We cast an eye over the new injuries sustained during the weekend’s ten fixtures this evening. Problems mount for Palace up front, Newcastle’s concerns continue, whilst United’s misfiring Dutchman is set for ankle scans after Saturday’s loss at Swansea.

Aston Villa
Kieran Richardson was forced off during the first half of Saturday’s home loss to Stoke due to injury.

Crystal Palace
Fraizer Campbell was withdrawn during the Eagles’ home loss to Arsenal after picking up a hamstring problem. Marouane Chamakh failed to feature against his former club due to a similar complaint.

Liverpool
Mamadou Sakho missed today’s clash with Southampton due to a hip problem, the Reds’ official twitter feed has confirmed.

Man United
The Red Devils are sweating over the fitness of Robin van Persie after the Dutchman left the Liberty Stadium on crutches after sustaining an ankle injury Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Swansea. United are expected to know results of scans on the Dutchman by some point tomorrow.

Newcastle
Daryl Janmaat limped off with a groin problem during the Magpies’ 5-0 hammering at the Etihad on Saturday evening. Manager John Carver confirmed:

“He has got a tight groin. I don’t think he’s too serious at the moment, but it is tight and we took him off as a precaution.”

QPR
Niko Krancjar limped out of the R’s narrow loss at Hull on Saturday and was replaced by Armand Traore on 78 minutes.

Southampton
Steven Davis was replaced at the break during the Saints’ home encounter against Liverpool after picking up a knock.

Sunderland
Billy Jones missed the Black Cats’ goalless draw with West Brom due to injury.

Stoke
Erik Pieters was replaced with five minutes remaining of the weekend win at Villa due to injury.

West Ham
Carlton Cole was forced off due to injury during the Hammers’ draw at Spurs this afternoon.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Point being, captaincy picks are going to be tough in GW27. Ozil could be as good as anyone!

True but you'd likely go for an Arsenal player I would have thought.

Decent choice and not a tick above decent, I think.

Giroud (C) this week for me I think.

Hasn't blanked in any of his last 6 starts in all competitions - 5 goals and 3 assists in that time. Everton are dodgy at the back, and he's getting a lot of chances created for him at the moment - expect that scoring run to continue.

    1. Lallana_
      11 years, 8 months ago

How sure are you he will start? 3 games in around 10 days.

      He's got:

      Monaco
      Everton
      QPR
      Utd (FA Cup)

I think he'll play for Monaco, QPR and Utd.

      1. Ludo
        11 years, 8 months ago

Pretty certain. Think there's a good chance he'll be on the bench for the QPR game though.

        1. Lallana_
          11 years, 8 months ago

Fair enough. Let's agree he'll start 3/4 of these. A 75% chance isn't too bad and Wenger may make hints.

    2. Walsh
      11 years, 8 months ago

Can't fault it. Probably safest choice of the weekend.

    3. Perri
      11 years, 8 months ago

City have scored 9 goals in the past 2 GWs. Regardless of the opposition you'd have to be mad not to captain Aguero.

      1. Ludo
        11 years, 8 months ago

And Liverpool have kept 5 clean sheets in their last 6 GWs. Has to be a balancing act between form and fixture.

        1. Perri
          11 years, 8 months ago

I forgot Sunderland and Villa had better strikers than Aguero...

Thinking of using my second Wildcard, as a few players Unexpectedly didn't start this weekend. How does this look?

    BEFORE

    Panti - HAMER
    Dawson - Bellerin - Clyne - AZPI - BAIRD
Sterling - Hazard - WARD PROWSE - WALCOTT - CAZORLA
    Aguero - Kane - STURRIDGE

    AFTER
    Panti - MANNONE
    Dawson - Bellerin - Clyne - IVANOVIC - NAUGHTON
    Sterling - Hazard - BOYD - OZIL - SILVA
    Aguero - Kane - GIROUD

    anyone got other suggestions? 🙂

    1. 9I6
      11 years, 8 months ago

Also tempted to get Nasri and keep Cazorla so that I can upgrade a defender instead.

