With Chelsea and Tottenham out of contention this week, Fantasy managers are eyeing up the premium price bracket for potential replacements in the centre of the park. Whilst Spurs’ double Gameweek 28 will surely persuade Christian Eriksen owners to hold, the Blues’ pair Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas have been subject to significant transfers out this week after struggling to pick up the points in recent matches.

Fabregas, in particular, has afforded his 33% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) owners cause for concern after serving up just two assists since the turn of the year. Hazard’s single strike and two assists in six has been boosted by nine bonus points, but with the Belgian’s goal threat very much on the slide, there are a number of options available for those looking to freshen up their five-man midfields.

In our second members article of the week, we cast an eye over four pricey midfielders – David Silva, Mesut Ozil, Raheem Sterling and Angel Di Maria – whose recent form is very much on the rise. The quartet have all delivered returns in three of their last four league appearances and are starting to find consistency as the battle for our Fantasy attention heats up.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

4th place in the PL is a trophy. Last 16 of the CL is a trophy. And that is the extent of Arsenal's ambition.

Terry was top class a few years ago. Nowhere near now. Stones is another who's proved nothing. Did you not see his sending off last week? And who is Richards?

            I meant Williams of Swansea.

Stones is still young but I really like the look of him, I'd rather have him than Varane at Chelsea personally.

JT has slowed down a bit but pace was never his game, in terms of positioning, reading the game and bravery he is still as good as ever.

Ah yeah Williams does deserve a shout. Good CB.

Potential means nothing until it's been realized though. So any player who hasn't had at least one solid season at the least of consistent quality football doesn't deserve to be mentioned.

And of course Terry is still top class eh. And that Cavani goal was Cahill's fault, right?

Exactly, biases on his attitude aside, he's conceded seven fouls in 26 PL matches this season. His positing is still top class, and thank god he's been to cover's Cahill defensive woes this season.

      NO!

The bookies will make the same amount of money regardless of the result as they set the odds such based on the amount of money bet on each result!

So ignorant. That's not possible when the odds are set before any bets are placed. You are spouting the theory but the practise is very different.

The odds are altered very quickly, and should there be heavy bets on one result, the bookermaker will lay it off with another bookie.

But yes I am ignorant for thinking the first £50k bet is actually meaningless in the grand scheme of betting.

It is very, very rare for fixed odds football bets to be changed. But never mind, you understand the theory but the practise is somewhat different, I can assure you.

              Hello Ruth_nz

Yes, at one time fixed odd prices for football were virtually never changed, mainly due to in-shop football coupons, with prices ready printed and distributed. I'm talking pre-internet mind 🙂 where most, well, all bets were placed via the football coupon. Since the internet revolutionised betting, football prices do now shift, but they are still a very stable market, this is because betting firms have many football specialist odds compilers who all communicate with each other and offer prices only within a narrow overall book percentage and the big brands do still resist changing the coupon price...so, essentially, yes, bookmakers can face large liabilities given a certain result

I think that Ginkapo is referring to the inherent value that bookmakers build into each price, the book percentage. so, for example, if the true chance probabilities in a 3 horse were evs, 2/1 and 5/1 a bookmaker would offer odds of 4/5, 6/4 and 4/1 and thus 'guaranteeing' a profit whatever the outcome
