With mid-price assets continuing to deliver, Sunday’s fare finds three of the genuine title contenders in action, allowing us to assess the form of a series of heavy-hitters.

Arsenal get things underway with their visit to Palace and that’s followed by the titanic clash as Man City host Chelsea at the Etihad.

The Gunners arrive in South London off the back of a shock 2-0 reverse to West Ham. They can, however, take comfort from the fact that they are unbeaten in twelve matches at Selhurst Park but will be wary of a Palace side that boasts an array of weapons at their disposal. Alan Pardew’s Eagles enjoyed an impressive away win at the Norwich on the opening day and will be looking to build on that by improving home performances – they have lost half of their 10 home games under Pardew’s reign. The Gunners, meanwhile, turn up having won five of their last six away trips.

The tea-time encounter is, on paper, a classic. Chelsea go into the match still licking wounds from an opening day roughing-up by an impressive Swansea and will be without Thibaut Courtois as a result of his second-half red card in that 2-2 draw. City’s preparations could not have been better – they strolled to a 3-0 win at West Brom on Monday night and, arguably, were the most impressive side on show in Gameweek 1 with David Silva, in particular, dazzling in midfield.

Mourinho will be wary of City’s confidence and is expected to settle on the back foot in a bid to catch City on the break with pace – he can take confidence from the fact that his side are unbeaten in their last four against Manuel Pellegrini’s side. On the flipside, the Chilean will point to a recent home record which states seven straight wins, delivering six clean sheets.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Thoughts welcome )

    A: Walcott --> Ayew this week, then Kane&Depay -> Aguero&Mahrez (-4) next week.

Ayew has an excellent fixture (sun) and I do want rid of Depay...but the 4 point hit is a bit of a pain.

B: Walcott --> Mahrez, then Kane --> Aguero for free next week

Means going with no Swansea cover for the trip to Sunderland, but i'll catch Mahrez's likely double rise and not have to take a hit for Aguero.

    Thoughts?

  16. Ginkapo FPL
    11 years, 2 months ago

Should always captain Aguero when he plays late in the gameweek. Doesnt matter if he is the best choice, the hope that you can add 40pts to your GW score is worth it alone.

  17. Would an idiot do that?
    11 years, 2 months ago

If Mou parks the bus it's like admitting defeat. Admitting that he doesn't think Chelsea could go toe to toe with City when playing attacking football.

    1. Cilly Bonnolly
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      11 years, 2 months ago

Yeah, Mourinho doesn't care about that. He cares about winning trophies. Which is what he's very, very good at.

      1. Would an idiot do that?
        11 years, 2 months ago

Yeah but the way I see it he's proved he can win ugly. Yet he hasn't proved he can win playing offensively (Real Madrid)

          • Fantasy Football Scout Member
          11 years, 2 months ago

Again, he doesn't care. He just wants to win any way he can.

      Of course thay can't.

I don't think that at all, if you go at Man City it creates a lot of variance, by playing a defensive game it takes some of that away.

What do you think about he following moves potentially this week:

Rooney, mane, sterling & ozil > aguero, ayew, Sanchez & albrighton

Have two free transfers so would be a -8

I knew the risks of keeping Walcott... but as I have a playable bench (albeit it not a great one) I stuck with him.

Targett is my first sub (0pts)

A bloke in my mini league (actually my boss and a bit of a cock) had Walcott and Lukaku (13pts) as his first sub.

    Risk/reward - Risk/punishment... it's a fine line and often a frustrating one folks.
