Following a Gameweek littered with knocks and niggles, we roll out our usual post-match club-by-club report on the fresh arrivals in the treatment room.

We find Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe with plenty to concern him, whilst Claudio Ranieri plays down the back problem that forced Riyad Mahrez off against the Cherries.

Arsenal
Mesut Ozil missed the Gunners 1-0 win at Newcastle with a minor knee problem. Prior to the match, Arsene Wenger confirmed he expects the German back imminently:

“It’s a slight injury but he is not available to play. He will be out for one week”

Aston Villa
Jack Grealish missed Villa’s home draw with Sunderland after injuring an ankle in training on Friday, while club skipper Gabby Agbonlahor was also ruled out through illness after the club had been hit by a widespread virus.

Post-match, Tim Sherwood brought us this on the Grealish injury….

“Jack twisted his ankle. There was no-one near him. He caught his toe in the turf on Friday. He went over on it. He was sick, gutted. We don’t know how bad it is. We’re hoping it’s just a sprain and the international break might give him an opportunity to be ready for the Leicester game.”

While he also updated us on Agbonlahor’s situation…

“Gabby is not well. He’s had the stomach bug. I think there’s six or seven at the club who have suffered. Gabby was one.”

Adama Traore was also ruled out against the Black Cats having made his debut from the bench at Palace in Gameweek 3. Sherwood was optimistic on his return after the international break…

“Adama is feeling a kick. He got a kick on the back of the calf and obviously rolled his ankle at the same time. The good news is that the ankle is okay. It’s just about the soreness of the kick – and it was too sore for him to take part.”

Bournemouth
The Cherries’ treatment room got a little bit busier this weekend after three of their players sustained weekend injuries. Tyrone Mings lasted just 11 minutes as a sub before being stretchered off, whilst Max Gradel is also a worry for Eddie Howe:

“We need to assess and scan before making a judgement. Tyrone didn’t look good, seeing him in that much pain, it’s not nice to see. Max knew early it was serious. Knee injuries are not good to see. It restricted us tactically. We couldn’t make changes when we needed to to get momentum back.”

Left-back Charlie Daniels was forced off with a knee problem at the break, though is optimistic the problem isn’t serious:

“I had an initial scan and it did not look too bad. Hopefully, it will be nothing long-term but we can’t really tell yet, that was just the first look. Once the swelling has gone down, I will probably have another scan on Tuesday to see how it is.”

The Cherries were also without Joshua King due to a hamstring problem.

Everton
The Toffees are set to be without Tom Cleverley for a period of time after the midfielder was stretchered off in yesterday evening’s goalless draw at Spurs. Post-match, Roberto Martinez admitted the club are uncertain how long Cleverley will be sidelined for:

“The physio is a little bit more positive [than he was at half-time]. I think it is clearly ligament damage – but, straight away, we were fearing it could have been ligament damage and a fracture as well. It shows that Tom is a very, very fit man to be able to get through that collision with a [relatively] minor injury. He will still be out for a while but not as long as we first thought he might be – and we thank the luck that we had there.”

Leicester
Claudio Ranieri confirmed that the Foxes in-form Riyad Mahrez was subbed off at the break after sustaining a back problem during yesterday’s clash with Bournemouth. The Leicester boss eased concerns over a serious injury by revealing:

“We changed Riyad at half-time because he took a kick very early in the game and after that, in the battle, he could not play at full speed. I wanted us to keep pressing forward, so we replaced him as a precaution.”

Southampton
Victor Wanyama – who missed the Saints Europa League exit on Thursday evening with a stomach bug – was again absent for today’s win over Norwich. With rumours of a move to Spurs growing, Ronald Koeman revealed the Kenyan was “not mentally and physically good enough to play” against the Canaries.

Stoke
Mark Hughes has confirmed that Glen Johnson was forced off just after the hour mark against West Brom due to a groin problem.

Swansea
Jefferson Montero missed today’s win over United with a minor thigh problem. After the match, Garry Monk eased fears over the extent of the injury:

“Unfortunately Jeff pulled up in training with a bit of soreness in his quad, but he has had scan and it is nothing clinical.”

Tottenham
Spurs are set to assess Moussa Dembele after the Belgian was stretchered off during the goalless draw with Everton with a foot injury.

The player himself has since posted on Twitter offering reassurance on the scale of the problem.

West Brom
James Chester missed the Baggies 1-0 win at rivals Stoke due to a minor hamstring problem. Callum McManaman also suffered from a similar complaint but was fit enough to make an appearance as a second-half sub.

Poor start to the season. Currently ranked 2.5 million Overall.

    Ruddy Schmeichel
Azpi Williams Targett Morgan R Martin
    Yaya Hazard Payet Mahrez Wanyama
    Benteke Aguero Gomis

    I'm thinking of doing Haz---> Pedro and Payet--->Ayew for a -4?

Azpi to Kolarov. You could go Hazard to Sanchez as a semi gamble, but I personally wouldn't.

Otherwise you have a strong team, it will come good!

    McCarthy (Butland)
    Kompany Williams Darmian (Martin Richards)
    Sanchez(c) Payet Depay Mahrez Redmond
    Kun Gomis (Diouf) 0.7

    Best move with 2 freebies?

