[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

This lunchtime, we’re updating you on those players who are just one mistimed tackle or display of dissent away from a two-match ban. At present, four players – Gareth Barry, Phil Bardsley, Lee Cattermole  and Neil Taylor – are on the precipice with nine yellow cards to their name and will be tiptoeing their way towards the April 12 cut-off date.

Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed the omission of Jack Colback from our suspension shortlist – much to manager John Carver’s ire, the Newcastle midfielder picked up the crucial tenth yellow for throwing the ball away in frustration after being pulled up for a foul during Saturday’s 5-0 hammering at City. The 25-year-old’s ill-discipline means he’ll sit out home ties against Aston Villa and Manchester United

Gareth Barry served a one-match suspension by missing Everton’s encounter with Leicester City and will now need to time his tackles perfectly if selected to face Arsenal’s elusive forwards next weekend. Meanwhile, Lee Cattermole returned for Sunderland following a six-match injury break, giving the no-nonsense midfielder the near-implausible task of refraining from any rash challenges for six Gameweeks.

With no new additions to the nine-yellow club, Blues duo Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas remain the most high-profile candidates just two slip-ups away from a spell on the sidelines. Southampton and Aston Villa have the most representation – with four each – among those players needing three yellows or fewer to topple off the tightrope.

In terms of players serving out suspensions, Joey Barton and Nemanja Matic both face three-match bans on the grounds of violent conduct, with the latter reacting to a dangerous tackle from Burnley’s Ashley Barnes. Upon further review, the FA decided not to take any further action against the Clarets’ forward, citing the fact that referee Martin Atkinson witnessed the incident as justification for sticking with the on-field decision. Nonetheless, Chelsea are reportedly set to appeal Matic’s ban.

Elsewhere, Ron Vlaar was given his marching orders after being shown a second yellow card for hauling down Stoke City’s Victor Moses in the penalty box last weekend, meaning he’ll sit out Aston Villa’s Gameweek 27 clash away to Newcastle United. Likewise, West Ham’s Morgan Amalfitano will play no part his team’s upcoming London derbies against Palace and Chelsea, having seen straight red in the Hammers’ 4-0 FA Cup defeat to West Brom.

Finally, Southampton welcome Ryan Bertrand back into the fold for their match-up with the Baggies next weekend – the former Chelsea left-back sat out the third and final match of his suspension during Sunday’s home loss to Liverpool.

Is there a 8.8 midfielder other than cazorla on anyone's radar?

Plan on doing Giroud to Austin and Walters to Eriksen however am fielding 10 this week and am willing to take a punt on someone for a -2.

Which you think scores highest here?

    (A) PVA (mun), Bellerin (qpr), Austin (TOT, ARS) + 4 points

    (B) PVA (mun), Vert (SWA, qpr)), Santi (qpr) + 4 points

    (C) ADM (SUN), Bellerin (qpr) & Austin (TOT, ARS)

    (D) ADM (SUN), Vert (SWA, qpr)) & Santi (qpr)

How does this side look? 4 transfers away (-4 hit next week, as I have 2 frees this week)

    Pantilimon
    Kompany - Terry - Jones
    Sanchez - Hazard - ADM - Mane
    Aguero - Giroud - Kane

    Krul; Moses, Dawson, PvA

        Yeah ADM should be Erik.

        Transfers would be

        Wisdom > Dawson
        Trippier > Kompany
        ADM > Eriksen
        AJ > Moses

4 point hit over a 2 week period.

Odds on a Bellerin start at the weekend at this stage?

Suppose it all depends on the Monaco game ..
If he starts and comes through 90 mins.. will he likely be starting again or a serious rotation risk?

I have never seen so many questions asked about cheap defensive transfers... I know we all want to play 10-11 this GW, but is it not better to use a transfer to make an attacking change vs. 1 or 2 point defenders?

Yeah getting rid of PvA is premature imo. And if I had Defoe I'd keep this week. By sorting out bench fodder, I mean getyinf rid of the likes of Wisdom and Lucas, who have either been dropped or injured. Perfect opportunity to clean up the bench with 1 or 2 transfers.

What would you change? 2 FT.

              Krul (Foster)
              Clyne - Bellerin - Clichy - PVA - (Terry)
              Sanchez - ADM - Sterling - Elia - (Hazard)
              Aguero - Defoe - (Kane)

Would get rid of Clichy imo. Unlikely to keep a cleansheet this week anyways, and as you've seen he's fad from nailed on. So long-term it's best to get rid for someone you can trust. If you'd like to keep, consider selling Elia. He is really poor, and likely to be dropped soon imo.

Makes sense. Which one do you prefer Elia > Moses or Clichy > Cresswell. Koscielny would be ideal but a Bellerin double-up not ideal...

No worries. Don"t like one week punts on defenders, or doubling up in defence.

Same here. Which is why I was thinking of Defoe > Sakho. But I needed to remove Elia in any case so this might be the best week for it.

I don't want to lose Fabregas or Kane, or Ivanovic. So I'm benching them.

Which leaves me with a defense of Clyne, Wisdom, PVA and Wilkinson. So I need to move two of them just to get 10 starters. Thankfully I have 2 FT.

Would you ship Wasilewski or PVA this week? Neither likely to start this week. I have only 0.3 million in the bank. Selling PVA allows me to get Wolly/Naughton who have a decent chance of a clean sheet this week.

What the heck do I do with this line up? 2 FT, 0.3 ITB:

    Krul

    Naughton/Clyne/Bellerin/PvA

    Caz/Sanchez/Puncheon/Silva

    Aguero/Defoe

    Foster/Hazard/Terry/Kane

I'm thinking either PvA to Dawson or go for the points and do Defoe to Sakho?

"I decided on BVB because Borussia is best for me," the 25-year-old told Kicker .

"Dortmund is my home town, my family lives here and I have my friends here. And anyway there is a life after football, you know?

"But winning the Bundesliga remains a big goal of mine. I want to experience once what will happen in the city then!

"I will give my best to make it happen and I have a strong feeling that we will reach it one day."

Well it certainly would be nice if Reus stayed.

      Monreal isn't nailed on.

First choice at the moment, but he has struggled in the past couple of games, so I wouldn't be surprised to seem him dropped for Gibbs.

Alderweireld, West Brom, Bellerin for 4.9.

My current defence is: Ivan, Clyne, PVA, Bellerin, Wisdom.
Obviously I'm going to sell Wisdom. I already have Krul, so I wouldn't double up with Haidara. Also I have Lucas injured too. And 2FT of course.
    I can't get Dawson for 0.1.

Best defender for 4.3m(or less) only for this GW?
I was thinking about Naughton, Haidara, Wilson, Bruce/McShane or a Villa one. I only need a cheap nailed on defender for the blank.
I think Burnley will score at home, so I don't know is Naughton is worth the punt.

Facing similar issue...not sure any of those teams will keep a CS, but think newcastle most likely. If you don't want to double up, I'd say Wilson or Naughton, Bruce/McShane, Villa in order of most to least likely for CS (bit of a toss up though)
