With mid-price assets continuing to deliver, Sunday’s fare finds three of the genuine title contenders in action, allowing us to assess the form of a series of heavy-hitters.

Arsenal get things underway with their visit to Palace and that’s followed by the titanic clash as Man City host Chelsea at the Etihad.

The Gunners arrive in South London off the back of a shock 2-0 reverse to West Ham. They can, however, take comfort from the fact that they are unbeaten in twelve matches at Selhurst Park but will be wary of a Palace side that boasts an array of weapons at their disposal. Alan Pardew’s Eagles enjoyed an impressive away win at the Norwich on the opening day and will be looking to build on that by improving home performances – they have lost half of their 10 home games under Pardew’s reign. The Gunners, meanwhile, turn up having won five of their last six away trips.

The tea-time encounter is, on paper, a classic. Chelsea go into the match still licking wounds from an opening day roughing-up by an impressive Swansea and will be without Thibaut Courtois as a result of his second-half red card in that 2-2 draw. City’s preparations could not have been better – they strolled to a 3-0 win at West Brom on Monday night and, arguably, were the most impressive side on show in Gameweek 1 with David Silva, in particular, dazzling in midfield.

Mourinho will be wary of City’s confidence and is expected to settle on the back foot in a bid to catch City on the break with pace – he can take confidence from the fact that his side are unbeaten in their last four against Manuel Pellegrini’s side. On the flipside, the Chilean will point to a recent home record which states seven straight wins, delivering six clean sheets.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I know Kolorov played well today but are people transferring him in not worried about rotation? Manuel loves to rotate his full backs

Been burnt too many times to go there again for exactly these reasons.

Can do without the guessing games as to whether someone will play - especially early doors

Not a fan but I think you need a leftback maybe even a rightback to offer competition for Ivan and a CM who can defend good goalscoring winger would be a plus.

    4. Ruth_NZ
      • 11 Years
      10 years, 11 months ago

At the very least we need a LB and a top CM. I have been saying this for 6 months. We have nobody capable of playing alongside Matic in big games. Fabregas is positionally suspect there, so is Ramires. We need someone of Pogba's calibre, allowing Fabregas to play #10.

We could also do with a deadly winger like Bale. Chelsea are too much "stop Eden stop Chelsea".

The crazy thing is with the profits we have been making we could afford to pay £150m for those two and still be comfortably inside FFP even as it was. The lack of movement in the transfer market is concerning as is the reluctance to blood our youngsters - if we aren't going to buy we should be doing that at least.

But there is more than that. Something is not right, the body language is not good (as I said a week ago) and the Eva incident is a signpost of problems behind the scenes. I can understand Jose letting off steam but the way it continued in public was bizarre to be honest.

I think a WC is needed?

    Ruddy Butland
    Ivan Cedric Huth Francis ward
    Haz Ozil sterling Shelvey sinclair
    Roo Benteke sakho

Think I will keep the keepers, ward, Haz and maybe Benteke and Sakho

    Thoughts??

Why? Butland has a good run now..
Cedric Huth Francis and Ward are still good bets(though i never liked Cedric)
      Haz Ozil Shelvey are good
Benteke Sakho could still be gold..
So basically you're 3 heavyweights ie Ivan/Roo/Sterling could be swapped out for Williams/Yaya/Aguero over a week or 2 and you are set

i still like kosc over kompany for the price, haz was the only chelsea player that ever looked like creating something, both rooney and kane have questionable form (especially the former) yet they still are main men on teams with decent fixtures (at least for next week)

Do I like your WC selections more? Yes, but to be honest it feels like it wouldn't be scoring that much higher than the one you already have. Maybe just 1 or 2 transfers are needed. Haz > Ayew and Rooney > Aguero seems like enough.
