The weekend cup defeat by in-form Liverpool may have paused Palace’s recent momentum but the narrow 2-1 reverse means Alan Pardew can now concentrate solely on Premier League matters. After producing three wins and a draw in five top-flight matches since their new manager rolled up to Selhurst Park last month, the Eagles now sit five points clear of the drop zone with 13 rounds of fixtures remaining.

Bearing in mind that Palace managed just three wins in their first 20 league outings prior to Pardew’s installation, it’s fair to say their form is very much on the up. With that in mind, we turn to the latest addition to our members section – the Team Profiles and Comparison Tool – to assess the impact of the former Newcastle boss as he looks to replicate Tony Pulis’ 2013/14 heroics and steer Palace to safety. These tools allow us to pinpoint any areas of improvement and/or issues of concern, in addition to highlighting the players who have benefitted most of all.

All United will have ahead of them is Liverpool (probably), once they are in the semis.
Can't believe they are well on their way to the least deserving FA cup ever.

Arsenal have a new tactic in the big games though. Sit back and do sweet FA - worked against City didn't against Spurs. If they attack they will win but i think it will be a stalemate

It's pretty sad that one of the biggest clubs on this planet has to go a goal down to a 3rd division side in order for them to play with a bit of urgency. That is all the manager's fault in my opinion. He gets paid to make sure his players are prepared to compete regardless of the opponent. I'd be really worried about Man U's top 4 prospects if I was a fan.

For Spurs DGW I'm not sure if I want to do:

    A) Defoe and Wollscheid to Kane and Rose for free
    B) Defoe and Walcott(QPR) to Kane and Eriksen for free
    C) Defoe, Walcott and Wollscheid to Kane, Eriksen and Rose -4.

Which do ye prefer? Seems a shame selling Walcott before qpr. Have Sanchez though.

Tough draw for Arsenal. Can't see Utd losing this one but you never know...Arsenal got form and a lot of their key players back. Koscielny injured would be enough for their season to go badly though.

I think United can get extremely effective just if they line up this way.

    -----------------------------de Gea
    ---Rafael-----Jones------------------Rojo-------Shaw
    --------------Blind----------------------Herrera
    --Young--------------------------------------------di Maria
    --------------Rooney----------------Fellaini

    No joke.

Yeah, and Fellaini as impact sub striker. I like that.
Honestly, RVP and Falcao should stay away from the team if they want to do any good this season. After all, how more lucky will they get?

And fwiw, i think Falcao has done pretty well, if you disregard the fact that hes missing most of his opportunities. I know you cant really look past that seeing as he is a striker, but if you compare RvP to Falcao, i think its pretty safe to say that Falcao contributes way more than the fatiguing RvP, whom i suspect mostly keeps his place due to his relationship with LvG, the tactical genious.

Di Maria and Herrera on the left may look nice going forward but would be a disaster defensively. Neither of those players take pride in that part of the game. Alexis/Walcott/Welbeck on the right wing could easily exploit that lineup.

As enticing as that may look to you, it would be defensive suicide and its not very different to the way they started the season, barring the braindead Fellaini @ striker pick. People thinking Fellaini would do well as a striker reminds of the same type of people thinking Baines would make an exellent LW/LM. Neither are good ideas, which is why no real manager considers it.

That doesnt make him a good forward, and he was never good at DM either. His best performances came when Moyes let him linger between the lines and let him dual. Thats his strength. He has poor technical abilities, hes slow, he cant finish very well. Hes a fighter, and fighters dont make striker at top tier teams. He needs so much to be effective, and you just cant sacrifice that much if youre a top team.

He's very good in a rough arse sort of a way. If the bottom line as a forward is how many you score then he has never let anybody down when played in that position.

He scored well his last season at Everton, but he never really played as the top forward then either. Im fairly sure it takes more than some knuckle-goals to play striker for a world class club such as United. I think the day you settle for a Fellaini type striker is the day you lose that title.

Not nailed on by any stretch. He`ll get gametime, but i`m fairly certain he`s at best equal to Markovic, and behind Lallana and a little ahead of Balotelli. Sturridge will start most games if he remains fit ofcourse, Coutinho looks like he needs a little rest, but barring injuries i think Ibe is always going to get rotated unless he just keeps delivering MOTM performances whenever he plays.

