We head to the Emirates this evening as Gameweek 3 comes to its conclusion with a head-to-head between two of last season’s top six. Despite scoring just twice so far, Arsenal have offered a significant threat in the final third – although they’ve played only two matches, Arsene Wenger’s side still sit joint-top for shots inside the box, firing 32 close-range attempts.

Liverpool arrive in London in impressive defensive form, though. The Reds have registered back-to-back shut-puts this season and chalked up eight clean sheets away from home in 2014/15 – joint-top with West Brom. With three very favourable home fixtures in the following four, Fantasy managers will be keeping a keen eye on the Merseysiders’ main men at both ends of the pitch.

Given that Arsenal are missing both Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, Christian Benteke owners will be hopeful of another goal for the Belgian, after he opened his account against Bournemouth last Monday evening.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

60% of arsenal attack on the left side, 30% in center and only 10% on the right side. Sanchez/Ozil dominates.

Stupid by Wenger when you consider liverpool had firming and an 18 yr old right footed rb/cb def as right side?

He should have had Walcott or ox out their testing him (ox took him to town with one run down the outside when he came on) but what did he do? He plays Ramsey over there who probably spent maybe 30% of his time on the wing and the rest drifting inside narrowing the pitch and making it easier for Liverpool to defend.

To me Wenger is making the classic mistake of trying to fit all his best players in his first 11 instead of biting the bullet and dropping some of his better players in order to have a better team. Cazorla, Ramsey and Ozil are class players but he has to stop trying to play them all in the same team.

        1. Pasqualinho
          11 years, 2 months ago

I'd go along with that. A wise poster (I think it was Dod) stated it was 80% luck, 20% luck management. And it's hard to argue against that.

Nowhere near 80% luck. Hardly any luck involved in fact.

No it doesn't. That 20% luck management is what these people are good at - that's why they're up top in the HoF.

Hope everyone who wants a 5.5 Arsenal DF is now convinced that Monreal > Bellerin. The BPS modifications favours Monreal, and Monreal already had higher points per minute last season anyway. Stop getting distracted by Bellerin's pace / tendency to get forward!

    1. Acquafresca
      11 years, 2 months ago

      Gibbs

      1. samuelhzb
        11 years, 2 months ago

And? Seriously Monreal's LB position is less threatened by Gibbs than Bellerin is threatened by Debuchy. Ask every Arsenal fan that, and they'll give you the same answer.

    3. U-jin King™

that pace and tendency to get foward gets you goals and assists tho

      1. samuelhzb
        11 years, 2 months ago

It means nothing if it doesn't actually translate into goals and assists. And for Bellerin, it seldom does. Most of Arsenal DF's points last season come from clean sheets, and in those scenarios, Monreal's BPS will always be higher than Bellerin
