Once again it’s time for us to cast an eye over the Sky Sports game. As always, we assess the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries, the transfer trends, the watchlist and a look at the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 34 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below are the players that caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last weekend’s fixtures achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional five points).

FixtureMoTM
Arsenal vs LiverpoolMesut Ozil
Everton vs SouthamptonPhil Jagielka
Leicester vs West HamJamie Vardy
Man United vs Aston VillaAnder Herrera
Swansea vs HullGylfi Sigurdsson
West Brom vs QPRBobby Zamora
Chelsea vs StokeEden Hazard
Burnley vs TottenhamMichael Duff
Sunderland vs NewcastleJermain Defoe
Crystal Palace vs Man CityGlenn Murray
Aston Villa vs QPRChristian Benteke

Two defenders, four midfielders and five forwards picked up the awards this week. Only Eden Hazard, with 26.2% ownership. and Gylfi Sigurdsson (16.4%) were popular picks for Sky Fantasy managers. Hazard now has 11 MoTM awards and further cements his position as the top scoring player in the game.

Gameweek 34 Bonus Points

Only four goalkeepers achieved bonus points from collecting five or more saves. Robert Green popped up again with his customary bonus and remains the busiest keeper in the league, having racked up 28 bonus points over the season.

In defence, eight players grabbed bonus, four for tackles and five for passes completed. Daley Blind was the man to earn both to earn an additional four points alongside his assist – Pablo Zabaleta is still leading the way for defenders with 22 bonus points.

In midfield there were 23 beneficiaries in total: 13 for tackling and 11 for passes. Brazilian enforcer Lucas was the man to grab both, completing exactly 60 passes and four tackles. Chelsea duo Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic are the game’s overall highest bonus point earners with 44.

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers
CostaChelsea9.519.9%
ForsterSouthampton4.910.4%
LlorisTottenham5.43.1%
HuttonAston Villa3.82.8%
SturridgeLiverpool9.82.8%

With injury plaguing the top four listed here, only Daniel Sturridge looks likely to feature at the weekend – his mediocre form appears to have made 2.8% of managers look elsewhere.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers
AgueroMan City9.87.9%
GiroudArsenal8.96.2%
KaneTottenham6.75.9%
FabianskiSwansea3.85.3%
RooneyMan United9.44.2%

Diego Costa’s mass exodus means four forwards make it into the top five transferred in. The majority of Fraser Forster and Hugo Lloris owners also seem to have jumped on board the highest owned keeper in the game – Swansea’s Lukasz Fabianski.

The average amount of transfers remaining amongst the top 1,000 currently is 4.358.

Top Five Captains Picked

NameTeamValue% of Managers
CostaChelsea9.514.8%
RooneyMan United9.49.5%
AgueroMan City9.87.2%
KaneTottenham6.76.8%
FabregasChelsea8.66.4%

With only Kane set to feature on Saturday from this quintet, there could be significant movement on that day for the 6.8% heading into that day with the Spurs striker sporting the armband.

Watchlist

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with sub-6% ownership that I think could be good options in the coming weeks to help you climb the rankings. These will be looked at in three specific price brackets to cater for our available budget. These names evolve with fixtures and form and offer Fantasy managers a nudge in hopefully the right direction.

My Team

Hazard Silva Sigurdsson Fabregas Mane
Aguero Kane©

ITB: 1.0m
Transfers remaining: 7/40
Last week’s points: 62
Overall points: 1857
Rank: 155

Notes
I moved up a whole four places overall after earning 62 points last time out. However, I can’t help but think about the missed opportunity of drafting in Christian Benteke as skipper – he would have picked up 58 points over the two matches and, with an ownership of 0.72%, would have all but guaranteed a high ranking finish. Moving forward, I’m looking at addressing my double West Brom defence in the coming weeks – both Kieran Trippier and Aaron Creswell look good options, with strong fixtures and attacking intent. Jordan Henderson is another I’m eyeing up but, with his impending blank Gameweek, I’ll wait on that move for now.

Captain Plan
On Saturday, I’m locked into Harry Kane for his home encounter with Villa. The Spurs forward suffered a rare blank last week but hopefully Villa’s all-out attacking approach will allow Kane to pick holes in their defence.

For Sunday, it’s a familiar choice with Eden Hazard the standout option once again. Those chasing may want to punt at this stage but in all honesty I think there will be better Gameweeks to go down this route- Hazard’s on fire and I can’t see beyond the Belgian.

