In the wake of the penultimate Gameweek, we take another look at how the Fantasy Football Scout leagues are shaping up. With leagues in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Ultimate Fantasy Premier League, Sky Sports and the Fantasy iTeam (FiT) Champions League game, there’s plenty to catch up on.

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE

With one round of fixtures left to play out, Simon March, aka “Dufflinks”, boasts a 34-point lead at the top of the Scout League and the overall rankings. His 70-point haul this Gameweek can be attributed to some astute decisions in defence, with Wes Morgan, Patrick van Aanholt and Simon Mignolet accruing 29 points between them. Alexis Sanchez failed to deliver as captain, but David Silva (nine points) and Sergio Aguero (five points) kept Simon’s tally ticking over.

Second-placed Kev Gleave clawed back four points on Simon this Gameweek while surging up to second place in the global rankings. Kev also captained Sanchez and fielded the Manchester City duo but opted for double Sunderland defensive coverage, with Van Aanholt and Costel Pantilimon serving up strong returns.

Jon Summer stormed into third place with an 85-point tally. Ranked fourth overall, Jon made the brave – but ultimately lucrative – call to captain Laurent Koscielny while also plumping for the above-mentioned Black Cats duo and Leicester City’s Jeffrey Schlupp in defence.

Mariusz Fyrstenberg dropped to fourth after notching a respectable 61 points. He also handed the captain’s armband to Sanchez and went with the Sky Blues duo, but a trio of Liverpool recruits (Martin Skrtel, Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson) failed to deliver the goods. Stuart Shingler slipped one place into fifth by way of a 61-point Gameweek. Stuart was given little to cheer about besides the output of Van Aanholt and Pantilimon.

In the Fantasy Football Scout Members League, Simon March  ended the week with a 65-point lead over second-placed Stuart Shingler. Killian Long  now occupies the third berth following a disappointing 58-point haul. The Members League retained second position in the FPL’s “Best League” rankings, behind the Scout League.

ULTIMATE FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE

Casting an eye over the UFPL Scout League, Damian Lindall (2813) remains in first place, but Obay Eid (2797) closed the gap by 22 points after fielding differentials like Graziano Pelle. Scout contributor Alex Bowers – who won the beta version of the game last term – entered the top three courtesy of a 98-point Gameweek. To join our UFPL league, use the code 524-87.

SKY SPORTS FANTASY FOOTBALL

Geoff Pryor (2427 points) increased his lead at the peak of the Scout League to 13 points over second-placed Steven Adams (2414 points). Katie Burgin (2391) maintains her grip on the bronze medal position. The winner of our Sky league – which retained top spot in the League of Leagues – wins £1,000.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Our official Champions League game this season is the Fantasy iTeam (FiT) offering – a free, reliable and easy-to-use Fantasy football app. Adriel Cheung (852 points) extended his lead at the summit to 26 points, with Gavin Rolston (826 points) reclaiming the second-place berth. Juan Garcia (825 points) slipped to third. There’s an iPad mini on offer to the winner – the league name is Fantasy Football Scout and the pin is 11155.

      @ZlatanGiggity

Cheers mate, going well so far. How's yours going?

I won a big cash cup final this week by 2 points thanks to last nights 0-0, the only result which saw victory after he brought in Mane and Rose! was unreal

I am 16 points ahead of my ML rival in a big cash league as well. This week I have Fab and Hazard and need to get rid of Fab, not willing to take a hit on Hazard for the last week just hope plays.

Looking to get in Silva or Bolasie or maybe Mata, you?

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9859157/psg-players-make-up-the-highest-paid-team-in-the-world-according-to-new-figures

PSG players the highest paid, Real second, Man City third and Barcelona fourth. However, of all the leagues, the PL pays the highest wages at around £2.2 million on average per player. This survey was conducted looking at other sports than just football as well. A very interesting quote is:

"In a list of the top 12 highest paying sporting institutions, there are eight football teams – including the clubs who will make up the top four in the Premier League at this season’s end. Just outside of the top payers, Liverpool sit at 14th in the list." It just goes to show how much money is being thrown around in general and especially in the PL.

Falcao has single handedly improved Man United's ranking there

Aye, though a lot of the players at Old Trafford are on crazy money.

'Thrown around', see that's where I prefer the term 'pissed down the toilet'. Liverpool 14th is a joke, we can't afford that.

Liverpool's wage bill is high. Too many deadwood players like Enrique, racking up 50k a week. It all adds up. GJ on 120, Skrtel on 100 etc.

Ridiculous, and if the Brodge would have it his way, 10-15 more players to 'pad' out the squad. *sigh*

Aye. Look at it in terms of last season's signings, one or two left but nearly an entirely new team came on board with big wages.

Goes to show you if Pool had signed half the players, or fewer, they could have maybe offered one or two superstar wages instead, which possibly would have been better.

Yep. Too much money invested into deadwood squad players.

Unfortunately, yes. Some can still come good, I think. Others need to be ditched.

Well it's not even 9 yet so I don't want to get R rated 😉

If you fancy the full report. It really shows you how much money goes in the Premier League, compared to say the Bundesliga where players earn a fraction of what they would in the PL.

Football is going that way though I suppose, it's all becoming very commercialised. :/

That it is. A big part of that is the TV deals and sponsorship deals, absolutely crazy money. The PL is the worst by far. Absolutely crazy wages going around.

Since my main rival in my only cash league sits 4 points ahead of me with Silva and no Hazard, don't suppose anyone would put me off doing Hazard to Silva and using the spare funds to upgrade Moreno to Kolarov with my other transfer?

Would give a team of 11 home players:

    Schmeichel
    Terry, Kolarov, Schlupp
    Sanchez, Silva, Ramsey, Cambiasso
    Aguero(c), Giroud, Benteke(vc)

    Subs: Pantilimon, Henderson, PVA, McShane

Worried about Arsenal rotation to be fair but who is anyone's guess so better upgrading Moreno, with Henderson coming in should one be rested.

    Please help!

    ML wrapped up as 98 points clear and roughly 100 places off the top 7k In England so can't really see me doing much else, how about these for moves?;

Hendo, Giroud, Ramsey > Puncheon, Lukaku, Silva (-8)?.

    Worth a go?

100 places off the top 7k in England, yet 98 points clear in your league. Can I join it next season. 😀

Can anyone advise on the best way to play block tactics against my rival, I am 31 points ahead. What is the safest thing to do with 1 FT? Do I take a hit?

My team = Myhill, Bertrand,Terry, Hutton, Alderweild, PvA, Sanchez, Puncheon, Ozil, Silva, Hendo, Aguero, Kane and Giroud.

His team = De Gea, Azpi, Williams, Fonte, Duff, Wisdom, Cazorla, Sterling, Sanchez, Hendo, Downing, Kane, Aguero and Ings

I just want to play it safe and be boring if I have to do be, thanks guys

I could get Smalling or Jones? That could block his De Gea clean sheets?

I don't think he can catch you with that team. If you want to play it remove one of your Arsenal players for a guaranteed starter.

Nah there are about 6 or so episodes, all with different themes, hard to explain, have a quick Google for a read up.

i think he's great, I think he's mellowed a little bit in recent years (possibly because he's married to konnie huq) but he's still got an amazing way with words and just absolutely nails it like you said. i still love weekly wipe. all his old gameswipe stuff his great too and his column in the guardian used to be excellent (havent read it recently)

don't think he's 'mainstream' here though really.
