Our pre-Gameweek members article, which focuses on the main captaincy contenders, arrives a little later than usual this Friday afternoon. As always, we take a three-part approach which includes the weekly poll standings, the Opta statistics and our Rate My Team projections to help steer your thoughts on the armband conundrum.

The Captain Poll

With 44% of the votes cast, Harry Kane is the runaway leader this week as Spurs prepare to entertain Villa at the Lane. The youngster has produced eight goals and two assists in his six home appearances in 2015, with three sets of double-figures (18, 12, 17) included over that run. Bearing in mind that Villa have a single clean sheet in 12 league outings, Kane owners will be expecting a return to form after he blanked in two of the last three Gameweeks.

Eden Hazard is next in line as Chelsea make their way to London neighbours QPR. The Belgian has scored in five of his last six away appearances and squares up to a defence that’s conceded at least twice in all but one of the last seven matches. With that in mind, it’s perhaps surprising that Hazard is currently backed by just 17% of the voters.

Arsenal pair Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez have been selected by 8% and 5% respectively for the trip to Burnley. The Clarets defence have kept out City and Spurs in their last two home matches and have certainly tightened up, though face a tough task to keep Giroud at bay – the Frenchman has scored in eight of his last nine league starts. Sanchez, meanwhile, has already served up a 16-point haul against the Clarets this season and rolls up to Turf Moor on the back of a 13-point return against Liverpool last weekend as the Gunners strengthen their claim for a top two finish.

Four goals in his last six outings earns Bafetimbi Gomis 4% backing in this week’s Poll. The Swansea forward has belatedly found his form but faces a resurgent Everton side at the Liberty, with the Toffees conceding just once in their previous three fixtures.

Sergio Aguero and Loic Remy have been selected by just 3% ahead of trips to United and QPR respectively. Given that United have only conceded more than one goal on just two occasions from Gameweek 6 onwards, Aguero faces a tough task to arrest a run of form which has seen him return a single assist in the last five Gameweeks. Remy’s back-to-back winners for Chelsea should earn him a start in Diego Costa’s absence as the league leaders travel to a QPR side that has lost each of their last five at Loftus Road and boasts the worst defensive record in the top-flight.

Further down, the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Glenn Murray could well emerge as real differentials for those willing to gamble. Sturridge has collected just 2% of votes ahead of Monday’s home encounter with a Newcastle side that has managed two clean sheets in their last 19 league encounters. Murray’s five goals and two assists in the last five suggests he’s one to watch as Palace seek a fifth win in six away to struggling Sunderland.

Got myself in quite the pickle and not sure what to do....(1FT 0ITB)

    PANTI Krul
    Terry Bertrand McAuley KOSC PVA
    Hazard Silva Eriksen SANCHEZ PHILLIPS
    Aguero Kane AUSTIN

Got six not playing next week so I'm thinking no transfers this week leaving me two for next week but who do I get? It has to be Chelsea or Leicester, doesn't it? Can't be Liverpool because I won't be able to field 11 for GW 33?!

    GW 32 hold
GW 33 two of Kosc, Austin, Sanchez to who??

If you remove Sanchez & Austin over this week and the next you should make a XI for GW33. Fabregas & Remy seem popular DGWers that play in the blank, although not sure on Remy myself...

    Hot topic!

There has been some talk on here of potential rule changes for the new season, and I thought it would be good to throw another idea into the mix.

Although a few websites have tried to readjust their algorithms to work out the timing of price rises/falls, this season they have all come up short.

Is it time for FPL to become transparent with regards to price changes?

For the casual, this will make no difference at all. But for the hardcore player, trying to work out whether to hold until after international games or for news from press conferences, it becomes very important. Especially at the business end of the season.

Is this something that you would favour?

I would favour it, but your 2nd last paragraph illustrates exactly why they won't do it.

I'd like it if the sites were 100% accurate again. It's annoying to watch players not rise at 150% and rise at 80%. There needs to be more certainty IMO.

    Coutinho Haz Silva Eriksen
    Kun Kane (C) Giroud

Any moves worth doing? Or should I just use one FT to get rid of Mannone or Naughton?

keep if no wc, sell if you have one IMO

If you've saved the wc specifically for use in a big DGW then there's no point in going in half-arsed

10 DGWs for me with Sanchez as my only non-DGWer in readiness for Arsenal's DGW (with a 2nd Arsenal on then bench)

Sturridge still looked rusty during the week and played 80+ mins, there is a possibility of him either starting and going off early or Sterling being played upfront and Sturridge coming on as a sub.. bit risky to captain but if you chasing in ML then go for it, otherwise might be safe to captain Kane or Haz instead imo

            Hull @ home..
            So what ?

They have been struggling everywhere, exception was the Chelsea game, but even there one of the goal was basically from a Courtois' mistake.

    Not enough Manchester derby hype.

    What are your score predictions?

    I'll go 3-2 (Rooney, Fellaini x2, Aguero!, Yaya) 🙂

Fellaini x2 I could get behind! I think 2-1 United (Rooney, Aguero, Young....)

I sold Austin for Remy.. now I feel bad. I miss the little fella, he's been outstanding for me this season.

Likewise - just been overtaken in my ML and if it wasn't for Charlie's points i'd be significantly further behind

I was trying to reward form over fixtures but with so many banking on Remy I am afraid to lose out!

Tempting.. I was hoping Blind might deliver something in the derby but hard to discount Boyd at home. I will be getting rid of Blind soon. He is just in the wrong position. I'd rather him as attacking defender.

How do we feel about Sturridge?

As a Newcastle fan, I know we're in for a hiding. We'll get slaughtered! So I know I need some sort of Liverpool attacking coverage.

In which order would you play these 3 next GW?(got double Che and double City):

    JWP (sto)
    Jones (che)
    Reid (city)

    Ugh...
