After taking time out to assess Tim Sherwood’s impact at Villa Park, we analyse the performances of QPR under Chris Ramsey as both clubs prepare for a double Gameweek 31. In terms of results, the new man in charge has been unable to arrest his side’s decline – aside from a win at fellow strugglers Sunderland, the R’s have lost six of seven fixtures since the departure of Harry Redknapp.

Although they’ve failed to score in just one of those encounters, the Loftus Road outfit have notched more than a single goal in only one match since Ramsey was installed – that victory over the Black Cats. In terms of defensive prospects, QPR have one clean sheet (yet again courtesy of the Sunderland match) and have conceded at least twice in each of the last five matches of Ramsey’s tenure.

With trips to West Brom and Villa on the horizon, then, we delve into the data to see whether the underlying numbers can afford a little more optimism.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Which needs to be done first?

    A) Sanchez > Siggy/Mane
    B) Koscielny > Alderweireld

Whichever isn't done this week will be done next week with Austin > Costa.

Well CLyne is probably a better option than Toby so making B a nothing transfer really. So question becomes would you rather have Mane?Siggy or Sanchez this week?

B releases funds, but will be better next week, I think. Think I'll ditch Sanchez, but he's a big differential in my ML. Hard decisions.

Siggy, I think. Not sold on Mane now he's back in midfield.

Nope, if you have Giroud, easily could stash him until after the Burnley match.

    Myhill
    Terry Naughton Berty
    Haz Sanchez Silva Eriksen
    Kane Austin Aguero

    Foster Boyd Bellerin Dawson

    2FT, 1.9ITB

Way to improve? Sanchez out? Otherwise I'll waste and xfer to get Foster out.

Foster out for Davis and you're done this GW.

Both Wbrom and Saints will play Lei and QPR so thats like 4 CS's potentially.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

    Questions for the Scoutcast team

We have our regular Live Scoutcast taking place tonight, with a special guest lined up to join us.

Feel free to leave your questions here.

In particular if any Sky players have specific questions about that game leave them here.

Be great to get some questions about the impending double Gameweek as well.

So D1sable is the special guest? 😉

Regardless of whether you own them or not, who do you think is the best captaincy option this week? A DGW striker like Austin or Benteke, or is Kane's form too hard to ignore?

Great question - probably the key one ahead of an on paper fairly dire DGWK.

      Shift Sanchez or hold?
Was all set on shifting but uninspired by the other options ( guess alot like me have Silva, Haz, Erik already).
Planned to move him to Siggy to fund Costa later but recon he might end up staying

DGW - if you own Austin should he be an automatic choice for the armband? or are owners being blinded by the DGW?

QPR not great away, west brom are solid at home and villa looking a lot better under sherwood. In my personal case, both ML rivals have giroud aguero kane and can't see them bringing Austin in so could be great differential if he scores well having put faith in him with the armband.

I think a lot of people are being blinded by the DGW. Austin seems the most popular choice on here, but ever since the start of the week I've had the armband on Kane.

        Could go either way though

Hazard's home form has been pretty average, unlike earlier in the season. As weird as it sounds I'm more confident captaining him away rather than at home

im doing austin over kane, need to take chance now an then !if kane blanks then everyone will be wishing they done austin,as even if he blanks in both games will still get double the points, plus kane has just played for england, yes tot have burnley away, but they beat city at home last game,,missed out on kanes hatrick last game, sods law if i cap him,he,ll blank !

Along the same lines as what's been asked already, but Jonty alluded to it specifically in a previous Hot Topic (I think), saying that he'd always captain a DGW player.

Is that still the case this week?

How do you rate the sky game V Fpl game?
I defiantly prefer the Fpl game but I also like the sky rules with as many players from any team, the 40 transfers V 2 Wc/1ft a week(68ft?) . Plus I like the fact that prices remain locked in tho I must admit I find the sky game requires more 'maintenance' for example I think the (c) changes can be tricky to navigate and needs reviewing and the gw aren't as well laid out as Fpl.
Tho the prize money is excellent, Fpl could take a leaf out Sky's book on this!
      Any other opinions?

