We cast an eye over the new injuries sustained during the weekend’s ten fixtures this evening. Problems mount for Palace up front, Newcastle’s concerns continue, whilst United’s misfiring Dutchman is set for ankle scans after Saturday’s loss at Swansea.

Aston Villa
Kieran Richardson was forced off during the first half of Saturday’s home loss to Stoke due to injury.

Crystal Palace
Fraizer Campbell was withdrawn during the Eagles’ home loss to Arsenal after picking up a hamstring problem. Marouane Chamakh failed to feature against his former club due to a similar complaint.

Liverpool
Mamadou Sakho missed today’s clash with Southampton due to a hip problem, the Reds’ official twitter feed has confirmed.

Man United
The Red Devils are sweating over the fitness of Robin van Persie after the Dutchman left the Liberty Stadium on crutches after sustaining an ankle injury Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Swansea. United are expected to know results of scans on the Dutchman by some point tomorrow.

Newcastle
Daryl Janmaat limped off with a groin problem during the Magpies’ 5-0 hammering at the Etihad on Saturday evening. Manager John Carver confirmed:

“He has got a tight groin. I don’t think he’s too serious at the moment, but it is tight and we took him off as a precaution.”

QPR
Niko Krancjar limped out of the R’s narrow loss at Hull on Saturday and was replaced by Armand Traore on 78 minutes.

Southampton
Steven Davis was replaced at the break during the Saints’ home encounter against Liverpool after picking up a knock.

Sunderland
Billy Jones missed the Black Cats’ goalless draw with West Brom due to injury.

Stoke
Erik Pieters was replaced with five minutes remaining of the weekend win at Villa due to injury.

West Ham
Carlton Cole was forced off due to injury during the Hammers’ draw at Spurs this afternoon.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Any getting rid of Terry?

          I completely disagree.

Austin has form, rest, and the drive to earn a transfer to another club (QPR in big relegation trouble).

He has two home games against Arsenal (who don't often keep clean sheets away) and Spurs (don't keep clean sheets in general).

Plus, you'll have to pay 5.8+ for a Spurs defender that will actually play both games.

Woops. Misread that - Austin has more points potential by far than a Spurs defender IMO. Also have Giroud as my third striker - would be very hard to drop him before the QPR game, but I have a feeling he might be rested for it, as against Leicester.

Yep. I'm happy to drop Giroud for the QPR game, it's away and Arsenal have a lot of potential goal scorers.

And yes, he could be rested.

Don't think so. Tempted by Austin, but I'd have to give up Giroud and he could score a brace vs QPR. Kane and Kun my others, and they stay unless injured

Thinking Terry out for a hit.

    How does the math work?

    Hit = -4
Playing full 11 man = +2 for missing player (90 min). To make the hit pay the replacement must have 50% chance of CS, i.e. 50% x 4 = 2 points?

    Foster, Myill
    Terry, Clyne, Wollscheid, PVA, Wisdom
    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Cazorla, Lucas
    Aguero, Giroud, Kane

    2 FT, 0.1 ITB

Thinking Wisdom and Lucas to Ibe and a cheap rotation defender like Haidara. The plan is to get Eriksen in for Santi next week. Any thoughts?

For all those transferring JT/Ivano out on the basis of Matic being suspended, you might find it useful to know that Chelsea are going to appeal the red card.

Howard Webb was on Sky yesterday along with Gary Neville and he said the "violent conduct" is not a red if it was below neck level. Barnes was pushed at his chest and the point remains that a more lenient ref wouldn't have even booked him (see Vertonghen's case yesterday for example)

I'm not banking on the FA to be fair here but a similar case of Wayne Routledge red card had been rescinded recently. I wouldn't usually have any hope. For a change, the whole media / other fans are on Chelsea's side and this could be FA's big chance.

Here's hoping. Matic has been our best player and it would be a shame to lose him in such an unjust manner.

The F.A always seem very reluctant to change decisions . The usual reason given is changing decisions undermines the authority of referees or something like that

Could be the easiest way to cop out though. Rescind Matic's red and leave Barnes alone, which would be very annoying.

While I feel for Matic and understand why he did what he did, running at a player and pushing him down is violent conduct. I can't see the FA reversing it.

I'm not a ref, so Webb probably knows better, but I don't see that being reversed. Would rather see retrospective action taken against Barnes.

Violent conduct for sure. But does it warrant a straight red is the question? We've all seen so many shoves/pushes get away with just a yellow and in this case when you consider the circumstances, it's got to be a yellow at best.

Can't see it being reversed either. The FA will be worried that it sends out a message that it's ok to shove the opposition after a bad tackle. Barnes should get retrospective after that challenge but the FA won't be lenient towards Matic.

Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have expected it either. The circumstances in the game were simply abnormal as a result of poor officiating. Had Atkinson taken the game under control, the game would have been done and dusted in the first half.

Besides the FA is under a lot of pressure with the Mourinho campaign talk. The media has universally swung in favor of Mourinho. Let's see if FA follows suit.

I have PVA and Defoe (and 2 FTs) and will be sorting PVA out first. Might as well play Defoe at OT and go for Austin after.

Your one week Defoe replacement not only has to outscore him at OT but it's pretty likely that you'll be spending 4 points on PVA somewhere down the line if you're not using this opportunity, so he'll have to outscore that too. In one match...

In hindsight you can have the dream team every week aswell as picking the top scorer as captain each week

Suarez gave Ivanovic his goalscoring powers by biting him.

Same and I hate his price. Surely he'll stop scoring...

At 7.5 he will be next season's Baines. NBNC is now yesterday's news.

Is PVA to Wollscheid a good transfer? My budget to replace PVA is 5.1m. I have 2 FTs. Any other decent options?

It's Wollsheid or Bellerin for me. Dawson unless you already have him.

Is Wllsheid a goal threat though?

Yes, when Wolls is defending his goal, you can feel the threat.

    Real Madrid's top goalscorers

    Raul (1994-2010)
    323 goals
    741 appearances

    Alfredo Di Stefano (1953-1964)
    305 goals
    392 appearances

    Cristiano Ronaldo (2009-present)
    290 goals
    281 appearances

My team is ruined for this week 🙁

    Foster (Pantilimon)

Bellerin Fonte Dawson Van Aanholt (Terry)

    Walcott Sterling Mane Boyd (Hazard)

    Aguero Falcao (Kane)

Who the hell do I captain?

RVP left the stadium in a protective boot so I guess he is out this weekend so Falcao will be back.

Falcao > Austin for the double though.
