There’s no doubt Eden Hazard has been one of the biggest disappointments during the opening four Gameweeks of the campaign. Last season’s PFA Player of the Year was handed an 11.5 price tag in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) this summer, but with just a single assist so far, has seen his value drop to 11.4, with over 592,000 FPL bosses transferring out the Belgian since the start of the season.

After averaging 6.1 points per appearance in 2014/15, that figure is down to 2.5 points per outing in the early days of the new season. With Chelsea’s star man once again in the top five for transfers out this week, tonight’s members article compares his statistics to the previous one as we look to see why the Belgian is struggling to scale the heights of Chelsea’s title-winning campaign.

Ok, ok! Not being able to give much time because of college, so rank has been poor but atleast better start than last year.

Season..well didn't start as good as last year but now getting there. Had to WC after GW2 but since then TV has become 102.1 and OR 80K. Happy days πŸ™‚

Automobile engineering, MHSSCOE, Mumbai. Only thing I like to do is sleep, so hopefully job place would allow me to do so and no night shift please πŸ˜›
Had a rank of 2.1m last year till GW6, so 778k looks comparatively much better πŸ˜€ TV is 100.2, not good enough. Have gone with "1 from 1 country" rule to make this game interesting, having fun with that...

Defense and GKs are fine. Strikers too, bit different from here but they are absolutely fine. Yaya, Mahrez again fine, maybe Ozil as well.

THings I may want to change are Payet & Montero - West ham got Newcastle so keep Payet. Maybe Montero to Sako. Although it'ss not urgent as Montero should be fit and can easily pop up with an assist against Watford

        Save the FT I feel!

Having digested Ruth's comments and other responses, is there not a very simple response?

Have a members forum and a non members one.

I was always surprised for example that the community articles weren't members only. If you just made them a private forum space for members then we could let all the rmt junkies and "casual cheats" enjoy themselves to high heaven every Friday night on the main pages.

This wouldn't really address the points about price changes, but what you gonna do? Shut the site down to protect poor Theo...

Dump non performing players early in the season, even for occasional hits, as the transfer activity is much higher every year at the start of the season and naturally falls happen too
Its not that hard, i didn't own Walcott but he would have been out GW1 for me after his initial no show, Yaya was .5 cheaper!

Not sure of the comments referred to but even though I detest and have been vocal on rmts, I don't agree with a split. Many non members make huge contributions whilst some members, myself included, offer little other than a sarky remark.
One thing that should be done though is a ban on the word "casual" in the caste-like way it is used on here.

You have to first accept that there is a problem. If Theo is the best example, I'm not convinced this is anything more than an early season price adjustment to reflect the fact that people sell a non-playing (and expensive) midfielder. You don't need advice here to tell you to sell him. Those who weren't caught up in the rush to buy, avoided the problem. If the environment of the game has changed subtly, that's something we all have to deal with and the better players will deal with it better.

As Jesus said, "the poor FPL players will always be with you"

I think the idea that members should be able to freely share members info is probably the biggest argument for a separate forum. It would also be useful in the peak season prior to GW1. I know its something Mark has been mulling over and one day it might happen. Plenty of pro's and con's to weigh up though.

          I like this direction.

But the sad eventuality is that most of the regulars will eventually flock to this section to avoid the RMT madness in the non-members info section.

The ethos of the FFS community will lost.

It's a tricky situation. But I think the main takeaway from Mark and team is that something MUST be done for pre-season next season. I would be very sad, surprised and disappointing if it's not improved as the site's popularity and traffic increases.

It was unbearable outside of the DZ. Even the DZ wasn't spared at times.

I remember we had one particular period Milanista, Acqua, CF and few other regulars camped out on an old post to discuss each others teams. It was nice, but sad at the same time for the site.

Camping out in an old post is not a new trick and understandable when posts are consigned to history before anyone has had chance to read them. I like the insight of the whole community, but I need the peace of the DZ to have a proper exchange of ideas with others.

One of the reasons I wrote my transfer market guide at the start of the season was to provide some information that would in its own little way hopefully cut down the number of people asking questions like: "Player X is now 7.1 but I can only sell him for 7.0, why is that?"

Don't think we should split to have a members and non-members.

One thing that can be done is perhaps every post has a mandatory dropdown box that indicates what kind of post this is. A few categories could include

      1. RMT
      2. Starting 11 selection/Benching order
      3. Captaincy-related
      4. General

Mods can then monitor if any users are abusing the system and well, moderate.

Users of the site can then filter posts according to these categories, much like they do with stickies.

      Just a thought

yea it's open for abusing...but like any online community, there must be alot of sacrifices if the objective is to create a conducive one. If it means discouraging some posters from using the site, so be it.

No point creating a product for everyone if it disillusions the core. There's obviously some unrest amongst the regulars and long time posters...

it kinda is. rookie, no collage football, first proper game last month, now hes in the team.

as a professional sportsman in the biggest league in the world out of any sporting code in many respects with very specialised roles. hes been training like a demon but zero experience in pads against professionals in a real game a few weeks ago. crazy.

For me, Wenger is absolutely right in his transfer dealings. He has an awesome squad of players and there are not many out there who would go to Arsenal and are better than what he has. Apart from upsetting his current squad it is a big gamble when buying anyone.
There maybe a few strikers better than Giroud, a few DMF's than Coq but not many.
For me who has been educated in disliking London clubs, Arsen Wenger is the best all round manager the EPL has ever had (including Fergie)
He may not have the silverware of Man U and Chelsea over recent years but there is a fantastic base for the future with a new stadium, money ITB and a squad that is not far off the best in England.
Patience all Arsenal fans! It has been a long time but you are getting there.

