Southampton’s Jordy Clasie suffers an injury setback. Arsene Wenger welcomes back Hector Bellerin ahead of the Crystal Palace trip. Swansea’s Ki Sung-Yeung is set to return to training following injury, whilst David de Gea remains unavailable for selection for United.

Hector Bellerin is back in the Arsenal squad after missing the opening day loss to West Ham with a muscle injury. Meanwhile, Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky remain sidelined for the Gunners. Arsene Wenger has also confirmed that Alexis Sanchez is ready for the weekend, having worked hard during the week.

Newcastle will have Vurnon Anita available for the Swansea clash, with the midfielder returning to training this week after being stretchered off in the stalemate with Southampton. The weekend, however, will come too soon for Paul Dummett and Remy Cabella who remain out with hamstring and thigh injuries respectively.

Ronald Koeman has confirmed that midfielder Jordy Clasie is out for two to three weeks with an ankle injury sustained whilst playing for the Under 21s in midweek. Fellow summer signing Steven Caulker is also ruled out for the weekend with a sinus infection. Koeman remains hopeful that Ryan Bertrand could return to training in two weeks.

Tim Sherwood has conceded that Jack Grealish, Carles Gil and Jores Okore remain sidelined through injury for Villa’s encounter with United tonight.

Roberto Martinez issued some encouraging news ahead of Everton’s trip to Southampton. Gerard Deulofeu, Mo Besic and Aiden McGeady are all expected to be available after missing the season opener with Watford, whilst Kevin Mirallas was due to return to train yesterday after recovering from the ankle problem that forced him off last Saturday. Leighton Baines is out for 12 to 14 weeks, however, after undergoing ankle surgery.

Watford duo Steven Berghuis and Almen Abdi have returned to training after missing last weekend’s draw with Everton through injury. The pair are expected to be available for the weekend, Quique Sanchez Flores has suggested.

Despite reports of his arrest last week, Slaven Bilic has confirmed that Diafra Sakho has trained normally during the week, and forward is available for selection against the Foxes. Elsewhere, Pedro Obiang has returned to training for the Hammers and is in contention for the weekend.

Spurs have a fully-fit squad for the visit of Stoke, according to Mauricio Pochettino. Hugo Lloris and Danny Rose are in contention for first-team returns, whilst Andros Townsend and Alex Pritchard are also available after recovering from injuries.

Mark Hughes has revealed that Peter Odemwingie is ruled out for two weeks with a hamstring injury. Fellow attacker Bojan is expected to step up his recovery with a run-out for the reserves at the weekend. Hughes is also optimistic that Marko Arnautovic and Marc Wilson will be available for the Spurs trip, after injury setbacks suffered at the start of the season.

Swansea midfielder Ki Sung-yeung is set to train after limping off with a hamstring injury against Chelsea last weekend – Garry Monk is expected to make a late decision on his fitness. Defender Jordi Amat is back and available for selection after recovering from a broken metatarsal suffered at the end of last season.

Louis van Gaal has confirmed that David De Gea remains unavailable for selection, due to ongoing transfer speculation. Marcos Rojo remains short of fitness and won’t be considered for the trip to Villa Park.

    Theo this, Theo that
    Theo's back or Theo's.. 😕

Tinkering this case, I think most stupid thing to do is swap him out tonight after deadline just to avoid price drop.

If he starts / scores there is no need to get rid before gw3.
If he fails, you only lost 0.1, but have seen whole gw except pool match to decide what to do.
And finally if you are not willing to take that 0.1 loss, I think you should remove him before deadline.

I think he'll start against Liverpool, but not against Palace. If you're going to sell, I'd sell now.

The thing is...Walcott is never nailed on. Yet still, injuries aside, he manages good PPG. I don't understand the rush to sell because (to me anyway) it was obvious that he might not start games.

The reason I've kept him is I believe he will score more points than others (up to his value) over the longer term. His injury record for me is the main worry but I'm willing to take that risk.

Still not worth the 9m for a player that's so unreliable, in terms of FPL: Theo owner here but thinking of transferring him out myself.

          • 15 Years
          10 years, 6 months ago

IF he stays injury free. I'm of the opinion that he will outscore or be on a par with other mids around his value. That's why he's in my team. Others will disagree, and that's fine, but if that's the case, I'm not sure why he's in those teams?

