[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

This lunchtime, we’re updating you on those players who are just one mistimed tackle or display of dissent away from a two-match ban. At present, four players – Gareth Barry, Phil Bardsley, Lee Cattermole  and Neil Taylor – are on the precipice with nine yellow cards to their name and will be tiptoeing their way towards the April 12 cut-off date.

Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed the omission of Jack Colback from our suspension shortlist – much to manager John Carver’s ire, the Newcastle midfielder picked up the crucial tenth yellow for throwing the ball away in frustration after being pulled up for a foul during Saturday’s 5-0 hammering at City. The 25-year-old’s ill-discipline means he’ll sit out home ties against Aston Villa and Manchester United

Gareth Barry served a one-match suspension by missing Everton’s encounter with Leicester City and will now need to time his tackles perfectly if selected to face Arsenal’s elusive forwards next weekend. Meanwhile, Lee Cattermole returned for Sunderland following a six-match injury break, giving the no-nonsense midfielder the near-implausible task of refraining from any rash challenges for six Gameweeks.

With no new additions to the nine-yellow club, Blues duo Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas remain the most high-profile candidates just two slip-ups away from a spell on the sidelines. Southampton and Aston Villa have the most representation – with four each – among those players needing three yellows or fewer to topple off the tightrope.

In terms of players serving out suspensions, Joey Barton and Nemanja Matic both face three-match bans on the grounds of violent conduct, with the latter reacting to a dangerous tackle from Burnley’s Ashley Barnes. Upon further review, the FA decided not to take any further action against the Clarets’ forward, citing the fact that referee Martin Atkinson witnessed the incident as justification for sticking with the on-field decision. Nonetheless, Chelsea are reportedly set to appeal Matic’s ban.

Elsewhere, Ron Vlaar was given his marching orders after being shown a second yellow card for hauling down Stoke City’s Victor Moses in the penalty box last weekend, meaning he’ll sit out Aston Villa’s Gameweek 27 clash away to Newcastle United. Likewise, West Ham’s Morgan Amalfitano will play no part his team’s upcoming London derbies against Palace and Chelsea, having seen straight red in the Hammers’ 4-0 FA Cup defeat to West Brom.

Finally, Southampton welcome Ryan Bertrand back into the fold for their match-up with the Baggies next weekend – the former Chelsea left-back sat out the third and final match of his suspension during Sunday’s home loss to Liverpool.

As a Kolarov owner I've looked at the fixtures and makes sense that Clichy plays Liv then Kol plays leics.
Having said that, Kol played away ar Stoke so who knows 🙂

I'm leading my moneyleagues by around 30 points but I feel more unsafe now than ever this season.. willing to take a -8 or -12 next week to fix my team.. but I think I won't take a hit this week even if I have 2.5m ITB.. hoping 11 players will play! Relatively good to go?

I can get 7 starters out of my squad. Might get one or two 1-pointers too. Only have 1 ft so I could get 9 starters for a hit.

Alternatively, I could WC, get a solid 11 this week and still have 4/5 dgwers next week.

    Thoughts?

They'd be long term transfers. Otherwise the likes of Baird, Wisdom and PvA may be stuck on your bench for a long time. I'd probably take a hit and remove Baird + Wisdom hoping that PvA would play.

Surely with him being rested/rotated/whatever he is not nailed? Nailed means week in/week out no doubts, no?

Oh apologies. He does seem to nailed on to me. Pacier and offers more of an attacking threat than Chambers. Chambers wasn't overly impressive at the weekend either.

    Krul, Pantimillon
    Terry, Jones, Koscielny, Dawson, PVA
    Hazard, ADM, Cazorla, Oscar, Puncheon
    Aguero, Giroud, Kane

    2FT

    Terry > Wollscheid
    Oscar > Silva

    Seem fair enough?

I think I'd prefer pva to someone else like haidara. Chelsea can still keep cleansheets without Matic, and Stoke find it hard to get cleansheets

I'd prefer Alderweireld but no idea when he will be back.

need the cash from selling Terry to upgrade Oscar to Silva, who is fast becoming essential at that price.

Alderweireld is good pick. I think he has attacking potential too

Would like Austin but it would mean dropping Giroud/Aguero.

      Rose for sure.
      I can't get Eriksen if I don't sell Silva.
I'd rather keep Giroud against QPR.

Spurs defence - needed for DGW?

I can sell Jones for say Toby or someone else that price, or just hold one more week and get a Spurs defender

I can't get 11 out so I'm concentrating on this weeks points this week, not sure Rose will play 2 and even if he does spurs always concede,
6pts this week>4pts in the dgw.

        Doesn't have to be Rose

I have 2 FTs this week, so may as well use one

It's just whether I take a 1 GW punt and move out one of Walcott, Mane or Defoe then sell Jones as part of a -4 next week

or sell Jones this week and have no Spurs defence for DGW

Am tempted to try and get Skrtel instead after this GW

Rose or Walker IMO. Walker has history to explode in double GW's