Gonna find out a lot about BR over the Ibe pick. Will he have the balls to ditch his own star buys over a player who is delivering top performances like Ibe has been...Tough call for him.

Why would he? We have many games going forward, and we now finally have the opportunity to rotate without it costing very much in terms of quality. Ibe is a great talent and we pulled him back from Derby for a reason, but hes really only played 2-3 games, and every game wont be as high quality. Ibe will get games no doubt, but hes far from nailed on. Frankly hes just not as good as say Lallana, who you lable as a star buy.

Uhm, why? He has literally no promises of offensive returns. Look at his history in the bpl, and then compare WBA`s attacking prowess to the best teams under Fergie`s regime. I think he does the job if you want a placefiller and nothing more, but have very low expectations.

May play more attacking? Do you think he suddenly turns into a capable CAM just because he takes a step down in terms of team quality? Hes still the same player, hes got little to prove besides the fact that he wants to and can play football again. Hes just not an attacking player, in mindset nor ability.

he may adapt to a slightly more attacking role such as Sissoko did at Newcastle when he first joined; a defensive player historically.

Thats simply not true, Sissoko was always a box to box player, and his games/goals ratio hasnt improved much if at all, and thats not particularly comforting when you compare the BPL to Ligue 1. Meanwhile Fletcher isnt a box to box player, so its very unlikely that hed develop into that after two years of illness.

They were a surprise because most people didnt know much about him when he first joined. After all, your average fan dont know very much about mid tier Ligue 1 clubs. But if you look at the stats, theyre not vastly improved, if at all. However the comparison with Fletcher has no grounds.

So your logic is that hes playing for a worse team creating fewer chances, therefore he will become more attacking with higher chance of scoring goals. No, that simply does not make sense to me, im sorry.

No my logic is that he would never be deployed anywhere but defensively at MU, due to their abundance of attacking options. This isn't the case at WBA, he can make a pass, he's a good player, maybe he will get more chances to show attacking intent at the Hawthorns. I can see you disagree but that is my opinion, like it or not 🙂

It's very simple. 4.5 sitting on the bench is better than 4.9 sitting on the bench if you need the cash elsewhere. Plus Colback is facing a 2 game ban and you'll get zero returns from him then.

Fletcher will pick up his share of clean sheets and is capable of the odd goal or assist. He's nailed on to play because he's the WBA captain. What more do you want from a 5th midfielder?

      DDG
      Ivanovic Clyne PVA
      Oscar ADM Sanchez Hazard
      Kane Aguero Defoe
      (Hamer Bellerin Boyd Naughton)

      1ft 1.8 itb

Was planning to save ft this week
      Gw27: Oscar to Mane
Gw28: ADM Defoe to Eriksen Costa

Now with Defoe a doubt it's making me reconsider saving ft as if he misses out he has United away next week anyway , so...

      A: Defoe > Diouf
      B: Defoe > Sakho
      C: Defoe > Pelle
D : Save and play Bellerin and get 2ft rolling

*note A, B and C would eventually mean a -8 to get Eriksen and Costa gw 28 but D could mean losing points over the next 2 game weeks

There was a lot of talk about it being game week 28 but it seems as if it's not confirmed tomorrow it will be getting a bit late to plan it so it would be very unlikely

I like it because it's similar to mine which at the moment is:
          Moya, Wellenreuther
          Bellerin, Bernat, Wallace, Zouma, Suchy
          Bale, Brahimi, Gotze, Özil, Pogba
          Ronaldo, Messi, Müller

All quite interesting but surely the comparison to other teams/players is what we want in FPL. Palace were not much early season so does and improvement make them good options or just not as bad as they were.

Ah very true. The stats may not mean much in isolation, but this article is enhanced simply because of the way the team has played with Pardew back in. Could make for an interesting comparison between West Brom as well from an attacking perspective fwiw

I think their appeal is increased for sure, especially if there emerges a clear attacking contender from the side, (ARS, whu, sou, QPR, sto). Think this run will be the first good test of Pardew's side, away matches vs teams higher up and a rival in the mid table in Stoke. I'm hoping one of Gayle or Punch really boost their appeal soon, I like the way Palace plays and their attacking intent is fun to watch as well

I can see a lot of Costa captains out there this week, with 117K people bringing him in this week with a mid week game to come (hoping for a slight injury to keep him out this weekend) and a blank to come.
