Dugout Discussion – Man United Vs Tottenham

It’s here. The new Premier League season is upon us and begins within the fitting confines of the “theatre of dreams”.

Old Trafford hosts the season opener, as Louis van Gaal’s freshly sculpted Manchester Untied lineup host Tottenham.

It’s a lip-smacking, sun drenched prospect, played on a billiard table of a surface, with an array of Fantasy talent on show.

Immediately we hope to assess the prospects of both Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane – two protagonists who will surely play some part in our seasons, if not our Gameweek 1 lineups.

Following that, we’ve a quartet of three o’clock kick-offs and a tea-time date with the champions.

It’s great to be back.

    Clear assist and correct its given, he took the pace off the ball and set it up in front of him to knock it in, the defender beat him too it.

    If a United player had run through and smashed it in off that Rooney touch we wouldn't have been having this discussion as the assist would have been obvious.

      This assist is basically the same as those Ashley Young assists for stopping the ball for the Rooney free kicks in that 8-2 Arsenal game, super cheap assists, but an assist by the rules.

      It was clearly not an assist as the rules are different for Own Goal assists:

      Own Goals
      If a player shoots or passes the ball and forces an opposing player to put the ball in his own net, then an assist is awarded.

      Rooney neither shot or passed it, so not an assist 🙂

    Bentaleb shocking so far. Gave the ball away 3-4 times. One lead to the goal.

    But Spurs was the better team for 50% of the 1st half and we scored all the goals. That's positive 🙂