There is also a Monday night match this week, which presents the option for three captains if you choose to use a transfer. Liverpool at home to Newcastle is very tempting to use one but with the hosts now having a blank next week it’s likely to mean two transfers unless you’re happy to accept going into next Gameweek with no captain setup.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Once again, we’re running our own Fantasy Football Scout League this season and we’re currently topping the Private League rankings. With a £1000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8009000.

The Fantasy Football Club

This Friday The Fantasy Football Club show, where you can catch Fenners and Merse at 18:30 SkySports One HD where they will be discussing the upcoming week’s Fantasy Football, quizzing former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp and asking current Leicester man Nigel Pearson for his #One2Eleven.

        May not start every game
Costa could be back for double
        Murray on fire
Could block a third che dgw player (if Costa returns)

This is what not to like.

Mourinho also said he could play 4 or 5 games so it's a big risk for dgw. He originally said 4 minimum.

It's not what Mourinho says, it's what he wants his competition to hear.

The main thing to take from that is that Mourinho refuses to discount Costa, but it would be foolish to risk him sooner than that Arsenal game, and even then..

Would Mourinho risk him where he is not needed?

With his injury I'm not sure it is an option to campaign for top scorer.. and not the way Kane is going who will get more games and is arguably going to be hungrier?

                  Interesting arguments though!

I think he's back for the final 4 games - if Remy does well I dont think he'll risk Costa earlier.
If Remy doesn't then those who've bought him will be looking for the door anyways.

This kind of illustrates my point - "if he plays four it's normal. If he plays three he's a little bit below what I'm expecting and if he plays five he plays more than I'm expecting. So I'm thinking about four matches."

This, to me, does not say 4 games worst case.

2 FT (already have Hazard & Ivanovic) and about 45 points back of ML leader.

    a) Terry & Austin > Moreno & Remy (would allow me to get in 2 more DGW players for a total of 6 with no hits and field 11 next week if I do Naughton > Morgan/Schlupp)

    b) Terry & Austin > Schlupp & Remy (same as above but would save next week and pick up Skrtel & Hendo/Coutinho the following week)

    c) Terry & Austin > Toby & Remy (would only be able to get 5 DGW players without taking a hit)

    A. Austin -> Gomis, save 2nd FT.

    B. Naughton -> Schlupp (I have Bruce, PVA & Naughton who won't play next week), save 2nd FT.

    C. Austin -> Remy & Naughton -> Duff (funds). No hit.

Not easy to call is it? For me though, the strikers to have this week are Kane, Remy, Sturridge or Murray. But admittedly that's quite short-term thinking, especially in the case of Studge with his impending blank.

Aguero to be a differential and still creating plenty of chances just unlucky as of late with the goal posts and non-penalty calls. He's due. I will be holding for at least a few more weeks.

I'm actually keeping him myself so I hope he picks up soon, and I have to admit you'd expect him to, usually. But four 2pters in a row doesn't inspire much confidence. 🙁

With Moreno you can bring him in this week which is something I am debating. The worry about the minutes doesn't scare me because he will usually be subbed off if they are chasing, If 0-0 he gets the clean sheet after 60 minutes anyways. If they have conceded no clean sheet points for Skrtel anyways.

I'm torn due to Skrtel BPS potential mainly.

    This much I know

    a) Remy was a great pick when at QPR, proper goalscorer
    b) Chelsea are better than QPR
    c) 7.1 for the main striker at Chelsea looks too good to pass up
    d) If Murray scores and I don't have him I'll be worse than Daniel

    This much I don't know
    a) Will Remy get 90 minutes, doesn't seem to very often
    b) How much impact will Drogba have

Nicely summarised and I'd add to the

      "This much I don't know"

      C) will Costa be back for some of the DGW?

Is it really wise to ship out Austin when he's bang in form? Chelsea haven't really kept a CS in a while and well QPR have everything to play for.

I didn't think he was very involved or looked too great against Villa. I watched the game, and while his goal was well taken, I'm not sure there was much else to inspire a ton of confidence. He almost seemed tired, which wouldn't be a surprise. I don't know. I think I'd rather have Remy than him this GW.

As my daughter sarcastically pointed out just now "that'll mess you up when you're looking to log on to your antasy ootball!" Cheeky young madam!
