Dugout Discussion – Man United Vs Tottenham

It’s here. The new Premier League season is upon us and begins within the fitting confines of the “theatre of dreams”.

Old Trafford hosts the season opener, as Louis van Gaal’s freshly sculpted Manchester Untied lineup host Tottenham.

It’s a lip-smacking, sun drenched prospect, played on a billiard table of a surface, with an array of Fantasy talent on show.

Immediately we hope to assess the prospects of both Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane – two protagonists who will surely play some part in our seasons, if not our Gameweek 1 lineups.

Following that, we’ve a quartet of three o’clock kick-offs and a tea-time date with the champions.

It’s great to be back.

      It goes with the territory of objectivity. If you start giving the scorers the opportunity to award assists based on opinion of biggest influence of opens up all sorts of blow ups. This assist was more logical than when a player gets a bootlace on a beautiful pass on the way to a striker and gets the points

            Rooney has played some nice passes in general play but United have not shown much attacking threat for Rooney to look good to be honest.

    The assist is a grey area. They should just add the “inadvertent touch” line to the bit on OGs as well as goals.

    I think the implication though is that an inadvertent touch counts as a pass within these rules.

    By their own rules, in FPL terms it was a clear assist.

    Obviously in the real world it was just Rooney doing a bit of a Carlton Palmer impression in failing to control a football, but it is definitely a FPL assist.

    Rooney upfront on his own is a bad move for LVG. He's to slow with the ball at his feet in that position, much better No10 imo
