Our first delve into the members data this week sees us assess the recent displays of Sergio Aguero, Diego Costa and Olivier Giroud and take a look at the “Sherwood effect” on Christian Benteke as Villa prepare for double Gameweek 31. We also check out the form of Swansea and Tottenham’s playmakers as the fixtures turn kind for both clubs.

    1 have 2 FTs. Which one should be my priority?

    A. Panti/Rul -> Myhill (no WBA)
    B. PVA -> Toby (double up)
    C. Sterling -> Mane
    D. Kun -> Benteke (I'm serious)

      PVA to Toby I guess. I have 3 SOT defensive players so I'm all for that.

      I think C is your best offensive move here tbh, and I think the latter also leaves you in a better position come the BGW. Mane - (BUR, eve, HUL, sto) vs Sterling (MUN, ars, NEW, Blank) assuming Pool beat Rovers of course.

      B also sensible as that's risk free and gets some great house cleaning done.

                  Yeah captaincy is tough this week, that's why I'm taking a punt. WBA are still solid and City will be down on confidence if they lose to Barca. Tricky decision.

                    Leicester seeming a bit more solid too. Someone posted about how they havent conceded to a striker in a while. Giroud seems the obviously choice but I feel last week was the week to captain him. MIght be just chasing points 🙁

    Not too many pressing issues with my 2 FTs

    A) Puncheon > Mahrez
    B Puncheon > Philips

    This would free up funds to get Silva in for Sterling or Eriksen next week.

    Or I could do Foster to Ospina. Forster my other keeper.

      Depends on the fixtures for your other mids in DGW 31 and 34. Which one would play?

      1. bdwhite91
        • 14 Years
        11 years, 24 days ago

        They'd be bench fodder mainly. Just need to fund Silva. The main appeal with Mahrez is he has a DGW, but he doesn't get returns. I'd be playing Downing as my 4th mid unless I play McAuley or PVA in a given week.

          Sure, that's why you need to look at the key weeks when you'll need them Phillips won't have a game in GW33, would you pick him for his double in GW31, or Mahrez in 34

          Not that they're bad per-se, but they're very much not looking at all threatening as of late. I wouldn't count on them as being genuine options come the end of the season tbh. Maybe Yaya if any if City regain their offensive form, but Oscar is just massively inconsistent, hard to predict returns from him IMO

          Since returning from ACON, I would say that yes, Yaya has been a bad player. And, while I'm at it, Oscar hasn't looked good for a while. There have been zero signs from either player recently that they are approaching form.

            He went from a focal point of an attack to a team that was scoring out of midfield, he wasn't the main man at Chelsea he was at LFC, but he never played well for Chelsea, but yaya and oscar have played amazing for their teams before

              But are they showing any sign that they will start scoring? Nope i dont think so..getting them now is like trying your luck base on their past reputation and hope it will turn out well. and in most cases they do not

    Urgh!

    I have this funny feeling that Mane is going to be the man you want this GW ... I'm seriously considering a -4 hit to lose Cazorla > Mane ... will reinvest in Giroud after QPRs DGW.

      You know what, I think that could work out modestly TE. Especially considering Mane's threat of late and his upcoming fixtures, probably sensible to hold off on that, but I wouldn't talk you of it if you get my drift 😀

        If you were a country you'd definitely be Switzerland Zasa 🙂

        It's a tough one, if Cazorla was nailed it wouldn't be a problem but i can see him starting on the bench again and Ramsey, Ozil, Walcott, Sanchez and even Flamini or Chambers playing CDM.

        Newcastle are pants ATM which is disappointing, they could cough up a penalty.

        1. Zasa

          🙂 I think I'd take the hit tbh if you're confident on him scoring, many are considering giving him the armband even 😯 . Burnley at home is ripe and he'd definitely be in my dream team for both Gw32 and Gw33 th.

          That said, you raise a good point regarding Cazorla's possible benching. I'm not too sure on the probability of that happening, but I concur with the possibility of Newcastle conceding a penalty considering their horrendous and OoP defense they'll roll with this GW. So it's always risky taking Cazorla out this GW for that reason more so than others.

