With Swansea and Liverpool yet to play out the Gameweek tomorrow evening, we take a look at the new injury worries caused by the weekend’s nine fixtures.

Chelsea
Willian was replaced by Juan Cuadrado with just eight minutes remaining of today’s home draw with Southampton after picking up an injury, according to match reports.

Crystal Palace
Alan Pardew is sweating over the availability of a couple of key first-team players after Jason Puncheon (hamstring) and Wilfried Zaha (hip) were both forced off during the weekend win over QPR.

Everton
Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Kevin Mirallas missed today’s win over Newcastle with a knock sustained in Thursday’s Europa League victory over Dinamo Kiev. The Belgian is expected to recover in time for this week’s return trip to the Ukraine, though, after failing a late fitness test earlier today.

QPR
Rio Ferdinand missed the trip to Selhurst Park due to illness, the club’s official website has confirmed. The R’s right-back Darnell Furlong was replaced by Clint Hill at the break in Saturday’s defeat at Palace after sustaining a calf complaint, according to manager Chris Ramsey:

”Darnell came off and the only reason he did so was because his calf stiffened up and it wouldn’t have been fair to keep him on. He didn’t come off because they scored two goals.”

Southampton
Eljero Elia missed today’s trip to the Bridge with a twisted ankle, according to the local press.

Stoke
Jonathan Walters was forced off on 67 minutes with a head injury following a collision with Craig Dawson in the Potters’ 1-0 loss at West Brom. Erik Pieters was withdrawn at the break, whilst match reports indicate that Victor Moses was replaced on 57 minutes due to injury. After the match, Mark Hughes gave an update on the former and admitted he has concerns over Walters’ availability:

”Erik should be ok next weekend, but Jon is our main concern at the moment. He looks as though he has a nasty bang on his cheekbone which may well be a fracture and that will have to be checked on Monday. We hope it isn’t but it’s looking as though it could be a serious one that will keep him out for a few games.”

Sunderland
Steven Fletcher was subbed off injured on 82 minutes after sustaining what appeared to be a thigh problem during the Black Cats’ 4-0 home hammering by Villa.

West Brom
Tony Pulis faces an anxious wait on Ben Foster’s fitness after the keeper was forced off with a knee injury during the Baggies’ win over Stoke, whilst match-winner Brown Ideye was also withdrawn late on with a similar complaint.

After the match, Pulis confirmed Foster is set for scans after sustaining the injury in a challenge with the Potters’ Peter Crouch:

“We will have to get him checked. He felt his left knee go from under him. We need him fit.”

West Ham
The Hammers keeper Adrian played from start to finish in the 3-0 loss at Arsenal despite dislocating his finger in the warm-up. Assistant boss Neil McDonald revealed post-match:

”He’s been a brave lad today because he could easily have pulled out. And he’s made some great saves. He has his finger strapped up to play and I’m hoping that if he played today he should alright for next week. He did it in the warm-up but he wanted to carry on. I haven’t ever dislocated my finger so I don’t know how much pain he was in but it’s obviously a big thing for a goalkeeper.”

Everyone talking about bringing in dgw players and getting in rubbish Leicester defenders and even Austin is crazy. I've stayed away from differentials and stuck to template picks and flying up rankings. Moved up to 1800 now by just keeping it simple. Ditching aguero or Kane could be genius or complete madness. I put my money on madness.

    Thoughts?

Most aren't ranked very high, no reason to play it all safe if you're chasing.

      Nice rank Congratz!

Keep Kun IMO but thinking about ditching Kane for Costa for the double then keeping Costa for the run in.

My point is, let everyone else go for the differentials and fail. Playing it safe is a differential in itself. Aguero giroud Kane strike force. 4-5 premium mids. Don't keep chopping and changing. You just miss points. Chelsea defender, Southampton defender, bellerin or ospina, one or two west brom. Keep it simple. I wasted a transfer last week. Saved transfer the dgw because I didn't want eriksen or rose long term. People are over thinking the game

Playing it save means staying put? You, my friend, are exercising status quo bias. I think perhaps you are mistaking a "safe" strategy with an "easy" strategy. The easy thing to do is to stay put - it doesn't mean its the right thing to do.

