The problems mount for West Ham in defence ahead of their trip to the Emirates. Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is out for up to four weeks with a hamstring injury. Tim Sherwood could welcome back Christian Benteke and Ron Vlaar to the Aston Villa set-up, Baggies boss Tony Pulis sweats on the fitness of three of his strikers, while Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is available for Monday’s trip to Swansea.

West Ham forward Enner Valencia lacerated his big toe in a freak domestic accident that involved stepping on a broken teacup. The 25-year-old Ecuadorian required stitches and, according to manager Sam Allardyce, is unlikely to feature in the Hammers’ trip to Arsenal on Saturday. Winston Reid is unavailable due to a hamstring problem, whilst Big Sam – who is also without the on-loan Carl Jenkinson against his parent club – has been hit with another blow in defence after James Tomkins sustained a suspected dislocated shoulder in training yesterday.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been ruled out for three-to-four weeks with the hamstring injury that forced him off during Monday’s cup win at United. Arsene Wenger has also conceded he’s uncertain when Jack Wilshere will be available to return due to ongoing ankle concerns. Mikel Arteta has returned to full training and is expected to be available for selection in three weeks’ time.

Steven Gerrard declared himself available for Liverpool’s face-off with Swansea City this Gameweek. The talismanic skipper has recovered from a hamstring complaint that kept him sidelined for the Reds’ previous seven matches.

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood could be boosted by reinforcements at both ends of the pitch, with news that Christian Benteke and Ron Vlaar are set for late fitness tests ahead of the Sunderland clash. Furthermore, Libor Kozak is on the comeback trail – after he broke his leg more than a year ago – and returned to full training this week, though is still a couple of weeks away from a first-team comeback.

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has few injuries to contend with as he prepares for their home encounter with Hull City. Dean Hammond (calf injury) and Anthony Knockaert (family reasons) are the only absentees, with goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel back in the squad following a broken metatarsal.

Mo Diame is still absent with a knee injury for Hull, though manager Steve Bruce has confirmed the midfielder is set to return to training next week.

Tony Pulis faces an injury crisis up top on the eve of the Baggies’ clash against Stoke City, with Victor Anichebe, Saido Berahino and Brown Ideye all doubts for the fixture. In addition, winger Callum McManaman is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks after he took several blows to his injured foot in recent substitute appearances.

Meanwhile, Chris Brunt could be available for selection against the Black Cats despite being charged by the FA for allegedly directing threatening words at referee Anthony Taylor in West Brom’s Fa Cup defeat. The 30-year-old midfielder has opted for a personal hearing next week, which should enable him to feature in Gameweek 29.

Sean Dyche confirmed that Burnley boast a clean bill of health as they gear up for a visit from Manchester City. Matt Taylor is nearing a return after he clocked 70 minutes for the Development Squad on Tuesday but needs more match fitness before he’s reinstated into the first team.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

    C) upgrade Hamer to foster for probably just 1 gw and use up more cash?

Only 3 points between me and my rival for our €100 mini league...
Lucky son-of-a-britches is running me close this year.

    Me:
    Panti
    Jagielka - Zouma - Bertrand
    Hazard - Ozil - Henderson - Cazorla
    Kane - Aguero - Sturridge
    (Foster - Clyne - Fonte - Boyd)

    Him:
    Lloris - FOSTER
    Yoshida - Yun - Dawson - Williamson - O'Shea
    HAZARD - Silva - Eriksen - Sanchez - Walters
    KANE - AGUERO - Austin

    Which would ya prefer? 😀

    B) Wollscheid -> Ivanovic (SOU) and double up with Terry

    1. Pompel
      • 12 Years
      10 years, 11 months ago

Save - a bit hestitant on Terry + Ivanovic double-up, a lot of funds tied up. You might want Sturridge for the runi in. I'd rather look at Ivan + Azpi for the DGW to save some funds. So rather Terry -> Ivan than option B)

Hmm, I just think Chelsea will keep many clean sheets for the rest of the season. Ivan and Terry both have brilliant attacking threat (Ivan especially). Could be a good differential.

I doubt I'll want Costa for the DGW so this is also planning for my 3 chelsea players for then too, and if I do Terry -> Ivan it'll mean another transfer being spent later on a third Chelsea player (which will likely be Terry)

    Krul (Forster)
Terry - PvA - Bellerin (Clyne - Haidara)
Hazard - Silva - Eriksen - Mane (Boyd)
    Giroud - Kane - Aguero.

    Agree with the benchings?

Dunno why people come to the conclusion of diversification on a defence with differnt players from differnt team, as statistically you would need to diversify accross 15 different teams to actually get any advantage. Am I not right thinking this?

I'm doing Aguero. Feels like the safest bet, if it doesn't work at least i won't be kicking myself for taking unnecessary risks. Assess if you're chasing or leading in your leagues though, as risk is necessary when chasing sometimes.

I don't think any of those 3 are a risk really, gotta fancy City to turn in a performance against Burnley though and the City points are more likely to involve Aguero, whereas Arsenal and Chelsea poinfs could be monopolised elsewhere.

First time poster....so please be nice !!

Good to go....(between Kun and Giroud for Captain)

    DDG
    Bellerin - Dawson - Terry
    Silva - Downing - Sterling - Eriksen
    Aguero - Giroud - Kane

    (Myhill - Clyne - Hutton - Tiote)

Yep, nice team, i like it. I have both Bertrand and Clyne, so i'm going to play Clyne only along with Bellerin and Dawson, and bench Bertrand. Can't blame you for benching him this week though since you have good replacement options. Keeper looks good, Terry is great obviously.

Midfield = similar to mine, bit scary not having Hazard i could imagine though. The main stand out flaw is Downing, i gave up on him weeks ago and have been happy with that decision, West Ham have struggled, but maybe with good fixtures he will see an upturn in form. I also have Sterling but i'm not liking how he's being used at RW and RB almost recently, so i'm considering Silva in for him. Your side looks good to me though. Strikers = Sweet, no problems at all.

Keep in mind Chelsea have a double gameweek in the not too distant future, so drafting in a Hazard/Costa would be helpful for sure. (Keep in mind Costa is on 8 yellow cards currently though, and 10 = 2 game ban).

Did have Fab but sold for Eriksen due to DGW (and also bought an C'd Kane!!).
Looking to get Hazard at some point.

Agreed about Downing and Sterling. Am currently 40 points clear at top of mini league, but to stay there midfield does need improving

Got this team, not sure who to captain though, Aguero hasn't really been at his best

    Gk:Ospina(Forster
    Def:Bellerin-Van Aanholt-Terry(Moreno-Wilson)
    Mid:Eriksen-Hazard-Coutinho-Ozil
    Att:N'doye-aguero-Kane

I thought of ozil as he's been good at the emirates..

I don't tend to take risks with my captain choice. Not that it's paid off recently!
Ozil is differential enough already and there are at of others in that arsenal midfield.

If you wanted to take a real chance then N'doye could be the one! He's scoring well at the minute and although he's away it's only Leicester.

Everyone around me will be captaining Aguero so I can't afford not to. If you're playing catch up though you've got to be brave!
