Newcastle can count themselves a little fortunate remain in the Premier League after their decision to part company with Alan Pardew midway through the previous campaign proved disastrous. Having won seven times and earned 26 points in their first 19 fixtures, the Magpies stuttered to safety under the guidance of John Carver, with three victories and 13 points accrued over the remainder of the season.

In this latest article for members, we assess Newcastle’s faltering campaign, running the rule over their squad in terms of goal threat and creativity ahead of the Steve McClaren era.

Apparently we bid €80 million for Muller which has gone under the radar. Said to have been rejected regardless but Woodward seems to be hunting a muppet signing again this year.

I think we want both in the squad but agreed it's ridiculously ambitious. Even if we agreed a fee, convincing Muller to leave Bayern at his peak would be near impossible.

Clearly in for a striker though somewhere, we must be.

            That would be some signing!!

Muller is one of my favourite players in the world along with Robben. Ignoring their play-acting, they're just terrific players. If Muller joined UTD I'd have him in my team faster than you could type 'FPL is open!'

According to a guy from twitter (@MarkRogers1)

    - Aguero is the most expensive FPL player at 13.0
    - Frimino is slightly more expensive then Coutinho
    - Kane is priced higher then Giroud
    - Sanchez and Hazard have a combined price of 22.5 Million
    - 3 Big changes coming to FPL this season.

Same number of shots/game and 0.4KP/game. Only 2 goals and 5 assists more than Coutinho, that to in Bundesliga.
              They are equally good.

Sounds right. Kane should be 10m and Giroud 9m. 22.5m sounds cheap for Sanchez and Haz, but plausible (hope it 11 and 11.5m, respectively). Looking forward to the big changes, wish they wiuld do more fore defensive mids.

Predictions for 2015-16 season top 6 based on Transfer business to date...

    1. CHE (complete squad, stability)
    2. ARS (Petr a massive signing)
    3. MUN (Depay and Darmian additions)
    4. MCI (Lost Milner, no new signings to date. Likely to get Sterling)
    5. TOT (Toby will boost defense)
    6. LIV (Firmino, Milner and Clyne notable additions but also losing Sterling and Gerrard)

    What do you think?

CHE MUN MCI ARS TOT LIV
United & City very interchangeable. I can imagine Arsene not buying more quality and going with potential from now - think they'll have a bad start with a worn out Sanchez and Cech isn't going to make up for that.

          Coleman - Jagielka - Stones - Baines

2nd best back 4 in the PL - a good place to start. No EL. Lukaku a 20 goal a season striker. Lots to like.

thing is with utd, ok we had no Europe last season which helped but everything else was pretty chaotic; LVG not getting there till late, injury to carrick, ADM not firing, no real CB pairing until the last few games when smalling-jones did well, rooney having to play midfield, falcoa scoring 4 in 29 games, a 80% fit RVP, LVG constantly changing formations, style of play etc etc. I think this season could be the opposite. rooney up top can get 25+, if ADM gets anywhere near his best then we have a brilliant player, if depay hits the ground running, sneiderlin to shore things up, otamendi or ramos to come in etc then utd could even win the prem

I think utd are very close to having a prem winning team. Chelsea look to have no weaknesses at the mo but I remember thinking that about them years ago when they essien, terry, lampard, drogba, cech etc at their peak and thinking "this team are going to dominate for years to come". then utd won the prem 3 years in a row

Stoke is nothing special. Good rep cos they rarely lose there but quite for most of the games. Absolutely avoid anything in Liverpool or Manchester, all 4 grounds are dead. Palace looks decent but never been. Best bet is probs in London if you want more than 1 match but avoid Chelsea.

Tbf I have only ever seen Hull there so it probs isn't the biggest game of the season for Stoke. It just always seemed quiet until they scored and again after. Maybe it is different for a bigger team or an exciting match but I always preferred Bolton, Blackburn, Blackpool and teams like that for an atmosphere although they aren't exactly premier league football anymore.

This, if you came to Newcastle v Watford it would probably be very flat but Newcastle v Sunderland on the other hand you will see nothing like it

problem is that for games like tyne-wear derby is really hard to get tickets.

Yeah they sell out within a couple of hours you have to be very quick, some people buy tickets and sell them on later for hundreds so you could always do that. But trust me the quality of football's not worth it

Please tell me that was a joke. Goodison park is the single most dead ground in the UK. No atmosphere whatsoever, the stewards try to make you sit down for the entire match and they have to play those pathetic WW2 like songs to get people to wake up t half time. I have never been so disappointed by a matchday experience. Somehow it is even worse than Anfield and that was pretty dire. Seems great when YNWA is going on then after that there is just 90 mins of silence.

No chance my dear lap dog. We've had none of the signs or false starts of yesteryears. It won't be this week. Just hope they get their act together for next. There are only so many holiday days I an take.
