Arsenal’s ten-match unbeaten run comes to an end as they waste chance after chance against Swansea at the Emirates. Fit-again Bafetimbi Gomis emerges from the bench to help sneak an unlikely win for the Welsh side.

Gunners silenced by resilient Swans

Arsenal failed to translate their dominance into tangible returns as they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Swansea City on Monday night. The Gunners spurned a plethora of opportunities to take the lead, ending the encounter with 23 shots to the Swans’ eight after testing Lukasz Fabianski on nine occasions.

Bafetimbi Gomis’ late winner consigned the North London club to their first defeat in 11 matches, having emerged victorious in all but one of their fixtures (a 0-0 draw with Chelsea) since a 2-1 away loss to rivals Tottenham Hotspur back in Gameweek 24. Arsenal picked an inopportune moment to fail to score in successive home ties for the first time since April 2011 – just as they gear up for a double Gameweek 37.

Those that drafted in coverage early were punished by the poverty of attacking returns and the absence of a clean sheet. Olivier Giroud drew a blank for the fourth consecutive match and struggled to impart his presence against Garry Monk’s disciplined outfit. The French marksman mustered just one shot on target across his 68-minute spell – which, incidentally, was his first accurate effort in four outings. Given Giroud’s clear lack of form, the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez will likely feature higher up in many managers’ plans.

Despite Sanchez’s fruitless evening, the 145,000 managers that recruited the Chilean livewire prior to Gameweek 36 were given plentiful encouraging signs. The ex-Barcelona star fashioned four shots on goals and crafted two chances, whilst Ramsey posted similarly impressive numbers, attempting five shots, and creating three chances.

Perhaps more surprisingly, Santi Cazorla posed the biggest attacking threat among the Gunners’ ranks, engineering two more attempts on goal (seven) than any other midfielder this Gameweek. Allied with his free-kick proficiency, Cazorla’s heavy involvement in the final third could attract a new wave of investors.

Arsenal now travel to Old Trafford to face off against Manchester United in the first of their double fixtures, before hosting Sunderland four days later. Arsene Wenger’s troops have won their last five road matches, so the Red Devils clash promises to be a well-contested affair. A Black Cats side fighting for survival will likely prove stern competition, though depending on results elsewhere this weekend, Dick Advocaat’s side could already be safe by the time they roll up to the Emirates in midweek – a scenario that could prove advantageous to the Gunners’ main men as they attempt to clinch second spot behind Chelsea.

Gomis late show puts Swans on verge of Europa

Swansea are closing in on a Europa League berth after Bafetimbi Gomis’ header in the 86th minute afforded the visitors’ a dramatic victory over Arsenal. The former Lyon frontman was handed 17 minutes at the end of the encounter as he made his first appearance since succumbing to a hamstring injury in Gameweek 32. Now primed to start next week and boasting four goals in as many outings, Gomis (6.5) could be deemed a viable last-gasp differential as Swansea prepare to host Manchester City and visit Crystal Palace in their final two.

Swansea complemented their third win on the trot with back-to-back clean sheets. In light Sergio Aguero’s red-hot form, a shut-out next week against the Sky Blues looks a little far-fetched, yet Crystal Palace’s recent paucity of goals (one in four fixtures) works in the favour of Swansea’s rearguard for that tie.

79 points above ML rival so decided to have a bit of fun this week, took a hit to get the below.

    Ospina
    Terry - Skrtel - Vlaar
    Gomez - Sanchez - Ramsey - Silva - Coutinho
    Aguero - Graham

    Bench - Krul - Kane - Schlupp - Fonte

    Good to go?

It's not a simple yes or no, there are other factors to consider. Who are the midfielders you're replacing? Which defenders/strikers would you replace? I'm personally not as I want to keep Hazard and Silva.

You've got to ditch Davis, I'd do him to Panti and then maybe Bertrand to Koscielny, or as you say Coutinho to Cazorla.

