Myself, Granville and Jonty welcomed Fantasy Premier League royalty for this week’s episode, as reigning champion, Tom Fenley, made his belated ScoutCast debut.

Tom joined us to talk us through his difficult post-championship season, whilst lending his informed view the situation facing the current Fantasy Football Scout league leader, and FPL number one, Simon March, aka “Dufflinks”.

Of course, we were also glad to have Tom’s expertise on board to help us grapple with the latest round of topics fed to us by the community. Amongst the many issues tackled, we attempt to explain the withering form of Sergio Aguero, discussing the merits or otherwise of an Argentine exit strategy.

This episode was recorded on Tuesday evening with a live Hangout broadcast. If you missed that and you really want to catch up on the latest beard developments (Tom abstains from this), you can view the Hangout in full via the movie below.

If you prefer to have your ScoutCast slip down that little bit easier, you’ll be wanting the rather more slick and refined audio version via this link or the first player below.

Be sure to subscribe to our Youtube channel if you want to be kept informed of future live ScoutCasts.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Morning guys. What do people make of Sterling now? Was he still defensive against Blackburn midweek. I see JOhnson and Moreno lined up so Im guessing he was more attacking but do we reckon it'll revert back at the weekend and for future games?

Was pretty much horses for courses v Blackburn, they knew they'd sit against the and try counter. Mearly worked too.

A lot wondering if Sterling will play up front but forget that he's not a striker just yet. Takes a lot of getting used to and killer instinct in front of goal. Debateable if he'd ever be a striker. Contrast his silky skills and movement to a, sometimes, akward looking Kane. But Kane has the killer instinct, times his run, gets on the end of crosses and backs himself to find the net.

Sterling wastes some amount of chances. If he had that killer instinct he'd be incredible. Still only 20 to. A lot forget that. Cheers for the solid reply mate. exactly what I needed to know

Deployed on the wing Badgeman (433), can't see it being the formation from here on when the core is back fit though. Likely back to 3421 when Skretel & Sakho are in the team, Sterling & Cout behind Studge.

      1. BeachBadger

Sterling behind studge could be worth it alright but not in his current role

        1. Zasa

          It's really this

          (433) Sterling - Studge -Cout

          or this

          (3421) ------Studge-----
          ---------Sterling-------------Cout---------

Aye, with IBe out there's is the risk that BR switches Sterling's role with Markoic's. (RWB ). Cout is your ma IMO, you kow what you're getting each GW, guaranteed play time. Unlikely to be subbed off. as well

            And when Lallana is fit?

            1. Zasa
              • 11 Years
              10 years, 11 months ago

Yup, also to take it account, Lallana also plays/competes for those two spots with Sterling/Mark. no telling with BR though, changes roles mid game according to opposition and what he's emphasizing more at the time. (.i.e, pace to track back and defend at the RWB spot, etc)

Hendo and Cout are more predictable options IMO for now and with current team fitness. You could get OoP Sterling at ST with Studge out, or RCAM/RWB, Sterling's too versatile (if you may)

No. But it would be a fresh start with a full preseason under his belt, new signings, new systems etc. Foreign players often struggle in their first year of the PL.

I thought new signings (6 of them) and new systems have already kicked in this season. But I kinda agree with the last assessment, Pires was pretty hapless in his first season before he went on to become a legend.

            1. Kurtinho
              • 11 Years
              10 years, 11 months ago

Exactly. It's too soon to write off a player. I'm a big believer in allowing 2 to 3 seasons to assess how successful a signing has been.

2 is considerable, 3 is too long. Falcao would rot on the bench in that case.

Austin out for me, yep.. gomis is ok but with DGWs u probably won't want him, especially given they will have nothing to play for. Murray is a possibility but slim pickings elsewhere.. other suggestion is mane out for hendo/cout/sterling and at least you'll have whichever of those ready for DGW.. all about shaping up for wk34

Remy first of all isn't as nailed as people think. Secondly benteke is red hot at d moment against a leaky spurs defence. Thirdly you'll probably have to use another transfer to get him my out if and when Costa comes back for gw34. It's boring but sometimes that's the sensible thing to do. I'm holding benteke anyways til nxt wk and will likely either get murray/nugent/vardy for him

not sure, there has been speculation on fan forums that he's not worth risking for the burnley match. I'd go off the teams news here IMO, Kosc is penned to start, Demi and Mark are usually on the ball with Arsenal line-ups.

Henderson is a bit deceiving because he didn't do much in the first part of the season but in the second half he's been very good while Coutinho seems a better real player than a fantasy one.

