Having finished fifth in their first season under Roberto Martinez, Everton failed to live up to our expectations last time around. With Europa League duties adding to their schedule, the Merseysiders stumbled home in eleventh spot, winning back-to-back matches on just three occasions in a bitterly disappointing campaign for Toffees fans and Fantasy managers alike.

In our latest article for members, we assess the Toffees’ squad, focusing on their key performers in terms of creativity and goal threat.

            Because Benteke is an average striker at Aston Villa, and Mandzukic is proven quality at the highest level. Integral to Bayern under Jupp in their CL victory, lest we forget.

              Benteke is much better than Mandzukic actually. He shouldn't be penalized because he plays at Villa. He's world class.

                Benteke is world class at heading the ball. But not a good finisher, poor left foot, poor work rate, poor runs, very poor hold up play, poor link play.

                It's hard to find strikers in the market nowadays, and yet Benteke is still at Villa. Why hasn't a top club gone in yet?

                  Poor hold up play? Woah, I highly disagree there. Considering Villa's main outlet has been Tekkers this season, and one of the focal points of their play is lobbing the ball from the start to Tekkers, attracting multiple defenders and consequently exploiting the flanks by making through balls to one of Gabby, Sinclair, Grealish, etc.

                  Think you have a rather unfair assessment on his play IMO and his decision to stay at Villa. He's still 24 y/o, and you could argue he single-handedly took Villa out from the relegation zone .

                  Mandzukic made the move to a big club in Bayern only in 2012 (26 y/o). Benteke still has time and has all the individual ability to flourish with the still naive Belgium national team, IMO. 🙂

              No doubting Mandzukic's form back with Bayern/Dinamo, but if I were to be comparing current form/future potential, I'd rate Tekkers as the better prospect tbh. Both great target man, no doubt about it. Mandzukic better in the air by far, but I can't look past Benteke's better footballing ability overall IMO, also considering the support he's had behind him at club level and is only 24 y/o, I'd rate Tekkers as having the better potential as well IMO. No doubt Tekkers could attract attention from big clubs as well.

                One season away from Bayern, and he scored 25 goals in 41 games this season! I really think Benteke is hugely overrated. Not even close to good enough for a CL side, imo.