I really don't know about that. For me he has the best midfield in the league. Hi forwards are a little behind but not much. Hi backline and keeper is better than Chelsea ATM.
It is subjective but the gap aint so great. Arsen, buy when you can improve; not for the sake of it.

High praise indeed. My only problem is this striker role for Walcott. it's patently wrong.
Also when he loses his important defenders to injury, as has been the case recently, the whole team looks terrible. They should of spent, but who knows if that was even his decision or not?

        Top manager though.

Point taken. The Wally thing is a talking point but a lot on this site and many were singing his praises moments ago. Real bad luck to lose the Central defenders in one gameweek and there could be a need for another. not so easy to get a top player who does not mind sitting on the bench

Yer the Wally thing. He was throwing his toys out the pram a couple of seasons back when negotiating his contract and him wanting the striker role as I remember. Maybe the problem is Walcott himself.

I'm still suspicious that the squad is skinny and it has surfaced already this season.
They have Champions league soon too.!

You hit the nail on the head when looking at power. It is my only knock on their side. if Giroud don't plat then it adds to it. What I do like is with one playing and one coming on it gives opposition something to think about and more difficult to change their side tactically.

Think I've been reading that site since high schools days well before ESPN took over, meaning almost 15-16 years now. At one time some of the columnists were writing craps. but yeah like you said it's getting back to it's best these days, and I find it reliable.

Why isn't Pedro rising, been 3 weeks, almost every player has gained .2 or .3 in their price in that time ,it feels weird when things like this happens in FPL which doesn't follow the normal trend .

New player price protection I think

    3. Pasqualinho
      • 16 Years
      10 years, 5 months ago

It's the protection period for new players. Often thought to be from 8-10 days, and then the player has an initial ownership figure, and the transfers start counting. So I believe the first 10 days of transfer activity hasn't counted and he's still awaiting his first rise.

    4. Jøssy ⭐
      • 11 Years
      10 years, 5 months ago

It's not the protection period. That's well and truly ceased (28/8). The issue is, the vast majority of his transfers were made before the protection ended. Then, the vast majority of subsequent transfers have been made on Wildcards (and therefore haven't affected the net transfers figure that is used to assess when his value should raise. Essentially, there have not been enough non-WC transfers of Pedro yet, post-protection, to warrant a price rise.

  19. Sandwich Man
    • 15 Years
    10 years, 5 months ago

can anyone tell me how price rises are determined in FPL.

I always thought it was nett transfers in in any given game week but if that is the case how has Ward recieved a price rise with around 49,000 transfers in yet Pedro still hasn't when he has received well over 400,000 in the past 2 game weeks?

    1. Mr Pink
      • 12 Years
      10 years, 5 months ago

New players are "protected" for a period, during which transfers do not affect their price.

    2. Diva
      • 11 Years
      10 years, 5 months ago

This was written at the start of the season, before we knew exactly how the price change mechanism would work this year, but it's mostly turned out as expected: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2015/08/12/fantasy-premier-league-transfer-market-guide/

Two notes to add: Wildcard transfers do appear to count for little or nothing, and there is a suspicion (albeit unproven) that Pedro's price lock on joining the game may not have been removed yet.

      1. Jøssy ⭐
        • 11 Years
        10 years, 5 months ago

I'm not sure the price locking of Pedro is still in place. I believe we're just heavy on WC transfers in recent weeks, so there have been insufficient non-WC transfers, post-protection to warrant a price rise.

I don't know this for a fact, but it's easily plausible, and I can't see FPL keeping the protection on a player so long. It's not as though he didn't get a sufficient base ownership after the first deadline.

Excuse my ignorance, by why can't we just have a separate RMT forum on this site, similar to the members forum. With proper guidelines on how to structure your team and how to rate other teams.

That way any RMTs posted on articles such as this can easily be redirected to a place where people will actually be looking to help and get team ideas.

Of course, I have no idea how to implement this, but it is something similar to what I have seen on other sites

    1. Forza

Then nobody would get their team rated as often as they do on the main article. I rated loads of teams in August but I'd never go to an RMT exclusive article.

I find some of the RMTs useful to be honest, like for when I'm looking for an idea for that cheap forward in a 3-5-2 or to roughly see what people are wildcarding to.

A separate thread worked well at the beginning of last season, and should be a permanent fixture then. I think it's only really relevant to have some sort of separation at season start - the volume tends to go down to manageable levels once a few GWs have been and gone.

Also we then go into the semantics of 'what is a RMT'?

If i post my team and ask for an out of 10 score? Yes
If i post my team and ask for general input? Not sure
If i post my team and then give an a/b/c option list of moves Dont think so.

Its just preseason that its mental but i just ignore. The one downside is that you cant get a decent chat going but things soon slow up a few weeks into the season

With my horrendous start that I'm sure some can sympathise with I now find myself bottom of my main cash ML that I have won 3 years running, over 65 points behind the leader. I'm not worried about my chances of winning it but I'm more concerned with how I will win it, this week GW 5 I don't think aguero is the best captaincy option but to win my ML I have to captain him as top 10 players will, and aguero can get 4goals on his day, this has to be a common problem on here.

I have this problems loads. I know its common thinking, go with the player you think will score most, but when mini league is your sole aim its not that simple.

I am currently on Sanchez but also scared by Aguero and his probable captaining of most in my mini league. Punt when low, safe when high?

if I was 25/50 ish behind I'd go with Sanchez and his underlying stats but 70 pts turns into 100 very quick if your not captaining with the flock and i know if a I do captain with them I chip away at there lead at be top by January but I'm sure this has an adverse effect on my rank

Nice team. About to say Shaqiri a bit expensive for 5th mid but unsure where to spend the cash. Him down and Yaya to Silva? Sticking is fine too, looks good