    Bottomed last page

Need help on which Arsenal players to get in and how to get them in:

    Pants
    Moreno | Vlaar | Clyne
    Silva | Fabregas | Hazard | Ozil
    Benteke | Aguero | Kane
    (Mignolet, Cambiaso, Toby, Baird)

    £1.4m

Obviously i need Sanchez, so Hazard > Sanchez is a given?

I may have messed up getting Ozil instead of Ramsey as he looked prime to score all last night.

    What would you do?

I'm in a couple of cash leagues and basically at the moment I'm set to come away with around £300.
I can take a couple of hits and consolidate my positions and pretty much guarantee that figure, or I could go for broke and potentially win around £600, but there's a chance I'll end up with only £50.

I know what I'm doing, I'm going for it because that's how I roll, but what would you do?

      1)
Swansea are no pushovers (see last night for example), so not the best week to choose Aguero.

Was kinda set on selling Silva for Sanchez this week with a -4 to allow this to happen somewhere but after Silva's perfromance this week and Arsenal losing, City will surely be pulling out all the stops to finish the season on a high and two impressive wins should follow..

    Pants
    Bellerin // Ivanovic // Toby
    Hazard // Sterling // Silva // Albrighton
    Kane // Aguero // Giroud

Kasper // Puncheon // Dawson // Wolls and 0.8 in the bank..

      Im looking at doing:
      - Hazard & Dawson ----> Sanchez & PVA (-4)

      Does anything else look better?
Ill probably bring Hazard back in for the final gameweek

other option is Sterling & Ivanovic ----> Sanchez & PVA so I dont need to bring Hazard back in next week!

A lot of people seem to be using Hazard as the makeweight, due to question marks over him starting this week. I wouldn't do that personally though.

Nathan is signing for Chelsea, according to his own Instagram account. Can't see him playing much at the moment, unless they plan on ditching Oscar.

In a league where you can have as many players from a team as you want

    So how's this

    Ospina
    Kos. Mertesacker. Coates
    Ramsey. Ozil. Sanchez. Cazorla. Carermole
    Giroud. Graham

    A) Davis + Cout > Panti + Cazorla (-4)
    B) Davis + Skrtel > Panti + Kosc (-4)

    K.Davis - Hamer
    Terry - Skrtel - PVA - Berty - Wasi
    Alexis - Rambo - Silva - Coutinho - Boyd
    Aguero - Kane - Tekkers

Sunderland have 3 attakers Wickham , Defoe and Graham and they all score

Really unsure of what to do this week, advice would be great. Currently 28pt ahead of in my ML.

    Schmeichel
    Ivan PVA Bertie
    Haz Silva Ramsey Grealish
    Kane Kun Giroud

    Myhill Sterling Skrtel Trippier

    A) Haz + Sterling > Sanchez + Larsson/Gomez (-4)
    B) Silva + Sterling > Sanchez + Larsson/Gomez (-4)
    C) Sterling > Carzorla or Wally
    D) Ivan + Sterling > Sanchez + Coates (-4) (Two Sunderland defenders probably isn't a good idea)
    E) Ivan + Sterling > Sanchez + Kolarov
    F) Ivan + Sterling > Bellerin/Kosc + Larsson/Gomez (-4)

    Panti

    Sanchez (C) - Hazard - Silva - Ramsey - Henderson
    Aguero - Kane

    Krul, Vardy, Vlaar, Dawson
    1FT // 2.0 ITB

Looks a solid move if you're happy with the three mids. Nice team.

Can't see any better moves, if I'm honest - they all require hits.

Good move. You could also get Kosc in as well if you want to play Henderson/Vardy.

        Not really keen on it.

3 mids is attacking but also allows some insurance if Arsenal keep a cleanie.

Would you play Murray - Liverpool (A) or Bertrand - Villa (H)
Southampton have been shocking at the back lately.
No Schneiderlin or Forster, no party?

Which Burnley/QPR players do you reckon are going to be in the PL next year?

Austin looks a given, Ings as well.

Not sure if QPR's other players count as "proven premier league players" and Burnley have been a good team, but not quite the calibre of the PL.

I reckon Trippier, Onuoha maybe Sandro.
