It’s time to assess my progress in PlayON this morning as the domestic action finally returns. Armed with an opening pot of £100 for each game, I’ve been tasked with turning that cash into profit and will be updating you on how I’m getting on every Friday.
The return of a Monday night fixture means there are four time frames available at www.PlayON.co this week. In addition to the £100 free entry game, there’s the usual £1,000 Guaranteed pot for £5.50 entry (max 200 entrants), the £500 Guaranteed pot for £20 entry (max 25 entrants) and £250 Guaranteed pots for each of the daily games. PlayON is also launching its Champions League product today, with Guaranteed Pots for daily games on Tues & Wed, as well as a games covering the full Gameweek of 16 matches. You can view all games in the Games Lobby here.
My Team
I’m going to run through a team in which I’ve managed to fit in two big-hitters Sergio Aguero (15m) and Alexis Sanchez (14.2m). For the keeper, I’ve gone for a budget option in Darren Randolph (5.5m) and doubled up on the West Ham backline with Aaron Cresswell (7.3m) – as mentioned in the Weekly Shop article the pair have a good chance of a clean sheet as goal shy Newcastle visit Upton Park. I’ve added two more full-backs that also have attacking instincts with Hector Bellerin (7.7m) facing Stoke and Aleksandar Kolarov (8.5m) travelling to Crystal Palace. To complete the defence, I’ve gone with Ashley Williams (7.6m) as Swansea visit Watford – the centre-back should pick up plenty of clearance and interception points.
Alongside Sanchez I’ve picked another Swansea asset in Andre Ayew (9m), as the midfielder is cheaper than team-mate Bafetimbi Gomis (10.2m). Tottenham’s Nacer Chadli (9.4m) slots in next with a trip to a Sunderland side whose defence have been in disarray – the Belgian will be looking for a second goal of the season and served up an assist in Spurs last away match. Villa’s Scott Sinclair (7.4m) rounds up the midfield after two goals against the Black Cats in Aston Villa’s previous home fixture. Leicester’s home clash with Villa brings Jamie Vardy (8m) into my XI – the Foxes frontman partners Aguero up front as he looks for a third goal of the season.
The Bottom Line
I won one head-to-head in the weekly contests but otherwise had a poor week – heavily backing Liverpool’s defence in several teams in their shock 3-0 defeat to West Ham was the main failure. It shows how one result can undo seemingly well-structured teams and that spreading the risk is an integral part of doing well in daily Fantasy football, particularly in PlayON, where games can be entered multiple times. I’m down to a disappointing £78.34 from £82.66 last week.
This Week’s Stake
Weekly – The team above goes into the weekly £100 free-roll alongside four other teams, the maximum allowed. I’ve then entered the £100 game for £1.10 entry and also the £2.20 double-up game that has a 10-player limit.
Daily – I’ve taken on PlayON Pros, current FPL champion Simon March and OptaJoe in the Saturday head-to-heads for £1.10 each. As a PlayON Pro it’s possible for you to challenge me one-on-one in all four timeframes this week – these games are not included in the £100 challenge and operate separately.
Weekly stake – £5.50
Current Bankroll – £72.84
If you’ve finished tinkering with your Fantasy Premier League team, why not head on over to PlayON to get involved. Line-ups can be chosen and altered up to the first kick-off of each time-frame.
