Welcome to our annual attempt to select the best and worst options in the Fantasy Premier League game and assess how the forthcoming Premier League season will pan out.

Unlike previous attempts, last year saw a number of successful predictions from the Scouts. Granville was correct in predicting a stellar debut season for Diego Costa, Danny Ings and Gylfi Sigurdsson, while Jordan Henderson rewarded my faith in him as a budget midfielder.

Naturally we didn’t get it right all the time and there were some noticeable horror predictions. Andre Schurrle’s departure from Chelsea meant Mark’s guess that he would be the year’s best differential proved ill-fated. Nikica Jelavic, meanwhile, failed to live up to the hype generated by Ryan as being the top scoring budget forward of the year.

Here’s the link if you want to remind yourself just how reliable our soothsaying powers can be.

Hopefully in our latest predictions for the forthcoming Premier League our embarrassing picks will be consigned to the past for good.

Missed Mane in your team, so I'd stick w/ Benteke... Unless of course you'd like to reshuffle the deck, so to speak.

so I've seen Deeney come and go in the mentions..can someone who knows about Watford let me know if they think he'll translate his Championship form to PL?

he seems to be very consistent is the thing...just not sure if he's a good pick

So many talking of playing it safe in GW1....!!

What are you being safe from? As long as you don't do anything to silly you have 37 GW's to get over it.

Enjoy the game. Go with your gut and not make choices through fear.

I just know Deeney is (c) and on pens, but Wilson has better fixs.

Deeney seems to have better previous history in scoring goals than Wilson, but is older.

I've gone for fixtures, but I think I'm talking myself out of it.

super consistent..makes me feel it'll translate..a hot flash in the Championship maybe has a chance, but someone putting up these numbers could notch quite well for his price point

          Hi Evs
I would go with Wilson for the first 8 weeks, our fixtures are way better. Wilson is quick and a lot stronger than he looks. I like Deeney, he's very consistent, but he needs good service.

Good point. I took a gamble in week 1 last season, which backfired and left me around the 2 million mark. Still ended up finishing around 12,000.

But hey, maybe if I'd played it safe I'd have cracked the top 10k... 🙂

So many choices between Gw2 and Gw38 got you to 12k (which is still respectable...)

Imagine if you play it safe and you get little while your "riskier" choices rip it up...

I'd rather go with my gut knowing I was happy at the time to make those moves, good or not.

        Good luck though mate.

If you think he's going to start... personally I don't. Think he'll get a cameo and be primed for Chelsea GW2.

although spurs have a good fixtures for a while, i just havent been sold on chadli yet i dont know why

that aside pretty strong team, although im a fan of a cheaper defence (although azpi is guranteed points), so i could create better rotation, for example LFC have two equally difficult games as do spurs and a decent run so clyne is a cheaper azpi option and you could downgrade chadli to ritchie who is unproven but with bournemouths attack play and his incredible record last year + rotation abilit with sakho or tekkers i think thats a decent punt

if you do want guranteed spurs cover, bentaleb as your 4.5?

maybe lose s taylor also for huth or morgan from leciester?

      good gw1 line up though

Right guys, this is my only real worry tonight: CAPTAINCY

Assume you have Sterling, Mane, Walcott, Hazard, and Rooney. Who would you captain?

What my heart is telling me: Sterling, Walcott, Hazard, Rooney, Mane (in that order)

What my rational mind is telling me: Hazard, Rooney, Walcott, Sterling, Mane (in that order)

What are you guys telling me?
