Dugout Discussion – Man United Vs Tottenham

It’s here. The new Premier League season is upon us and begins within the fitting confines of the “theatre of dreams”.

Old Trafford hosts the season opener, as Louis van Gaal’s freshly sculpted Manchester Untied lineup host Tottenham.

It’s a lip-smacking, sun drenched prospect, played on a billiard table of a surface, with an array of Fantasy talent on show.

Immediately we hope to assess the prospects of both Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane – two protagonists who will surely play some part in our seasons, if not our Gameweek 1 lineups.

Following that, we’ve a quartet of three o’clock kick-offs and a tea-time date with the champions.

It’s great to be back.

    What are people actually caring that Rooney might get a lucky assist. Surely owners should be worried he is looking terrible and playing like a donkey?

      He is very isolated tbf. Like RVP was last year playing up front. Maybe being the lone striker in an LVG team is actually a sign to avoid a player! Mata looking like he has much more potential - more involved, goal attempts, FKs, Pens & 2.0 cheaper...

    Even though I do believe it's an assist, I dont understand why FPL are taking so long over it. They know the rules, surely it is a simple decision?

        If an opposing player touches the ball after the final pass before a goal is scored, significantly altering the intended destination of the ball, then no assist is awarded.

        "significantly altering the intended destination of the ball". Rooney controlled it, he didn't shoot. No assist.

            Let me be more clear:
            He didn't shoot, that's obvious.
            If you'd say it's a pass, what I quoted above means there's no assist.

            If it's neither, the OG rules state there is no assist.

    I dont mind riiney not getting an assist(owner) as long as they dont award such "assists" all season

    Im 90% sure even worse cases will end up gettig 3 points over the season.
