    REPOST

Anyone remember the price changes at the start of last season? I seem to recall them being extremely slow.

Is it possible that the thresholds are higher at the start of the season to reduce price volatility. There are so many players engaged early who don't hang around so there would be some logic to it.

I remember WC'ers being annoyed. Anyone else have similar recollections?

I think it's well accepted that the price rise sites are just guessing at the moment and don't know what the algorithm is

    1. Mary

Nope, not possible. Because of the volastrical majesticology of the mechanism it actually goes through something called a fosiliac period in which the value simply hibernates into a deep coma of cheese aroma. But hey, what do I know, I'm just a guy who put a bunch of smart-sounding words together?

The threshold is based on the number of 'active' managers. As its GW1 there's no managers counted as 'inactive' so the threshold seems higher.

Ok that's logical. If it was perfectly proportionate that wouldn't explain prices changing any more slowly though. Hmmm, maybe I imagined it...I just remember a lot of folks being peeved :/

So anyone have any plans now the game week has finished?

I'm hoping that with no goal I can put off Aguero for one more week. Thinking I might free up 1.5m to do Wilson to Gomis, Can do this with:

    Hazard to almost anyone
    Walcott to Payet
    Ivanovic to Darmian/Kolarov

As much as I don't see points for Ivanovic this week I'm most tempted by the Walcott move, even though he might start he's just a headache really.

Will cost 4 points either way but think I'm okay with that.

Basically got nearly all of my 50/50 decisions wrong this game week...

Hennessy instead of McCarthy (benched anyway)
    Koscielny instead of Clyne
    Chaldi instead of Cabaye
    Lambert instead of Cisse

But when I look at those decisions and my team in general, I still feel like I've made the right calls long term. Going to save my transfer this week and hope to build on my below average 27pt start...

I correctly predicted the Liverpool side for Sunday. As a Liverpool fan, I can categorically tell you right now, Alberto Moreno will start against Bournemouth. Transferring Gomez in will end in tears.

Why would he change a side that kept a CS?

      1. Dr Joness

Because Gomez isn't an attacking players whatsover. His assist was pure luck, Coutinho did all the work. He was the type of defender you'd want against Stoke Away, and against Jon Walters.
At Anfield we will deploy a full back with more pace and can add width to the team, also somone who is left footed on that side who can play early crosses into Benteke. Gomez is right footed playing on the left, he made 0 crosses, and no attacking runs into the box.

I just feel with Francis and Ritchie linking up so well on the left, a right footed player will struggle on that front. Also I'd have a more experienced defender in Moreno to play that game. There will be a lot of pressure to get 3 points next Monday, one element of surprise would be to throw Moreno into the mix for Howe to get a headache, because that'll restrict Francis going forward and will increase Bentekes chances to get some headers due to Moreno crossing ability. Also I suspect us to dominate the game, and Moreno would play on the left wing most of the game, kind of like Kolarov tonight. I genuinely can't see Gomez being very effective in that role.

I did contemplate Ritchie giving Gomez a tough time, so you could be right. I just hope not though.

Can I just add, Stokes two best chances of the match game from a Joe Gomez error. He didn't play as good as you may think. He was in no man's land when Walters won the header on the throw in line and then almost set up a goal. The game was a very dull dull match, with very little clear cut chances. On a different day, Gomez wouldve looked a lot worse had it been a better attacking opponent.

I never said he played well, the assist was a sideways pass and to be honest I havent seen much of him but I hear he had a good pre season. Rodgers is obviously putting his faith in the lad, I hope he continues to, thats all. It would seem strange to throw him in away to Stoke where they were recently pumped, to keep a cleanie and then remove him for the next home game against arguably easier opposition.

    Hey all,

I'd appreciate an assessment of my current thoughts... It might have to happen tonight given Mahrez rising.

I'm thinking for GW4 I want Aguero and Silva. They will score like mad. Therefore:
Sterling to Mahrez this week, Walcott to Silva next week. And maybe Aguero in for Rooney for -4 (possibly wait though). Thanks

Do you want Aguero and Silva or do you want both these and Mahrez? Because if you don't necessarily need Mahrez you can wait. Not that I think he'll go up tonight anyway.

i wouldn't captain Tekkers, it's going to take some time for liverpool players to click with Benteke.

Will everyone just hold tight and stop knee jerking players in. It's only the first GW and sterling/wally are getting the punt already?!

If we continued like this our team would be different every week chasing last weeks lost points.

Hold it together and save your transfer. If next week you are sure your team isn't right then you have 2 FT to play with.

You have your 2FTs I want £££££££ until January then I build an expensive team!

I've been there last season. You end up point hitting yourself into the bottom of the league and come January you have an extra 0.5+ to spend and the players you need to sell to make that money are likely to stay in your team. Pointless

Knee jerking to chase last week's points is a bad strategy.

Sticking your head in the sand is also a bad strategy.

Everyone that didn't know now does know that Walcott's gametime is not secure. If he can't get picked when Sanchez is unavailable to start then when can Wenger be relied on to select him?

I don't say he won't start this weekend. I do say he won't start every game and for 9.0 you want someone that does.

Therefore removing Walcott (who may get a price drop) in favour of someone else (maybe one who may get a price rise) seems a fairly sensible move. You are going to have to do it sooner or later.

This will change when he starts next week and scores a brace. He is explosive. I put sterling in that bracket too.

          Good for you. 😕

"Explosive" is one of the most stupid phrases used on FFS. It is irrelevant for any player other than a captain. Points accrued divided by gameweeks in your squad divided by price is the number that matters.

Incidentally, to be accurate your post should say "if" he starts next week and "if" he scores a brace. Asserting that it will happen when it is very much a matter of surmise (and bias) is no argument.

anyone else desperately trying to save a transfer and then look at doing 2/3 post Friday's deadline? I remember Mark promoting the virtues of that strategy last season and remember it being helpful at times for me too. Yes you might lose/not gain some early value but there's still time for that.

For me for instance, Wally to Sanchez seems to best longer term move, yet i'd need 2 trades to do it - thinking it's better to do so with the flexibility 2 frees comes with?

yeah. I was thinking this earlier but the trade off is that you could miss hauls, i.e. Fancy Kane right now, do I wait for free transfers or do it while he has a nice home fixture, tough decision

    Worst. GW1. Ever.

My GK situation in my abomination of a team is:

    Courtois and Hennessey

    Would you do:

    A) Courtois - Cech/Mignolet/Adrian
    B) Hennessey - McCarthy
