed to bring home the returns in that formation, but I can't say I've ever seen him taking so many pops on goal or making runs into the six yard box as I have in recent games either.

    Forster (McCarthy)
    Clyne Bellerin Zouma Kompany Wisdom
    JWP Silva Hazard Sterling AdM
    Kane Gayle Kun

Can I go to battle with this WC team?

not sure how to structure/spend on my defense, the first three below are guaranteed on WC

    Terry // Pva // Bellerin // xxx (one of naughton/hutton/dummet/wolscheid) // xxx

    - The 4th def would be between 4.3 and 4.5m. (cant think of anyone

Good evening Sir's and Siresses. What do you think Sanchez and Austin to Silva and Giroud? It leaves me without enough funds to bring Sanchez back in though. Or do I go with a cheaper option? I have 2 free transfers

Very true. Austin is going to go before his blank though. There needs to be space on the bench in GW 27 for Hazard, Ivanovic, Kane and Lloris. Austin will go at some point before then and in the long term needs to become Costa. Maybe I will sit on it

I think the risk (however small) of Sanchez not playing on Tues might just push me into selling him this week. IF he plays, i have cash to buy him back (despite losing value on him). If he doesnt, his next game isnt for another 2 weeks...he'll be 10.8 by then!

silly question, but Aguero is an essential for Saturday... right?

it means a -4 ...taking out Giroud and Di Maria for Sergio + Mane

    or

-8 ...taking out Giroud, Gibbs & Di Maria for Sergio, Zouma and Cork

    ...can i go without Sergio?

So I can either swap Sanchez for another heavy hitter or I can swap Brady for a 5.9 and bench Sanchez.

I'm a late adopter on Sanchez so I've got no investment to lose. It's a no-brainer to sell him, right?