Personally I see this game as very singular. Whatever players my opponents have in their team makes absolutely no difference to what players I put in my team. & why should it? At the end of the day the aim of the game is to get as many points as possible, and each individual decides this based on their own judgement. So if an individual feels that ditching Aguero is right idea then so be it. They shouldn't care whether other people have Aguero or not.

To be precise, I am not saying you are wrong, but you are certainly not right. If you think Aguero and Kane are going to maximise your team's potential then so be it. However if another person thinks that there are better options then they are not wrong either. It is not a right/wrong game.

To conclude, I hate "ownership", "differential", and whatever terms people use to justify transfers. It makes no blooming difference. & if you counter-argue with "if Aguero scores a brace then you're toast" - well its not that simple. I have other players that can score braces as well. Its all swings and roundabouts

Good point wizard. I try pick my own players too. I hate when people get swayed by this site and complain when it fails. I personally think Kane and aguero are better picks right now... I think defenders and 4th mid spots are where people should gamble and pick different players in. I spend all my transfers chopping and changing 3rd defender half the time.

So this is my first season on FPL. Just worked out that the GWs when I take a hit = 75% chance of a red arrow, and without a hit = 75% chance of a green arrow...

    1. Berbalove
      • 16 Years
      10 years, 8 months ago

Could also be a result of taking hits when you expect a poor GW.

    2. Holmes
      • 12 Years
      10 years, 8 months ago

Dont think it works like that. Obviously it depends on timing and over long term it should result in green arrow.
Taking hits for punts and getting rid in couple of weeks is hit and miss, can result in green or red arrows.

Knowing when to take a hot is key. If a player is injured that your ditching for example automatically halves the hit if you need to play the incoming player. Dgw hits are generally halved too if for a player your happy to keep long term. Always long term thinking when doing hits

Or he's told him to keep is head down (apart from PSG) and not get booked at all.

I'd like to see him keep the same team, can't see it happening though.

Pool have some really quick players and could exploit Mata, Blind. I expect Rojo (if fit) and probably ADM to come back into the starting team.

Frustrating when your ML leader has the same starting 11 as you bar 1-3 players.

    Rose + Eriksen + Austin > Toby + Mane + Giroud -4

I have Rose, Eriksen & Kane. Personally I am ditching Rose because as others have mentioned the clean sheet potential seems to be lacking. I believe that Eriksen is perhaps a player who is more immune to fixtures so I will keep him for the short term. Same thinking with Kane (he had good opportunities vs ManU).

Come GW33-34 however I will consider moving Kane and Eriksen if other players are performing to the same/better standard and also happen to have a DGW

This. I got him at 4.8! Might look at ditching Aguero.

Actually, i'm beginning to think the missing fixtures might get moved to GW37, and GW34 will be a non event.

So who are we planning for assuming Arsenal & Liverpool get DGW34?

    Chel - Haz, Costa & Terry/Ivan
    Arse - Sanchez, Giroud & Bellerin/Chambers
    Liv - Sterling/Coutinho & Def

Then are we looking at Villa, Sund & Lei?

    1. Holmes

      Chelsea: Hazard, Terry, Ivan
      Arsenal: Giroud, Ozil
      Liverpool: Coutinho, Skrtel
Maybe Defoe/Benteke/Kramaric as punt that week...

I doubt Liverpool will have a DGW34. It will be GW37. And i'm starting to wonder, due to the lack of news, whether all the missing fixtures might move to GW37. Worth baring in mind.

So tempted to do Eriksen out for Mane this GW

    Eriksen
    - Eriksen has Leicester
    - Eriksen fixture is solid
    - Spurs will look to bounce back after Manu game

    Mane
    - On fire
    - Consistent compare to Eriksen
    - Saints has good fixtures
    - Pelle is a donkey hence Mane seems to be playing as forward almost

    What's everyone's opinion on this?