Not in the slightest. Liverpool, Burnley, Blank, Chelsea.

I am confident that each one of my 3 strikers will outscore Giroud over the next 4 GWs. After that I will wildcard and he'll possibly come in then.

Is it really worth using transfers for DGW31 players, or should they be saved to prepare for the real DGW, DGW34?

Is Mata a genuine option again?

He looks like he may have nailed down a place in a position that suits him (in the short term at least) and his form is good. His goal conversion rate looks unsustainable but maybe he's 'doing a Yaya'.

      Sanchez -> Mata is tempting...

Have the early Wildcarders won? What options are there for people looking to capitalise on them

      1. Ruth_NZ
        • 11 Years
        10 years, 11 months ago

I think the early wildcarders have won on balance, even more so if Blackburn knock Liverpool out of the FA Cup next week.. However there is still benefit in having a wildcard.

        A) You can prepare your team well for GW33 without worrying about Arsenal and Liverpool players. At the moment I have zero Arsenal and zero Liverpool which I'm very happy about. As a result I'll have a very strong GW33 team with no expensive players on the bench.

        B) Related to this you can concentrate in GW 31, 32 and 33 on maximising points rather than on DGW preparation.

        C) If you wildcard in GW34 (my plan) you can set up well for the rest of the season and to maximise DGW benefits in GW34 and GW37. The likely Liverpool-Hull DGW will be scheduled by then. You can also have the flexibility of selecting exactly the players you want at that time (allowing for injuries, form and so on). I expect to replace 9 players in my squad when I wildcard.

I think it is still possible to get a good jump from a wildcard but perhaps not as good a one as I had hoped. The DGWs have been kind to players without wildcards, especially if Liverpool-Hull is rescheduled in GW37 as I expect.

      1. La Roja
        • 13 Years

        Reasons:

        a) Not convinced with 38 years old keeper, couple of errors in a game, Saints loses and I can see Gazzaniga lurking straight away.

        b) Myhil'sl next 3-4 fixtures are really tasty. Plus, he has looked awesome vs City, expecting plenty of save points even if he concedes goals.

        c) Pulis will just shut the shop as from now on, particularly when playing top 4-6 teams towards the end of the season. I can see CS's there.

        d) Saints got nothing to lose as from now on and will have to win all remaining games, hence they will have to play attacking football which naturally creates more possibilities to concede goal(s).

        e) Have Clyne

          A is a fair point.

B not sure about, seemed more like a freak performance tbh.

C probably true but even if u went Myhill I'd be playing Krul in those games. Not sure if I feel comfortable with playing Krul for another 4 games this season (only 2 if I go Davis).

D I have Dawson and Fonte so makes no difference.

Myhill just seems better short term and that's the appeal for me but if I look long term where Krul has to get involved then I sway towards Davis. Probably only a few points in it til the end of the season but it's bugging me!

Pulis' Crystal Palace, last 8 games 2013-14. They were in a similar position to where WBA are now.

          Crystal Palace 1 – 0 Chelsea
          Cardiff City 0 – 3 Crystal Palace
          Crystal Palace 1 – 0 Aston Villa
          Everton 2 – 3 Crystal Palace
          West Ham 0 – 1 Crystal Palace
          Crystal Palace 0 – 2 Manchester City
          Crystal Palace 3 – 3 Liverpool
          Fulham 2 – 2 Crystal Palace

4 clean sheets from 8 games. But they did concede a few to City and Liverpool.

On Point (D), i totally agree

Last game Wanyama was benched, they are going all out to get goals but will definitely closed shop after leading 1, which explains Wanyama was brought on later to keep it tight

It was a home game against Burnley though.

they were so lucky not to concede vs Palace and Burnley. I watched both games.

agree, the return of Nolan spoilts Downing's appeal