    Myhill
    Clyne Dawson PVA
    Hazard Silva Sanchez Eriksen
    Kane (C) Aguero Austin

    Krul Bellerin Cork Zouma

2 FT and 2.4 ITB with WC to play in GW34

Should I just trade out Zouma this week to Berty/Aldy and play them instead of PVA or is there any other moves you can see worth doing?

Will leave me with 2FT next week to sort what I have to for the blanks

    Thoughts are very much appreciated

Yep, I'd do that. PVA is a good call nowadays but then CRY are a very attacking side recently. Have 2 FTs in GW33.

I dont think theres much advantage to having southampton defender over PVA this week- they could remain tight at back with advocat and PVA offers returns going forward when he starts. Could just leave it and have the teo free next week.
See my team below- any thoughts? Have the wild card too- is GW 34 an absoluteno brainer for it? Theres an advantage to waiting an pulling the trigger for last 2/3 games - could be a big differential at that stage

I think Chelsea will shut QPR out at the weekend... no method to my madness just a calculated thought/punt.

I see where you're coming from. Berty or Clyne if you are intent on a Saints DEF

    Ivanovic/ Wollscheid/ van Aanholt
    Mata/ Sánchez/ Eriksen/ Hazard
    Kane/ Giroud/ Benteke

    Clichy, Cork, Baird

Thanks lads- 1 free transfer- wouldnt mind getting puncheon in for mata in GW33 and then
Wolly will stat wont he? they are the home team v saints in GW 33 so no reason to think they cant shut saints out at home

What about clichy to baines? keep baines for GW 33 then wildcard

How about Wollscheid or Clichy > Terry? Build towards that DGW...

Baines away to Swansea & home to Burnley - think I'd prefer Terry with QPR away & Man U home.

id love to have baines at home to burnley as differntiator though- especially as I have ivanovic already. But that terry swap is on ei was thinking of just now alright.

Whats the general consenus for sanchez? should i be wildcarding him out in GW34 ( will lose .5 million iif want hum back? If i get rid I could swap in yaya for gw 33 and have a strong 5 midfielders
            playing

With WC intact - you could go the Sanchez out route. Many will be keeping. Y.Toure/Silva could be solid additions for 33.

It may mean you will need to look at other Arsenal MID coverage, other than Sanchez primarily due to price and ensuring solid coverage across the board for the DGW. But plenty of cheap(er) Arsenal MID options to consider...

Cheers for that, yeah I'm thinking of keeping Sanchez will finish strong this season I think- captaining away to burnley
Yaya would be nice differential for 33 though!

Best laid plans have been ruined somewhat, with the season-ending injury to Naughton which will need to sorted out prior to the blank fixtures in GW33.

    Current side:
    Panti (Krul)
    Terry Clyne Rose (PvA Naughton!)
    Hazard(vc) Mata Mane Sanchez (Boyd)
    Aguero Kane(c) Austin
    2.2m cash | 2 FTs

    1. Keep Austin (and possibly bench him - playing PvA instead)
2 Transfer Austin (won't be Remy) - Berahino, Murray, Gomis
    3. Use 2 FTs for Austin & Naughton transfers this GW

    Thoughts appreciated

    Myhill
    Ivan Terry Fonte (haidara Naughton)
    Haz Sanchez Mane Silva (boyd)
    Kun Kane Austin

What should I do with this? 0ITB, 2FT

    A) Austin > Murray, save
    B) Terry>Toby, Austin>Remy
    C) Something else

I have a WC for 34 so not worried about Naughton/Haidara

    Guzan | Krul

Haha I'm in the same position as you, literally have the same back 5, 4 of your midfield and same 3 strikers. And yes, I'm WC'ing in GW34 and have 2FT this week 😀

I've asked in here about this as well, personally at the moment I'm looking at Austin>Remy this week and Cazorla/Naughton out next week for one week punts. The likes of Everton defender vs Burnley, City mid vs West Ham, don't have much inspiration apart from that though!

Can't find a Naughton replacement this week that#'s gunna be better than Bellerin, and similar with Caz.

Your keepers are pretty gash over the 2 weeks and almost guaranteed no cleanies, considered getting someone like Davis?

Austin has to go this week though, I'm going Remy but Gomis not a bad gamble either.

      1. King Kohli
        • 13 Years
        10 years, 11 months ago

Davis is a good shout, will ponder over it.

I was thinking of keeping Austin as he's been in good form recently and has a decent chance of getting a goal vs Chelsea, who have not been at their best lately.

        1. FionnMac
          • 15 Years

But Austin misses the game after, so you'll want rid for that game anyway. So might as well get someone like Remy or Gomis for the 2 games