Even if he starts he could easily still be dropped for the next game. He has to go very soon imo, only question is whether you think that's now or after the GW starts.

If he scores and they win, I have no doubt he would start next game too.
I also think he needs to go, just thinking it could be postponed until gw4 or something IF things go well this gw.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic there. If not, you think if somebody who already spent his FT on something else, say Courtois, Haz or Falcao, wants to switch Walcott to a player with more guaranteed starting spot, say Sanchez, it would only be wise for him to either lose 0.1 in value or take a -4 hit? Instead of having him potentially on field upfront against a defensively so and so Palace and removing him for free and at full transfer price ahead of the Liverpool clash?

      1. Mr Sarcastic
        • 15 Years
        10 years, 6 months ago

        Obviously talking only potential ft.
Anyone who takes hit just to avoid 0.1 drop is not real top10k contender and one I could see rivaling my rank.

I'm going to do exactly that but only because I thought he'd be more certain of starts last week, particularly with Sanchez out.

£9.0 is that bit too much for a guy who now looks likely to start from the bench every second week imo.

So I've something in FPL that I've not done for at least 2 years at ...sold Hazard
    To Sanchez .

Also gives more options to get Aguero in gw4

    Butland

    Azpi , Bellerin , Gomez

    Lens , Walcott (c) , Sanchez , Mane

    Rooney , Sakho , Tekkers (v)

    Ruddy , Targett , Richie , Huth

My question ,is it complete madness to captain Theo ?

    After GW3, Gradel or Mahrez?

Gradel scored 17 league goals in the Ligue 1 playing for a weaker team than Ayew and Payet. Ayew scored around 12 goals and Payet scored 7.
Only £6.0m | Bournemouth are a very attacking side too.

    Mahrez | bou - AVL - stk - ARS - nor

Could someone clear up why Silva was not awarded the extra 5 points when accredited with the goal from Monday's game against West Brom. I'm pretty sure Suarez was given the extra points when he had a dubious goal given to him back in 2013/14.

He might have got a dubious assist, like Lukaku's arse assists. That has happened numerous times.

Shocking number of people wildcarding, i'd be lying if i said it didn't hurt seeing everyones revamped teams. My only concern is if indeed the likes of payet, ayew, gomis, sanchez, mahrez and the other GW1 bandwagons do flourish then my wildcard come GW4 runs risk of being similar to those who WC'd this week except id still be behind having simply cemented their lead with few decent differentials. In this regard I have a painful weekend ahead hoping the the likes of those listed above have poor GW's and new bandwagons emerge. Im sticking with Walcott although as an Arsenal fan I'm confident Wenger will attempt to prove his system last week wasn't the problem but indeed the performance, so aside from bringing Cazorla into the middle and Bellerin and Sanchez back into the starting XI I predict Giroud to be given the go ahead over Walcott. Not the first time Wenger has been stubborn and it sure won't be his last. I hope I'm wrong and truth be told I'm refraining from doing too much until we've seen a bit more of each team but I do fear that the traditional patient style approach could be costly this year. On that note heres hoping for another low scoring GW

The problem with wildcarding is knowing that you have to pick players that you will bench. I really want to start 3 forwards and 5 midfielders! (Can't do all out attack on a WC)

For all people asking whether to get rid of Walcott, just do it now. You will be asking the same question again and again until you finally get rid, because he just isn't a nailed on selection. Wenger doesn't care about his points per minute potential in FPL!

So unless your secure enough in your belief in him (in which case you wouldn't be asking the question), save yourself the stress!

Shouldn't have picked him full stop if one bench appearance makes you give up the faith. He's spent his whole career on and off the bench / treatment table. He can be worth it, but you need a strong consistency to live with the high risk/high reward on offer.

I didn't realise that Jake Livermore and his partner had lost a child just before his failed drugs test. Hoping the FA have some empathy and sense and show some leniency with the decision, that is an awful thing to have to come to terms with.

Yes, but surely there should be mitigating circumstances to be considered when sentencing? Losing a child is the most dreadful thing imaginable, I think if the only thing you do is take a bit of cocaine then you're dealing with it remarkably well! There are more important things to consider than just "he failed a test - ban for 2 years".

Obviously not a simple case of black & white, each case on it's merits although this may be a very isolated case where a bit of leniency should at the least be considered.