          Also, if Cazorla does blank, he faces (LIV) after the IB, and I would by no means want Cazorla on my team any further than Gw30. He's just playing too deep and is hanging out pulling the strings, he's not going further up the pitch and (will check this again) getting shots off or touches in the box. In contrast to Mane who's just having a tango in the box of late and is certainly the best bet for a goal in that Saints team.

          I'd calculate this move wisely, if it pays off you're very well set-up further down the line and have a key attacking outlet and one of the most offensive minded mids in the game.

              Good luck on whatever you're set on by the end of the week mate and yes for at least the matches I checked (last four GW's), he's been the furthest back as expected of the milfs, only Coq has played further behind. Even Bellerin has averaged a higher position than him some games.

              Not a good sign in any case, he's a rich mans Mile Jedinak right now.

    @Billy,

    That was sick. And I can also say pathetic. Really not fair like the best/worst team point you mentioned. I really think it should've made based on something seasonal, not jsut any given Match up. Another thing is we don't face all teams equally in the 20 match ups, that's pretty annoying too.

    The game is generally great, but need to clarify some big issues imo.

      Exactly. I find it baffling that it's in the hands of something so completely luck-based. I don't understand how there haven't been more people in my situation that have complained to them so they'd change the daft rules.

      I mean I was sure it would be H2H based so thought I'd be fine, then when I saw I was 7th I had to google to find out what the actual tiebreaker was.

    The Foster injury is adding to my defensive woes.
    I think i'm now going to need to do this move. (currently have 2FT's and 0.8)

    Foster -> Ospina
    Bellerin -> Alderweireld (have to get rid of an ARS player to get Ospina in)

    Other Defenders are:
    Hamer
    PvA / Jones / Bertrand / Baird

    Doubling up on SOT defenders worries me, as does whether Alderweireld is nailed on.

    Thoughts?

      Toby should be nailed so I don't think there's any worries there. Double Soton defence has a decent chance of working out Imo. Still seems a shame to lose Bellerin - he'll be good value for a few weeks yet until Debuchy is back.

      Could you do Foster to Fabianski and bring in Naughton for PVA or Baird instead and then so.ve two problems rather than one?

          I have him, but haven't warmed up to the captaincy idea yet for me. If you think he'll be your highest scoring player, why not? This is a decent GW to punt on captaincy as it'll probably be a 50/50 between Aguero and Kane, with Arsenal and Chelsea attack also thrown in the mix

          Aye, differential for differential, Tekkers has (mun, QPR), while Studge has (ars).
          Will decide during the IB though, hopefully Tekkers keep this form up. Either way, Tekkers will become Costa or Lukaku for Gw32 and Gw33 before I WC.

          It's tough though you're right, for you non WCers, it's certainly a tough decision as it'll burden you with an extra transfer needed on that spot if you have a plethora of blank GWers.

    Chaps, play Fellaini or Nasri this week for my draft league side?

      Fellaini ... has the form and seems to be working well more forward with Rooney to aim at.

      Nasri is down on confidence in a team that is down on confidence and will be recovering from a mid-week CL game.

    No to Tekkers Giroud Sturridge etc. Don't buy blanking players as your problems increase for GW33.

    Keep Kane, Kun Austin etc.

    Only solid attacking prospect "must have" is Costa. Extra game in hand, no blank 33, AND DGW 34, good captaincy option.

    Kan Kun Costa allows 3-4-3 for GW33.

      Giroud, out for 4-6 weeks with a suspected broken foot

      Ozil hamstring, 2-3 weeks to be assessed

      Koscielny - head knock, out this week but back next

      Test Eagles - massive liar!

      Why rooney?

      Courtois
      Aguero
      Silva
      Hazard
      Matic

        matic over yaya? 😀 and i'm not sure courtois is even the best GK in the league?

        rooney's consistency over the years, versatility, goal scoring record.. feel like he has to be there or thereabouts

    Actually all these best players comparsion regardless of positions is pretty pointless and just for fun. How are we supposed to compare courtois with hazard?

      Ok, so lets pick a player from each position?
      GK: Cech/DDG
      CB: Fonte
      FB: Ivan
      DM: Matic
      MID: Hazard/Silva
      FWD: Kun
