Once again, there was a minimal amount of new injuries over the weekend’s matches for Fantasy managers to fret over, with Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino playing down concerns after withdrawing Harry Kane and John Terry respectively. Steve McClaren is a manager with worries, however, with injuries in midfield, while his first choice right-back will miss their Gameweek 3 trip to Old Trafford through suspension.

Chelsea
Jose Mourinho denied John Terry picked up an injury in today’s loss at City after being subbed off at the break. Perhaps tellingly, this was the first time in Terry’s career under Mourinho that he had been replaced mid-match, with the Blues boss explaining:

“No [he was not injured], it was a decision I made. I know that Zouma is the fastest in the squad, and in that moment Manchester City were playing on the counter attack. Zouma is different than John, and my decision was proved right as Zouma was in complete control. I left him out because tactically we needed to make a change, and I was proven right as we controlled the game in the second half.”

Mourinho also stated post-match than Oscar, who missed the Etihad trip, remains a doubt for the Gameweek 3 trip to West Brom…

“Oscar’s injury isn’t a big one but it stops him from playing today and probably next week”

Leicester City
Back-up stopper Mark Schwarzer missed yesterday’s win at West Ham due to illness, the club’s official twitter feed confirmed.

Newcastle
Steve McClaren has concerns in midfield for the trip to United after Moussa Sissoko was withdrawn at the break against Swansea due to a groin problem. The Magpies boss also explained Siem de Jong’s weekend absence:

“We lost a big player in Moussa. We don’t know the seriousness of it yet…We think it (De Jong injury) is just a kick on the shin which flared up. He nearly made it (in time) but unfortunately didn’t (but) it should not be too bad.”

Sissoko has since tweeted on his injury, confirming an adductor problem.

Tottenham
Mauricio Pochettino played down his second-half withdrawal of Harry Kane in yesterday’s draw with Stoke. The Spurs boss confirmed Kane’s problem was no more than cramp, having started training a little late due to his Euro U21 exertions with England:

“Harry was very tired and had some cramps in his calf, so to take the risk with the score at 2-0, I didn’t think it was a problem to take him off. He came later in pre-season and it is normal. He is better but he needs time to arrive. We knew before the end of last season Harry Kane would play a lot and the consequences you can see now. This is the truth, at 2-0, after 65 minutes, I think it was enough for him. We don’t take risks with his body”.

Swansea
Garry Monk remains optimistic that Ki Sung-Yeung will return to action for next week’s trip to Sunderland. The Swans boss refused to take any chances with the South Korean at home to Newcastle, after he was forced off with a hamstring injury away to Chelsea last week:

“It wasn’t really [right] to take the risk with him. Of course he’s pushing to play, but I think we’ll give him that little bit more time. He’ll be back in training next week ready for the Sunderland game.”

Suspensions

Newcastle are set to be without Daryl Janmaat for the trip to United after the right-back received his marching order for picking up two yellow cards away to Swansea. Discussing his upcoming absence, the Dutchman – who was booked on both occasions for incidents involving Jefferson Montero – owned up to his Liberty folly:

“I’m very disappointed. It was stupid of me and I have to apologise to my team-mates, the supporters and everybody, because trying to win a game with ten men is very difficult. The first yellow card was clear. The second one, I lost the ball, he (Montero) ran past me and in a split-second I touched him. I pulled him back and that was stupid.”

West Ham are set to be without Adrian for the next three league matches after the Spaniard’s weekend dismissal at home to Leicester. Dismissed for serious foul play after an incident with Jamie Vardy, the Hammers keeper will miss clashes against Bournemouth, Liverpool and Newcastle before returning to action in Gameweek 6 away to Man City. Darren Randolph (4.5) is set to deputise in his absence.

Who would have thought in an FPL team with Walcott, Hazard, Sakho, Koscielny, Rooney and Pelle...

Kolarov would turn out to be my top scorer.

Sorry for the late reply LR. I'm afraid I can't answer that...I do hope he's a likelier starter but undoubtedly there will be rotation with Clichy.

He's played fantastic the first 2 games and Pellegrini would be daft to bring Zaba and Clichy in at this stage. The current back 4 stays on merit until one of them fecks up.

He's by no means nailed over the season for sure. But if you're looking for the next 5-6 games, I would say he is imo.

Kolarov seems less flaky at the back lately. I think Poch is starting to trust him. And honestly Clichy isn't really very good...

Don't do the WC. You'd need to take at least 4 hits to meet the threshold, IMO. You can go minus 8 and sort much out....even just minus 4 gets you close. Over time, we can assess defense. A lot of us have kos p!us a chelsea defender. So far, bleh, but I'd like to think some returns are inevitable soon. Hard to hold with kompany and kolarov doing so well.

Cheers. -8 could fix the front 8 enough but don't expect much from defence either.
Luckily Aguero didn't rise or else I may have deleted. 😆

Right. I saw Aguero remained flat. It is early, and hits are fine to fix or grab risers / sell fallers. I think hits feel worse than wc, but man, that is a very valuable chip. Hold it if you can.

As an example, I did good this week, but still made two transfers, for a minus 4, to get Silva (other to get gomis who I feel will train a la mahrez).

Oh, and thank you for running last man standing.... Cool.

Yes. That is viable. Mahrez train is not over, and gives you a little flex. I think man city are vital for points AND money now either way.

Yeah, he actually did better last year than I realised. 12 goals and missed quite a few games too. He seems nailed at Stoke and with all the creativity they've added he could be a bit of a steal with the coming fixtures

Thanks fellas. Really appreciate the advice!

My thinking is this. I don't like have a very weak 5th mid. I know they are popular but Shelvey and Mahrez are both cheap, rotate perfectly, and are capable of producing points at a good level. I don't mind having the odd benching dilemma either.

Defence on the other hand. I don't mind having a weak 5th because I'll only ever play 3

Been all round the doors with this WC and I'm back to:

    Kolarov / Darmian / Williams / Micah / Oxford
    Yaya / Alexis / Mahrez / Ayew / Payet
    Aguero / Benteke / Ighalo

Tekkers performance today might tempt me to a downgrade to free up some cash, &/or get Kompany.

    Really appreciate any thoughts. Cheers

Identical front 8 to mine, Gomis instead of Benteke being the exception.

Main thing is Aguero/Sanchez and flexibility and I reckon the latter look's good.

Sorry, just got distracted. Yeah, Kompany has had his goals I'd have thought but he's nailed, particularly when Europe kicks in and I'm far more confident in the City backline to spend that bit extra.

Love to get both though and if people can't afford Kompany then Kolarov's an heroic shout.

WC last evening and brought in players expected to rise. Woke up to a TV of 100.6. Now they need to rise again so I can bank some of the profits.

Anyone else had a good start but still think it's a good time to WC?

I've learned a lot about how teams will setup etc and still feel I'd get really good value out of pushing the button now.

Me. Decent start as had Mahrez from GW1. But really want to get rid of 12 of 15 players, so Wildcarding. Side benefit of early WC is also increase in TV.

        12? That's a big number

I had Mahrez and Payet (captained him this week) and a couple of others that were handy.

I actually saved the FT which is a bit annoying. After I've used my 2FTs there are a further 6 changes I'd make.

Even though that isn't a huge number experience tells me I still probably won't come across a better time to use it

No chance. Sanchez is just desperate to score goals. He is physically pained when he doesn't. Ozil is an artist and content stroking the ball around, which can lead to goals but he will always produce less imo
