I have a theory he won't be as he's a form/confidence player who needs to be playing.

          6 days*

Villa have nothing to play for and other strikers to give a chance. I'm sure Tekkers will play a part to keep him ticking though.

Well that's Sterling off to City.

Sterling needs a new agent, the situation has been dealt with terribly.

    1. Licky
      • 13 Years
      10 years, 11 months ago

Its been dealt with terribly by everyone, the club an particularly Rodgers made it public knowledge and demonized the lad, he responded though through the media and in a sure fire way to piss off Liverpool fans, so there's a lot of fault the lay around, I think he would have been off at some point though, players look for the best deals and easy success nowadays.

7 goals 10 assists rubbish for a 20 year old who is poor at finishing playing for a not so great team and has clearly been disinterested for half the season.

I disagree. I think he will walk into City's first team. Jesus Navas isn't going to keep him on the bench. Him, Silva and Aguero will be deadly.

A lot of that has to be down to Rodgers though, the tactics and the play this year have been awful, being young means inconsistency too.

        1. Licky
          • 13 Years
          10 years, 11 months ago

Mind, it's absolutely my opinion that there'll be much of the same next season if Rodgers is still in charge, woeful mismanagement from him all year with a squad that should have walked top four, we see now that he's losing the dressing room, I actually feel sorry for a lot of the players and Raheem because they've been let down badly by Rodgers and have had to shoulder the blame unlike that gob in charge who just blames anything and everything but him.

          That's your biggest weakness then.

Id be honest and say that rather that use any of these interview cliches about saying how fantasicly meticulous you are.

Who is the interview with exactly? I'd do some serious research and know who they are what they do and what they value.

Interviewers want potential employees whose values match the organisation. Match yourself to them.

One along the lines of "I can sometimes focus too hard on a problem". The key to that question is to end your answer with an explanation of how you've come to realise what the solution to your weakness is.

      It's a crap question.

You either get a lie, or someone just tells you a weakness and you then reject then for it.

Anyway, two approaches. Tell the truth and let them know what your biggest weakness is (unless it'll cause them to reject you). Or just lie and use one of the double edged swords 'I'm a perfectionist' or some bull.

Because everyone has an answer ready.

          A test of initiative:
Tell me 10 uses for a kettle other than boiling water.. Or something else obscure!

Given where you're applying, you could go for 'I'm a bad driver'. Banter points.

But no, saying you're a bad driver at a road authority, especially somewhere like Norway, will go down terribly. Safety is too important at these places for good reasons.

Dont A0 say you dont have any weaknesses or B) use that out cliche 'I work too hard' or some other bull.

Pick a genuine weakness, but not one that will hinder your job in reality. Emotional ones that are genuinely good characteristics of a person in real life, but not so much in the workplace are good - like being a people pleaser.

Finally, show how you are dealing with that weakness and looking to improve. Eg. if you have bad tech skills (tech not being massively important for your job though 😉 ) but are taking a course on IT or something

Just that the interview questions generally fit around the job description and performance criteria:

Can you give an example of a time you have used your communication skills effectively in a work setting?

Are you aware of any major changes in legislation relevant to the Norwegian Roads Authority in the last year?

Be prepared. I'd want to interview someone who took the time to find out what we are about.

Whatever you do don't pick a positive "weakness" like perfectionist. It stinks of bs and is a rookie mistake to make in an interview.

Give a genuine weakness but also give examples of things you've done to improve in that area. It's more impressive than a lazy cop out answer.

As a human resources professional with 25 years of experience and someone who creates interviews and tests, it is most important to be prepared and be sincere. Make sure you research every firm you're applying for, and know the company when you're interviewing. Know what you do best, and give examples, when asked, of how you did your best work. Do not be unprepared. Over prepare. And, think of a project you'd actually DO for the company. Demonstrate how you can you add value based on your experience and expertise. Provide examples of how you work well with others, and exactly what you did when you worked on a team project. Think of "stories" about your successes beforehand, and be prepared to discuss. Find yourself a career coach and get some good advice.

      hey mate,

I can only give you my 2 cents but here we go.

To give a bit of background: i have recently graduated and have done something like 30-40 interviews of varying formats in the last 18 months or so. I have heard that question many times before and if im perfectly honest I have a good record in converting interviews to latter stages and/or offers. I say that only to create some kind of provenance for what is essentially just one of many opinions.

My tip if that you really really must be honest. When they ask for a weakness, honestly, saying you're a 'perfectionist' or get 'too bogged down in the details' etc comes across so badly and boring effectively. Its less important to come across as smart than as someone who is relatable. You wouldnt have gotten to the interview stage if they didnt think you were smart enough.
Further to this, its important to really try to create a story to what youre saying, something engaging to the interviewee.
I think one i used once was that I was simply very forgetful (possibly a rather innocent weakness) and i described how this had (in some detail) affected work i had done negatively and even joked about it.
The key final stage in a question like that is to then talk about how youre tackling it, i wouldnt even go so far as to say its been solved, you're human after all. To relate to my example, I then joked about how religiiously I have to stick to various lists now to remind me of everything I should be doing (lest i completely forget).
There's a good article in the economist this week which i couldnt agree with any more building from my experience. here is a link (ignore the title haha)

Seems so. He wasn't careful enough about the type of player he brought in. Balotteli should never have been there in the first place and Sterling is turning into more trouble than he's worth. You really can't have players like that in the dressing room.

