This evening we roll out the quarter final draw for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XI, as sponsored by Paddy Power, as well as the semi-final draw for the Fantasy Football Members Cup V.

Mark continues to fight another day, after seeing off Eedee in round seven in the FFS Paddy Power Cup XI. He is the highest placed manager in the competition with a Fantasy Premier League rank of 155 and squares up to johni00 in the quarter finals.

Another of the FFScout team has made it through. Our moderator and Scoutcast guest Ryan beat the competition’s previously highest ranked manager, fuml_akimbo, and now faces HammersXI.

In the other quarter final ties, HuttonDressedAsLahm takes on Mowgli and faux_C is matched with Jon Nurse, who has won £25 worth of free bets with Paddy Power after his round seven tally of 68 proved to be round seven’s highest score.

In the Fantasy Football Members Cup V, the first semi-final will see the competition’s highest placed manager Tdubb05, who is ranked 1345th, take on waltzingmatildas. Meanwhile, Alwilb’s semi final opponent is faux_C, the only competitor to be in with a chance of winning both our cups.

The full quarter final draw for the FFS Paddy Power Cup XI can be found here, while the semi-final draw for the Members Scout Cup V can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

If I want to go triple arsenal attack, I need a defender (6 mil or less) to download ivanovic too. Obviously not an arsenal player. Already have PVA and Panti so going sunderland would be a bit insane.

    Suggestions?

    Morning Guys..

Right more help is needed from the lovely ffs community more than ever.

I am currently 2place in my mini league and chasing down a bitter rival. They are 45pts ahead, and is beginning to put the brakes on by transferring the same players as me to prevent any damage. I won the league last year from a similar position so I believe I can still do this. Just need some strong advice on what to do with my team next.

    My team now:

    Pantilimon
    Terry Ivanovic Bellerin
    Hazard Ramsey Silva Fellaini
    Aguero Giroud Vardy

(Heaton, Alderweireld, Cambiasso, PVA) 0.4m itb

Rival's Team: (he just took -8pt hit to get Silva n Rambo to block me)

    Schemichael
    Okore Koscielny Terry
    Sanchez Hazard Silva Ramsey
    Aguero Vardy Ndoye

    (Given, Henderson, Alderweireld, Bruce)

    So...

3 game weeks.. 45pts.. What can I do?

Get in Kane n (c) him? Berahino vs Newcastle? Need some tips to try and close this gap.

Thinking about trying to implement stats more into my thinking next season, I checked out the ratio between goals conceded and shots in box conceded.

In general, they correlate to some extent, but maybe less than I expected.

For example, Chelsea concede from a very low percentage of shots in the box compared to other teams. Any ideas why this may be? I'm thinking, maybe, the likes of terry and Cahill throwing themselves in front of shots for blocks, and also perhaps some good saves from the world class keeper.

Contrastingly, Liverpool aren't conceding many shots at all, but a high percentage are scored. I guess that just shows how rubbish Mignolet and the defence is.

Basically, It would seem that it is pretty difficult to use defensive stats reliably, or does anyone disagree?

I do. Firstly, shots in the box are a great indicator for mids, but for forwards, shots on target are better. Secondly, in defence, I look at big chances conceded as well as shots in box conceded. I order my defensive tables by goal attempts conceded, however. 🙂

Basically I'm thinking of making a season ticker, to pick strikers based on their opposition for the next 6, based on the opposition's defensive stats, with an emphasis on recent trends..

But then, checking the stats, it seems a teams like spurs are absolutely terrible defensively and they are getting lucky in many games. Same with WBA etc.

Great post. I've always liked the idea of a Defenders Ticker, and an Attackers Ticker. Some teams seems to better at one end than the other, which changes how we look at these teams.

              Thanks.

I already do look at opponents based on goals conceded, but thinking stats might be reliable than just goals since there is more data and as such less of a luck factor.

In your position I may consider Cout+Sterling -> Sanchez + a cheaper mid of your choice (-4) Then Ramsey next week.

Otherwise, if Sanchez scores this week it will hurt because his ownership is soaring.

Yeah, I'd rather have Sanchez this week but just not sure if it's worth a 4 pointer, especially when none of the mids 7m or below appeal and Cout has 2 decent fixtures to follow this week.

Ramsey is a Cardiff boy as well so I expect he'll want to play and do well against the Swans.

I'd wait until next week if you can. Personally I'm looking at getting Sanchez this week and giving myself another week on the additional mid.

Like you I want Ramsey but am worried about the knock. Additionally it's probably best to wait until Friday if you can, see if Wenger gives any good indication

It's been seen that week 8 was a pivotal game changing rank and I'd like to argue that week 34 has been very influential too for those with a wildcard to play.

Did anyone find that the January wildcard was also a pivotal point in the game? My rank really dropped when I played it for some reason.

Berty -->> 3.8m (Wasilewski maybe) or Terry --> 4.7m to afford Hendo to Ramsey

Hendo > Larsson/Gomez to free up funds (and an extra DGW mid)

Then take your pick from Coutinho > Ramsey or Bertrand > Koscielny

Feel like I've earned a hit to freshen up my midfield

    Schmeichel
    Terry, Skrtel, McShane
    Hazard, Sanchez, Fabregas, Sterling
    Aguero, Giroud, Ulloa

    Panti, Grealish, Duff, Moreno

nothing in the bank (well 0.1). Feel Sterling/Fab have to go (maybe Moreno as well). Think I'll have to go without Benteke for the rest of the season as well. Any ideas?

Should I take a -4 next week to take an Arsenal player out to bring Sanchez into this team?

    PANTS (Hamer)
    Terry, Skrtel, KOCS (Alder, Dawson)
    RAMSEY, Sterling, Hazard, Henderson (Boyd)
    GIROUD (c), Aguero, Kane

    A) Kocs + Sterling > Wasil + Sanchez
    B) Giroud + Sterling > Wickham + Sanchez
    C) Save and do Dawson to PVA with the FT

    1. SUAREZ_MESSI_COUTINHO
      • 11 Years

      No, if Ramsey is fit

    Myhill (Ospina)
    Terry Ivanovic Alderweireld (Moreno Duff)
    Hazard Sanchez Cambiasso Herrera (Henderson)
    Vardy Giroud Kane

    Have 1FT ITB 7.5

Should I use the FT to get in Benteke or Kun and play till last gw, and if so, who for who? If I take Kun in, I would need a -4 by removing Ivanovic for Schlupp.

    1. Hypnos

Kane > Kun seems a good transfer. Double Chelsea defence won't be as effective now that Terry and Ivanovic have the possibility of being rotated in the remaining fix's so Iva > Schlupp isn't a bad move.

    Morning everyone!
The DGW34 flop has left me with some deadwood.
My plan for this week is Bertrand & Sterling > Dawson & Silva (-4)
    Thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

    Schmeichel
    Ivanovic, Stones, Bertrand
    Henderson, Hazard, Sterling, Fabregas
    Kane, Aguero , Giroud
    (Panti; Cambiasso, Toby, Bruce)

I think West Brom are playing very well at the minute and a clean sheet is almost banked at Newcastle this week. not sure about PvA as I already have Pants and double Sunderland coverage never appealed to me, even if they do have a DGW