    C. both A+B

      Darmian + Diouf --> Kolarov + Wilson

      1. FPLord
        11 years, 1 month ago

Doubling up on City with Palace away is my concern and Diouf has three great fixtures for GW 7-9. Think that there is not much in between Wilson and Diouf...

        1. El-Kloppico
          11 years, 1 month ago

I've got Diouf too, but swapping for wilson..
Wilson has more favorable fixtures and in great form.
Diouf may lose his place to fit-again Bojan

          1. Demel
            11 years, 1 month ago

I very much doubt Diouf will lose his place to Bojan. Bojan was promised a free role behind the striker when he signed and Hughes likes a target man up front.

    2. Demel
      11 years, 1 month ago

I would be tempted to make your team more similar to mine by doing Darmian to Kolorov.

If you want to lose Depay you could do Darmian to Sagna and Depay to Pedro.

2 free transfers and still fighting out what to do...

    McCarthy- Myhill
Darmian- Kolorov- Gomez- Prodl - Francis
Silva - Sanchez- Mahrez- Depay- Westwood
    Gomis - Diouf- Aguero

    No money on the bank

One option is too lose Depay but for who...

Ramsey/Ozil/Cazorla - Doubling up on a currently non scoring team for a lot of money seems risky
    Mane/Tadic - fixtures aren't for me
Coutinhio- Could have been an option but suspended
Sako - Next 2 fixtures are horrible and not certain he is nailed on
Ayew - Tempting but I am not as sure as many on the double up (especially with average fixtures)
    Barkley- Fixtures

Any ideas (and it doesn't necessarily have to involve Depay).

    1. FPLord
      11 years, 1 month ago

as you have a similar team as myself (see above), I share your thoughts. No stand out transfer this week. For me it somehow has to involve Depay...

    2. timski8000
      11 years, 1 month ago

Yes it does, Depay stinks. From what I've seen, he's an overhyped waste of money playing in a team void of any creativity, threat and at times completely uninterested in offering any attacking intent.

There are a raft of cheaper, more productive options around but in that price bracket I'd look at one of the arsenal boys at home to stoke or wait a week and get coutinho for his home games. Hell, even theo and his huge rotation risk will be less annoying than watching Depay lump it into the box from 5 yards inside his own half...

      1. Demel
        11 years, 1 month ago

I do like the Arsenal boys but with a combination of a lot of likely point scorers and fixtures that don't look like providing a lot of goals I am not sure. Waiting a week and bringing Coutinhio in for 2 games is certainly an option.

        1. timski8000
          11 years, 1 month ago

I'm a Stoke fan - we are badly missing N'Zonzi and Shawcross - I don't see anything other than 2-3 goals being conceded af the Emirates but I agree, for one off fixtures it's hard to say who will come up with the goods. If Ozill gets pulled from the internationals and is deemed fit to play against Stoke, that's something which could be a slight advantage?

          1. Demel
            11 years, 1 month ago

It is potentially a good transfer. Or a 1 week punt on Ramsey.

    3. Gianfranco Zola
      11 years, 1 month ago

With all the price drops that have been happening, I'm finding it weird that Rooney and Kane have only gone down 0.1 each so far. Any reason for this? High ownership?

Pulled the trigger last night on benteke and depay to Wilson and pedro to catch the price rises. On paper it looks like a stupid move, hope it pays off!

    1. Mata-Is-The-Juan
      11 years, 1 month ago

Did the same but mine was Depay>Ayew. Should have gotten Mata instead and even if I did, I think I still would have sold any attacking United asset I had. Hopefully we aren't late to the Ayew-party.

  17. Gianfranco Zola
    11 years, 1 month ago

With all the price drops that have been happening, I'm finding it weird that Rooney and Kane have only gone down 0.1 each so far. Any reason for this? High ownership?

    1. Zareos
      11 years, 1 month ago

Even the FPL prices are unnecessarily skewed towards the English players?

    2. Numb

Maybe a lot of auto pick (dead) teams as well

    3. El-Kloppico

it all depends on how many ppl are ditching them and how many have patience! :p

    4. Gianfranco Zola
      11 years, 1 month ago

Must be the dead teams with Rooney and Kane in them. But then Walcott fell 0.5!

Can't believe anyone would still be keeping patience with Rooney

      1. Numb
        11 years, 1 month ago

Walcott was more of an FFS pick - ie very active, and impatient players.

    2. Mata-Is-The-Juan

I reckon he'd still be worth it at 6M. Plays in a fairly attacking team so will continue to have chances. On penalties and seem to have the ever elusive confidence that all strikers in a rich vein of form need.

      What's not to like?

    3. Shifty
      11 years, 1 month ago

Wilson looking like the best forward under 6.0 for what it's worth.

I thought this was the week...casual ML leaders had the armband on Kompany and Yaya Toure.

        1. Sharkytect
          11 years, 1 month ago

Yeah i posted saying this would definitely be the week that Aguero dragged the FFS community out of the gutter. It'll come; casuals will be selling him after two blanks

          1. Jøssy ⭐
            11 years, 1 month ago

Bunch of my opponents have still not drafted him in, and I'm hoping that his couple of blanks is convincing them not to stump up 13M yet! I fear they'll eventually get around to it, but I can see many haven't got a structure to allow it (unless they WC).
