Palace’s Joel Ward is ruled out for up to four weeks. Arsenal receive a central defensive injury boost, Jefferson Montero is passed fit for Swansea, Mame Biram Diouf misses training ahead of Stoke’s trip to the Emirates and Thibaut Courtois is sidelined for Chelsea with a knee injury.

Arsene Wenger has received a boost following the international break, with Laurent Koscielny fit after a minor back injury and Per Mertesacker also back in full training. Danny Welbeck has suffered a setback, which is expected to see him sidelined until Christmas, while Jack Wilshere is progressing slowly and remains unavailable for the weekend.

Cyrstal Palace have suffered a blow with news that right-back Joel Ward will miss the next 3-4 weeks after sustaining an injury in training. Marouane Chamakh remains sidelined for the Eagles’ clash with City, whilst Connor Wickham will be assessed after sustaining a knock.

Everton will monitor Bryan Oviedo “right up until kick-off” as the Costa Rican attempts to overcome a knee problem. Brendan Galloway has returned to fitness to boost the Toffees defensive options, while Tim Howard and Funes Mori will be assessed having arrived back late from international duty. Tom Cleverley could return from injury after six-to-eight weeks, according to Martinez.

Tony Pulis has confirmed that Saido Berahino is “in contention” to face Southampton at the Hawthorns this weekend.

Thibaut Courtois is set for a period on the sidelines with a knee injury sustained in training for Chelsea. The Belgian could be out for up to ten weeks, according to reports in the local press.

Tim Sherwood has confirmed that Jack Grealish, Idrissa Gana and Adama Traore remain doubtful for the King Power trip, adding that the latter is behind Grealish in his fitness battle. Gabby Agbonlahor has recovered from illness and is available for selection against the Foxes.

Mame Biram Diouf failed to train for Stoke yesterday, and remains doubtful for the Emirates trip with a hamstring injury. Marko Arnautovic (ankle) and Glen Johnson will also be assessed.

Eddie Howe could be without Charlie Daniels for Bournemouth’s trip to Norwich, with the left-back rated as “touch and go” with a knee injury. Harry Arter has returned to training, with Howe optimistic that the midfielder will be available for selection within a month.

Watford have confirmed that new signing Victor Ibarbo is unlikely to feature at the weekend due to visa issues. Fellow signing Oulare’s pitch time is also in question due to a lack of match fitness.

Swans Boss Garry Monk has a fully fit squad to choose from for the trip to Vicarage Road, after revealing that Jefferson Montero has returned to training and is available for the weekend.

Daniel Sturridge has returned to full training for Liverpool, though it’s uncertain whether he’ll be fit to feature in Saturday’s trip to Old Trafford.

Sadio Mane and Cuco Martina have arrived late from international duty, with Ronald Koeman confirming that the pair will return to training today. Koeman has also hinted that Victor Wanyama could start away to West Brom, following the transfer speculation which led to his unavailability prior to the international break. The Saints boss also hopes that Ryan Bertrand will return to normal training from next Monday.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

Dier vs Azpilicueta as a 3rd defender.

Im not sure about United Liverpool. Think its going to be a 1-1

    Which leaves me with:
Naughton, Kolarov, AND??? (Dier vs Azpilicueta vs [Darmian])

Only thing pulling me to Dier is that he is play OOP and is playing against Sunderland

    Meniscus Injury - Thibaut Courtois

A meniscus tear is a knee injury affecting the shock absorbing cartilage between the knee bones. The meniscus is a piece of cartilage in your knee that cushions and stabilises the joint and protects the bones from wear and tear. However, twisting injury can tear the meniscus.
In some cases with meniscal tears, a piece of the shredded cartilage breaks loose and catches in the knee joint, causing it to lock up.

If large chunks of cartilage have been torn off, or the meniscus has split, you may need surgery to remove them. The procedure is fairly simple, and is almost always done arthroscopically. This is a form of keyhole surgery, where an arthroscope - a small, flexible tube with a camera on the end - is inserted into your knee. Through this instrument the surgeon can see the extent of the damage, remove any broken pieces of cartilage, and trim frayed areas of the meniscus. Normally you can go home on the same day. You may need a splint or brace afterwards.

    Average recovery time 2-3 months

I had a bucket handle Meniscus tear and it was 6 weeks on crutches and then a good few weeks of physio until I could run again - it also really effected flexibility of my knee so may hamper a goalkeeper for a longer period. That being said, I did not have the Chelsea Med team helping my recovery (although was using a physio which Arsenal send their players to for long term injuries!)

I can't see it as good news for Rondon to be honest. WBA don't score that many goals and if Berahino is getting a good share, surely Rondo's share decreases?

We mustn't forget that Begovic is an excellent keeper, one of the best in the league. It's not like they've got Richard Wright stepping in for Courtois, I don't think he's exactly a weak link.

I am really torn between WC and not to WC. I usually keep my WC until everyone else has used theirs and use it when its a DGW... take few hits and just climb the ladder if I'm struggling but I am in the bottom 5 for the first time in my mini league.

Haz to Sanchez (-4) and keep on trucking or just WC?

Would 4-4-2 with Ings and Benteke work against Man Utd, or will it allow Utd to take complete control of midfield?

They'll most definitely play 1 striker. (that being Benteke)

Little birdy told me that they were trying out 4-4-2 in training. Perhaps BR is trying to psyche out LVG 🙂

It's 4-4-2 on paper.. Ings will probably drift wide a lot hence making it their usual formation. With Can and Lucas in their midfield they'll probably hold United(and bore the rest of us)

              1. The Bench Boost and Triple Captain chips are worth more and so it makes more sense to use them during the two DGW.

              2. AOA will lose you points (even in a DGW) if your defenders outscore your 8 forwards, Bench Boost and Triple Captain can only gain you points.

The list goes on, but that should be enough to convince you.

    6. Jose's Magic Omelette
      • 12 Years

Wait until you hear from José if he's definitely out.

If he's out I think you may as well take the -4 and get in a keeper you think is good for a CS. More to gain than to lose.

    7. Doolittle
      • 13 Years
      10 years, 5 months ago

Don't see it as a -8, the -4 you have taken already is irrelevant - that will still exist regardless of whether you take the 2nd hit. As you have 2 non-playing keepers, the likely worst case scenario is that Begovic will get 2 points. That would mean you've lost 2 points - hardly a disaster.

If you don't take the hit, what next week? You'll still have 2 non-playing keepers, will you just be taking a hit for this same transfer next week? Then you'll have lost 2 points at best.

I see no reason not to take the hit. Even if Begovic keeps no clean sheets, you'll have made up the points after next week.

It depends on the rest of your team, and whether or not Aguero starts scoring like Suarez did a couple of seasons ago. If this happens and his price rockets, you will be lagging way behind.

General opinion is that he will, but with Sterling et al also scoring freely, I don't think it is a foregone conclusion.

Put it this way, if you are destroying your team just to get him in, don't do it. But if he fits well into your team, go for it.