I was watching the "class of 92" earlier and was struck by how upbeat the whole thing was....That's what makes a dressing room tick, not the likes of Balo and Sterling.

The problem is, he's rubbish, because he has the attitude "I'm number one, so why try harder". The people who become really good, work real hard. Like Messi and Ronaldo. My tip of the current crop of up and coming players: Schneiderlin. Not the lazy asses Balo (well, he's rather "down and going" than up and coming), Wilshere and Shaw.

The thing is, he's worse than he was at age of 18. Just tells enough of his work ethics. he could still be an okay good player if he understood he's not a world class and has to work harder.

I refer back to last summer when I guaranteed everybody that Balo is a complete waste of money and I'd rather take Long for those £12M than Balo for the £16M. In fact I think I did say that I wouldn't take Balo into any decent team if I was paid to take him. The thing is, you can always get a decent player who is going to do some work for you and not bring the whole team down, instead of a clown who thinks his the best and does nothing on pitch. And he really isn't able to do much either. Scoring a screamer from 50 tries is something most professional footballers could do, but they're wise enough tho understand it's not worth it to waste the attack those 49 times.

That's probably true. But Balo was reasonably productive for City during their first title season, and it's not like he was a model citizen back then, both on and off the pitch. This year he's been comically awful so his laziness/awful passing are much more relevant.

His overall game was pretty poor already then, but he got more good scoring chances and was more efficient. City is an over-dominant team in PL. The thing is, he peaked at age of 19 perhaps, and has become gradually worse since. That's the main reason why nobody should sign him. It's not as if he had injuries or was stuck to bench. He's been given his chances, everywhere, all the time. He just hasn't worked enough to take them.

That's not what he means, Rodgers in particular has screwed Sterling around, backed him into a corner if you will along with the club, especially considering the way the media makes it look Sterling is a money grabbing disloyal scumbag, which from what I've heard just isn't true. :/ Most of the other players feel the same about the manager too from what I gather.

It's a decision for the board to make. If you have players in your club who start deciding they don't want to play for a particular manager then the whole club has a problem. I can nearly guarantee you Sterling will do this again when he moves...

I don't think Sterling wants to choose the manager he plays for, its just that he no longer wants to be at the same club as Rodgers, it has nothing to do with him deciding who he plays for or not.

At 20 years old he is getting way ahead of himself....BR gave him his break at a very early age when plenty of other clubs would have waited for him to "develop". He needs to start thinking about how fortunate he is instead of constantly trying to shoot himself in the foot. Sadly experience has taught me that folk like him don't change...they just get worse.

Funny you mention that, A) Kenny gave him his break, B) Rodgers only actually started to use him when he really needed to due to injuries at the time, it turned out Sterling did well and he locked down a place, Rodgers has actually done sweet f all for the youngsters but buy mediocre players to guarantee they won't get a look in. The occasional cameo doesn't really count if he doesn't give them a run of games to prove themselves, like Flanno, who again was only used due to injury. Look at Teixeira, a very good cameo, and then never heard from again.

Yeah I know about the Kenny part. I also remember a few heads being turned at just how many games he was giving Sterling a couple of years ago. I'm a big fan of young players and believe that clubs are usually far too shy at playing them early, in Sterlings case it was forced but nonetheless he should be careful about biting the hand that feeds him...or fed him...

He got that occasional cameo rather with Keegan. With BR, he became a first team regular from the first season, and has been doing significantly better than under Keegan - especially attack wise, probably also due to having been played in a significantly more attacking role.

He even plays the kid in a position where he can really shine, not forcing him to do any work down in defence. Sterling sure is the one in the team who should not be complaining about BR.

His position? Where he is isolated, and struggles, he isn't a CF, and the way Rodgers has us playing now doesn't help us offensively at all, its an utter mess because Rodgers can't utilise effectively the players at his disposal. It's very disheartening as a fan. :/

Playing in attacking three as he has for whole season gives him much more chances to turn heads as he's done. Relatively to playing lower down, as under Keegan, when he scored a measly 2 goals and 1 assist in season.

I kinda doubt it. I've been a big Silva for FPL fan the last couple years, so maybe I'm just being a hipster, but he had 4, 6, 4 and 7 goals in the league the last 4 years. I'm not sure he's suddenly become a double digit goal scorer just because of one year. Still a good option but a notch below Sanchez/Hazard in terms of goal threat.

Yeah...a lot can happen. I was impressed with Lescott tonight. I have him benched but I may keep him and play him...Thoughts ?

        He'd be some defensive coordinator.

If football ever went the way of offensive and defensive specific coaches.

The problem is that defence and attack do not concern distinct groups of players in the team. They both concern all of them.

Very good point - its all about how he gets midfielders, forwards and all to buy into ITT.

This DGW is the epitome of bullshit. I hate it.

Doesn't help when everybody and his dog has tripled up on it (oh, some have sextupled on it). It was the side kicks that made the day, and for me they made the crappiest of days.

I don't. This time big time. Sad to end a strong season with such a low note.

        Current team for next week.

        Schmeichel,
        Terry, Skrtel, Schlupp
        Ramsey, Sanchez, Hazard, Cambiasso
        Aguero, Giroud, Kane

        Pantil, Hendo, Duff, PVA

        1.3M and 2 ft's
Ranking about 1300 and have a very slender lead in a couple of ML's

This is 1 option but not sure..
        Skrtel- Vlaar
        Giroud- Costa.. ?

See how Giroud gets on. Maybe Giroud to Lukaku and Hendo to someone else or Kane to someone.