      1. Waddup Mané

Nasri would be a good pickup. what about coutinho...

Perfect time for me to get Azpilicueta out. Southampton and West Ham could nick a point against Chelsea as well.

Looking at Cisse or Sahko for 1 week only.

I guess Cisse & Cresswell look the best combo, y/n?

What, in your expert opinions, would you do here to stop the rot

    Foster
    Terry PVA Fonte Naughton Haidara
    Hazard Mane Walcott Sanchez Boyd
    Aguero Giroud Kane

2.2 ITB, WC still in tact

I'm concerned about not having Silva/Yaya, Costa, Sterling, think my team is getting mouldy

          toss a coin?

    3. Ruth_NZ
      11 years, 8 months ago

Two Arsenal mids and both the wrong ones is your problem in my view. One should become Ozil, the other should become Eriksen next week (and he can be kept till you take wildcard).

Giroud should then become Costa or Sturridge in GW 28. That should get you rocking.

      1. bigbudgie

Yes...this is it....was along the same lines I'm thinking. Great advice thanks

Southampton the most likely to hold a clean sheet this upcoming game week?

If so, would Terry > Clyne for -4 be worth the hit given I would only have 10 players without taking a hit?

    1. Mataatti
      11 years, 8 months ago

Chelsea def is essential to have for long term, but so is one from Saints.. Go for it and get Iva or Terry for next week

    2. bigbudgie
      11 years, 8 months ago

Nope, I don't see WBA being too generous to a Southampton attack that isn't actually full of goals

  12. Mataatti
    11 years, 8 months ago

Strugling to find a replacement for Oscar:

    Safer choices:
    A: Sterling
    B: Moses/Walters (Kind of a punt)
    C: Nasri (Have Silva already)

    Punts:
    D: Siggy
E: Blind/Fellaini (Just for one week)
    F: Mane
G: Downing (Overrated on my opinion)

    Thoughs?

Why Terry & Clyne are messes?

      1. Sz21
        11 years, 8 months ago

Clyne my season keeper. He isnt going anywhere.

Terry is ok but I want to release some funds and think Zouma may be a better bet long term.
(With 4 other decent defenders it is worth having him I think)

That's why- I'm thinking of going
Terry/Wisdom out this week and Wasil next week.. PVA isnt helping now either tho!

Looking at getting Bertrand/Pieters/Zouma in.. (maybe Bellerin)

Better than some, worse than others.

67 pts here so I'd say decent. Doesn't get me anywhere I want.

    RMT please

    Panti - Foster
    Terry - Bert - Moreno - PVA - Wasil
    Cazorla - Haz - Oscar - ADM - Boyd
    Aguero - Kane - Defoe

    2ft and 0.8itb.

    What transfers should I make?

    1. Waddup Mané
      11 years, 8 months ago

      same situation.

I'm not sure what to do with PVA Wasil and Moreno...

Was thinking about dropping Moreno since he has city anyway, as well as Wasil

Then pick up either 2 of these

      Naughton
      Dawson
      Haidara
      Bruce/Mcshane

      1. Waddup Mané

        Or do Toby and Naughton

    2.2m ITB 1 FT

    Heaton (Panti)
    Kosceilny, Hutton, Wollschied, WISDOM (Terry)
    ADM, Sanchez, Boyd, Elmohamdy (Hazard)
    Aguero, Defoe (Kane)

Wisdom --->>> ?????? or save FT for DGW and hope he plays (which is very unlikely)

i think if you are spending big on the chelsea back line, you have to go for ivan

if you are just looking for the clean sheets, go zouma

Please tell me that Interstellar wasn't nominated for anything. I would rather pick up dogs poo than watch that movie again. The worst movie of this era. No doubt

Sound editing and visual effects, that's it.
