Mondogoal – Donate For Doosra Contest

As we announced in last night’s ScoutCast, our partners Mondogoal have very kindly launched a contest for this weekend in honour of Doosra’s ongoing recovery from illness.

For those who don’t know, Doosra has been a long standing and active member of the Fantasy Football Scout community for many years. He was recently taken ill and has been hospitilised for several weeks.

We’re delighted to hear recently that he is slowly edging his way back to recovery and we’re all optimistic of seeing his presence back on these pages in the coming months.

A few weeks back, Fantasy Football Scout successfully won Doosra a West Ham signed matchball in a Mondogoal contest. That aroused their interest and, on hearing on Doosra’s story, they very kindly put forward the concept of a special dedicated contest.

The contest takes place over this coming Gameweek. It’s £5 to enter, you can enter more than one team.

All proceeds from this contest will be distributed to Doosra’s family and/or charity of their choosing.

The winner of this contest will receive a special West Ham United Prize Pack that includes:

  • A West Ham United Team-Signed Jersey
  • A West Ham United Team-Signed Football
  • Match Tickets to see West Ham United v. Everton on the final home fixture of the season at Boleyn Ground on the 16th of May.

All fixtures from this matchweek are included, lineups lock at the start of the first match between Arsenal and Liverpool.

We’d love to see you involved and tussle for the right to win the West Ham goodies and perhaps also seek to donate these to Doosra and his family.

      Now, this is interesting.

      My post was purely factual and informative. I attached no comment whatsoever.

      As it happens I went down to 12th because that's where Giroud is. The Opta/CIES rating of Costa, Kane and Giroud as the most in-form PL strikers might be of interest, I thought. And since the CL quarters happen soon I thought the relative placements of Messi, Robben, Suarez, Griezmann and Neymar might interest some as well - I find these kinds of assessment useful for FCL sometimes.

      Nothing so controversial there as far as I can see.

      Yet the only upvotes are for a snide comment from Ginkapo and another from Gnu (a particularly peculiar comment, seeing that there's no reason I would have asked if I had already known). I wonder who the upvotes were from. And I wonder why they were made.

      If someone wants to send me a message, don't be shy, and don't use code. Otherwise I might think that some cowards are involved.

        Full disclosure upvoted Adam Western because it was funny.

        And please they are Genuinely CIES ratings exclusively not OPTA/CIES. They may use Opta collected data, but Opta have no say in how CIES process them. FWIW a lot of people think CIES ratings are a lot of crap because they overvalue pitch time(see why English players are so high due to no international break) and hot performances on weak runs of fixtures. They don't scale things for schedule difficulty.

        So CIES ratings not Opta ratings. Opta actually do very little analytics of their own.

          It's a decent plan then and it could pay off for you. you might find it hard to ditch strikers each week if they are scoring though

    Anyone have a problem signing up to Mondogoal and entering a team?

    I'm new to Mondogoal but thought it a great idea to donate to the Doosra/charity fund, so clicked on the link. I've created an account and deposited £5, but the site simply will not let me submit my team. On clicking "Enter Contest", I just receive the error:

    "Sorry, there was an error saving your entry. Our support team has been notified."

    I really think City have a major problem heading their way with Zaha, Bolasie, Puncheon and Murray in such good form (especially if the City full backs go walkabouts as usual) but at the other end of the pitch it could get very ugly as well...
