Fantasy Bet is the latest game to catch our eye in our search for new and different ways of playing weekly and daily Fantasy Football. A key factor in this new offering is its simplicity, which replicates the familiar Fantasy Premier League (FPL) rules and scoring.

Another major plus is the focus on customised leagues, offering the chance to create tailor-made contests based on all the week’s games, single matches whilst only allowing players from certain teams to be picked. Those Manchester United fans dreaming of a Manchester City and Liverpool player-free league should definitely take a look.

We’re partnering with the game over the season and Tom Fenley will be opening his account and waging another £100 of stake money, starting this coming Friday. Tom will also be offering player recommendations in tomorrow’s “Weekly Shop” article.

For now though, here’s the full skinny on Fantasy Bet…

What is it?

Understanding the scoring and gameplay of Fantasy Bet couldn’t be simpler for those familiar with FPL. It recreates the same rules of selecting a 15-man squad, with a starting XI, four substitutes and a captain as well as vice captain.

The scoring is also identical to FPL. The only exception is the slightly different bonus points allocation, although it is also based on a performance-based  statistical model as FPL is.

There are slight tweaks, though. While initial player prices mirror FPL, they will remain unchanged until a January transfer window realignment. There’s no need to worry about Riyad Mahrez’ price rise, then.

Another change is that the number of players Fantasy managers can use from one team increases as the pool of teams that can be selected from falls. For a league based on a single match, up to 15 players from one side can be selected if you feel particularly confident they will do the business.

Why Should I Play?

Fantasy Bet’s FPL familiarity makes it an easy game to dive straight into and there is an appealing flexibility around leagues, with free to enter contests as well and entry price leagues.

Although you can only enter one team per league, you can enter as many as you like and also enter the same team in multiple leagues.

In addition, Fantasy Bet has created its own leagues, called “Guaranteed Games”, which offer a cast-iron minimum payout. Once registered and logged in all leagues can be found in the Find Games section.

When playing there are also live points updates during matches, another plus point that always appeals.

How Do I Start?

It is pretty straightforward. Simply register an account for free here. You are then able set up and join leagues.

Leagues can be open to a select group or to all. If you want to only include friends make sure you select the ‘invite only’ option when creating your league.

After joining a league you can then select your team and are taken automatically to the team selection tool and player list.

Fantasy Bet has set up a number of free games, which still offer cash prizes. A good starting point is Fantasy Bet’s Freeroll league.

The deadline to submit a team is also generous, and set 20 minutes before the fixture, so there is plenty of time to take in the teamsheets before your XI take to the turf.

Fantasy Bet, like many weekly Fantasy games, is a form of gambling so you have to be aged over 18 and over to play and, if you do wager some cash, please remember to gamble responsibly.

    Mates, I have a conundrum.

Already transferred hennessey to mccarthy because I have courtois.

should i take a hit and transfer courtois for a 5 or 5.5 so i can have some money in the bank over the next 2-3 gameweeks when i eventually transfer fabregas down to a 7 or 7.5 mid and upgrade rooney to aguero? Or should i just play mccarthy vs arsenal?

Lens I'd skip on. A lot of pace but not convinced yet. Depay decent prospect but overpriced. Wij will be great, I have watched him quite a bit and he is a great technical player. He will pop up with quite a few goals and assist during the season.

the jury is still out for me, last year he played for a top 4 team in his league who averaged 2 goals per game. West Ham on the other hand only scored just over 1 a game and finished 12th, its a bit much to think that he will manage similar returns at West Ham imo

    Planning to save FT.

    Fabianski (Schmeichel)
    Alderweireld Williams Cedric (Koscielny) (Huth)
    Mane Mahrez Hazard Milner (Sinclair)
    Kane Rooney Pelle

    Fielding the correct 11?

Payet would be an excellent purchase, but 7.5 Mid means my only option to draft him in without taking a hit is to drop Hazard. Will rather wait GW2 to see whether downgrading Kane to upgrade Sinclair using 2x FT could accomplish that.

        Alder:
Tottenham at home vs Stoke. I plan on captaining Kane, so would feel silly to bench Alder.

Also, Arsenal GW1 was far from a clean sheet.

I think it's a little too soon to be making decisions on heavy hitters. Some of us had the vision to go without Hazard from the start, those who lack such vision should stick with him for a few more gameweeks and see if both he and Chelsea can pick up their form.

Hey, Wakey! About Silva, note his fluky conversion rate from last season (almost twice his average). Expected goal return with same number of shots was 6. He may be improving, or he may have had an exceptionally good results from his usual last season. A few of his goals looked like ones that he would not usually convert them, too.

Depends on how many people own them to begin with. If a player is owned by 20 people and 10 get rid that's half. If a player is owned by 30,000 and 5,000 get rid that's a smaller percentage

FISO are miles off at this point, they predicted several rises last night, as in 100% more transfers in than required to trigger a price rise.

FFFs algorithm seems more conservative and predicts a couple of players (Mahrez and Gomez) to get over the line tonight.

If I was going to look at anything it would be http://www.fantasyfootballfix.com/price/ but we need a little longer before they can be relied on.

When I was younger i would put teletext 888 on almost all shows, unless they were live.

Nothing wrong with my ears just used to always watch with subtitles

How people learn/take in info... kinetic/aural/reading... a big thing in education. It seems you can read and learn, others need to do (kinetic), others watch and learn... etc. etc.

                    Sorry, it's my job 🙂

Ah okay cool, that is interesting.

I never really thought about it before, just remember when I was younger I'd always turn them on, kind of liked reading. Maybe subconsciously there was another reason I wasn't even aware of

For some reason, they're quite often tailored towards football.

Hurricane regularly becomes 'Harry Kane', and when Carol Kirkwood comes on BBC breakfast, the subtitles often read 'Andy Carroll now with the weather'.

I gambled Rooney would get 4+ more points (cost of the transfer) than aguero in the first 2 weeks, so I have Rooney with 2.5itb to get aguero in after next week. Atm I'm quits (5v1 pts), but after being disappointed with United and impressed by city, I'm wondering whether to make the transfer this week instead.

My question boils down to who will score more points this week, Rooney:avl or Aguero:CHE?
