With the clamour for “Rate My Team” opinions ramping up, we thought we’d not only provide a place to collate such requests, but also allocate a window and some FFS team members to address them.

The first Fantasy Football Scout Rate My Team Surgery will take place this evening with myself and Jonty joined by an array of moderators and contributors in a bid to answer the first batch of Rate My Team queries and player pick questions.

What’s more, for the later surgeries, we’ve recruited some real experts to help us out.

Next week’s sessions are provisionally booked in for Wednesday and Friday and we’re lining up a cast of former Fantasy Premier League champions to join us in giving their views on your queries.

We plan to run Google Hangouts for part of the session, allowing you to drop in and listen to the variety of nonsense being discussed as we go through the threads.

Tonight’s surgery is booked in for 9pm until 11pm UK time and we’ll be posting an article to host your queries an hour before we get online.

Keep an eye out for the article which will appear in the community section this evening.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

First post and RMT of the year. My main lesson learnt last year was that constant tinkering and rotation hurt me way more than it benefitted me. Going for a pricey backline, 3-5-2 and only looking to rotate cheaper mids and fwd.

Will be playing AOA chip in GW1 with some crazy team captained by Lukaku then WCing to this team in GW2:

    Schmiechel-Schwarzer

    Ivan- Kosc- Shaw (Coates- Richards)

    Hazard- Hendo- Sterling/Walcott- Adam/Young- Ritchie

    Aguero- Deeney (Barrow)

Anyone know how likely Adam is to be a regular this year? His game is amazing for Fantasy.

      Schwarzer gone - get Panti/Guzan/Ruddy

Instead Ivan - Kosc - Shaw get Azpi-Bellerin-Rojo(Darmian)

      Sterling/Walcott - Silva

      Adam/Young - Mane

what's more get one more solid FOR - Denney for the bench and than Berahino/Sakho/Pelle

Ok guys... Arsenal question... They seem to be one of the trickiest to call this year...

So we feel Bellerin is nailed? I currently have Mertesacker, but would rather Hector if he was playing.

Also, as a good 4.5 options, do we think Coquelin is nailed?

    Thanks guys!

You can only be so much nailed in the Arsenal team. Lots of depth, and no standout quality in any position as such.

OK, I'm thinking my post is too long, hence the lack of response I've received. I'll try to be more concise...

    Current Setup
    Schmeichel (Butland)
Azpilicueta - Mertesacker - Cédric (Coates - Francis)
Hazard - Walcott - Henderson - Richie (Coquelin)
    Rooney - Benteke - Sakho

** Walcott and Rooney will go to bring Ozil and Aguero in, in due course.

The above is a recent change though, and I'm still agonising that the former players may have been stronger overall. That would involve:

    Mertesacker -> Koscielny
Coquelin -> Colback (or maybe a punt on Grealish)
Costa -> Retained, with no plan to get Aguero in
Walcott -> Retained, no need to downgrade

I've also contemplated I could keep Walcott and downgrade Cédric to another 4.5 defender.

I'm frustrated my Aguero plan means,
    - losing Koscielny
    - Limited flexibility in 5th MF spot

Thoughts on any or all of the above?? (wasn't much shorter)

    Could this work? RMT please

    3-4-3

    Panti (Krul)

Cedric Azpi (regular) Francis Huth Gamboa (rotation)

    Hazard Silva Chadli Santi (Wanyama)

    Benteke Costa Deeney

Will upgrade Costa for Aguero when reported ready and downgrade Silva to Mane to free funds

    1. theheadhunters1905
      • 10 Years
      10 years, 11 months ago

It could, but I would go for someone else instead of Krul, Newcastle can be very dodgy
      Def - ok
      Mid - ok

For - start with Rooney instead of Costa

Re Benteke might be worth the gamble

Thanks. Good shout. Krul did wonders for me a couple of seasons back, but their defensive players atm are pretty risky to be behind I guess.

Will consider the Costa-> Rooney trade.

I'm playing Pants as my only goalie, good fixtures and I fancy a few cleansheets along the savepoints. Downgrade Krul -> 4.0 and upgrade Santi -> Walcott. Also Rooney for Costa.

Thanks Zon. Yes, I reckon he will benefit good from the new savepoints. Walcott will possibly be playing as a forward and get more points, but I'm still not sure about Wengers line up. Will monitor them closely along with Costa on Sunday.

The only thing I'd add the HeadHunters comments is, while I have Cedric myself (albeit as the strongest part of my 3 way rotation), I have been contemplating the fact that Southampton have Europa league football, which is notoriously taxing on teams (particularly those without too much depth). Maybe he's not reliable enough for one of your first team regulars.

      Just a thought.

That's a good thought. Thanks! I really want a Southampton defender in there as their opening matches looks very decent, but will need to re-think my two regulars.

Sorry for double posting this, but got the bottom post (again) last page.

Okay, getting closer. I have a few options how to finish my lineup, would appreciate your opinion. If don't feel like writing, just a letter, please! 🙂

    Pants Hennessey
    ____ Cedric Francis ____ 4.0
    Haz Wally Sterling ____ Anya
    Rooney Benteke ____

    A) Mertesacker, Bassong, Mane, Sakho
    B) Koscielny, Jenkinson, Mane, Wilson
    C) Koscielny, Azpilicueta, Ritchie, Sakho

First one has got the funds in midfield and attack, does that lave me too exposed at the back? Would be easy to downgrade Sterling or Mane to fund Aguero for Rooney. Second has funds spread more even, but no Sakho. The last one has the most solid def, but in order to make that happen have to downgrade Mane to unproven Ritchie. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

So here were are! The (nearly) beginning of the football season. Please see below my (basically) finalised team.

Do not be nice... Take. It. Apart! I need all the advice I can get -

    Steklenberg (Rudd)

Koz - Azpi - Shaw (Francis - Bassong)

Silva - Fab - Wally - Mane (Ritchie)

    Deeney - Rooney ( Sakho)

Steklenburg is average, get 2 rotating 4.5s and rack up those save points.

      Shaw is always injured.

      Your midfield is very decent.

Your attack looks quite light. Deeney and Sakho will probably blow hot and cold all season. Could do with a more established second striker (think Pelle/ Lukaku / Giroud / Benteke

      1. Willdo
        • 11 Years

I was thinking Steklenburg was a good in to the Southampton defence as I reckon they will remain solid this year. Rotating keepers is however a good option which I'll look at cheers.

Just gonna stick with the main man Rooney and hope he does the business haha

    Kolarov,
There seems a massive difference between the season projections for kolarov. Where he is on a lowly 83 points forecast on projections. Whereas on rate my team he is consistently one of the highest ranking defenders.

Is this an error? Or do people know if he is a regular number 1 pick now?

Cant find him mentioned recently on the site

    Azpilicueta/O'Shea/Clyne/Fonte/Turner
    Özil/Hazard/Mané/Barry/Wanyama

All of your subs are risks.... swap Hart for a 4.5 goalkeeper + get a £4.0 backup - Leicester keepers a good idea... use the money saved to upgrade Targett and STaylor to 2 £4.5s ..... Micah Richards is a good shout, Huth from Leicester too maybe. For Mulumbu, no one is 100% sure he'll play. Plenty more £4.5 midfielders like Fletcher (WBA) or Wanyama (Soton) who get the regular minutes.
