League leaders Man City have plenty to fret over this weekend, with Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Raheem Sterling all doubtful for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Juventus. There’s worries in the red half of Manchester, too, after Wayne Rooney missed the 3-1 win over Liverpool with a hamstring complaint. Here’s our regular round-up of all the fresh arrivals onto the treatment table…

Crystal Palace

Damien Delaney is carrying a knock so was replaced by Brede Hangeland in the starting lineup against Manchester City, while Jason Puncheon was withdrawn at the 83-minute mark with a knock following a foul by Eliaquim Mangala.

Everton

Seamus Coleman and Muhamed Besic both sustained suspected hamstring injuries during Everton’s 3-1 win over Chelsea. Post-match, Roberto Martinez went on to say:

“We’ll have to assess Seamus and Mo and see how they are. But the important thing was that everyone who had to be alert and come on to the pitch was fully focused and I think the strength in the squad is starting to show now. Having those numbers helps you be consistent over the course of the season and clearly it showed today.”

Manchester City

Sergio Aguero was forced off at the 25-minute mark during Manchester City’s trip to Crystal Palace, having taken a strong blow to the knee from a crude challenge from Palace’s Scott Dann. Sky Blues boss Manuel Pellegrini implied that the Argentina international will be touch-and-go for their midweek Champions League tie against Juventus:

“It was an important kick on his knee. We’ll see if he can recover between now and Tuesday. It’s very difficult to say now. It’s important to see how he recovers. We’ll see.”

Aguero, meanwhile, took to Twitter last night to play down the seriousness of his withdrawal:

“Thanks everyone for your concern. I got a hard hit and it prevented me from playing more. It doesn’t seem to be a serious injury though.”

Earlier this evening, he gave another update on his condition:

“I had studies done today, to be completed tomorrow. We’ll have a clearer picture then”.

David Silva was ruled out of the Eagles clash by virtue of an ankle complaint, but Pellegrini is optimstic he’ll recover in time to face Juventus on Tuesday:

“Silva is out as I think it would be a risk for him to take another knock on his ankle. I hope he will be OK for Juventus.”

As for Raheem Sterling, the former Liverpool starlet is expected to shake of a minor hamstring injury:

“Raheem has a problem with his hamstring so I think it was a risk for him to play today. I hope he is 100% fit for Tuesday.”

Manchester United

Wayne Rooney was sidelined for the Red Devils’ 3-1 victory over Liverpool after suffering a hamstring problem in training. He is expected to miss their midweek tie against PSV Eindhoven, but Louis van Gaal believes he could be passed fit for their trip to Southampton next weekend:

“He is injured so we have to take care of him. I think he is very important for us and I don’t to take any risks so that’s why he doesn’t play today. I don’t think he will play against PSV Eindhoven, but maybe he shall play at Southampton. We have to wait and see if he can play against PSV because we still have three days to go.”

Stoke City

Jonathan Walters was not included in the Potters’ matchday squad at Arsenal due to a flare-up of his knee injury. Mark Hughes admitted that the Ireland international will undergo a scan in the coming days.

Tottenham

Nabil Bentaleb missed out against the Black Cats with an ankle injury and is expected to be ruled out for three to four weeks having suffered ligament damage.

Ryan Mason was involved in a heavy collision with Sunderland keeper Costel Pantilimon while he scored the winning goal. Mauricio Pochettino revealed after the match that Mason will undergo checks on Monday:

“We will assess Mason tomorrow. It was a big knock on the knee. It was a great goal and we showed how we try to play.”

West Bromwich Albion

Jonny Evans was taken off after 85 minutes against Southampton, although Tony Pulis later said that the new arrival likely just suffered cramping.

I'm on this currently as Fonte seems more likely to complete the 90 mins; therefore, BAPS.
Just seeing if the downgrade is worth Bellerin.

Yup, two great BAPs magnet you'd have there. It's close with Bellerin tough, turning into a magnet as well with great attacking threat, but Williams defensive fixtures win it for me tbh.

No, but it looked in the first three weeks that Liverpool had tightened up defensively and if that carried on then a 4.5m route into that back line would have been good value, even if he missed the odd game. Now they have conceded six in the last two it doesn't look so hot.

Thank Veraswami and Balders. I am surprised to find a Sherwood defender in my team, I guess he got there as a result of only one goal conceded in the first two games. I thought adding Lescott would help them, but they seem to be reverting to Sherwood form...

Liverpool's defensive & attacking fixtures are on the up, I see more threat in Gomez now that Benteke is showing signs of life, and that Hendo & Couts are back. I wouldn't say Richards has a better chance of attacking returns though, considering who he's supplying to & the offensive fixtures ahead. Even if I was to say Richards makes more marauding runs down the flanks, the ceiling is higher for Pool imo when taking into account both the difficulty and likelihood of a CS of a, and the odd assist or goal.

Gomez (NOR, AVL, eve, tot, SOU, che)
Richards (WBA, liv, STK, che, SWA, tot)

2 free transfers what to do...

    Butland (Ruddy)
    Kolarov, Cedric, Gomez, Huth, O'Shea
    Mahrez, Hazard, Ozil, Hoolahan, Yaya
    Aguero, Wilson, Benteke

£0.5m and probably getting rid of Ozil this week for Shaqiri or Barkley, possibly Ruddy too since i'll never ever want to play him and DDG & Begovic have tasty pricetags

I quite like your midfield and forward lines. It seems to be arguing for Ozil to go after he provided an assist or for Hazard to go when Chelsea's fixture improve a bit after the Arsenal game, but they do look the weakest links up there at the minute. I might be more inclined to improve one of your defenders.

Morning all. Cant complain with 40 odd point week i guess. Just feeling a bit 'meh' about this team-

    Butland/ McCarthy
    Kolorov/Williams/ Richards/ Targett/ Gomez
    Pedro/ Westwood/ Sanchez/ Maherez/ Yaya
    Gomis/ Aguero/ Wilson

    1FT 2.9M ITB

    My plan was-

    This week-
Gomis to Benteke (yes seems odd but i really still feel that Gomis is not that good (take his points, price rises and cash in) and in my mini league most still own Benteke and mini league is priority.

    Next week-
Maybe Yaya to Silva or KDB.

Any thing else inspiring you can think of? Please feel free to pick plans apart, they haven't worked great so far this year.

Defence may need work soon with Gomez and Targett there. It might be a good time to get a Pulis defender in.

Front 8 looks solid, I can understand the Benteke move.

I agree with Innsie and would add that Yaya to Silva looks too sideways unless you really have nothing else to change.

Even then with KDB Stering and now Bony in the mi, I fear an Arsenal situation that none are worth the cash because they get crowded out and points get shared.

Silva will still return but not 10m worth.

Solid play there Sab, Benteke is a great captaincy option as well in case you need that these next two GW's. I'd look at keeping Yaya long term tbh, certainly a good option still. Can't see any fault in him imo. Like Ins said, Targett's the one real weakness here.

Right I'm fed up with Pantilimon in goal when I've got a dead Hennessey on the bench. Who's the best replacement for him between the sticks?
    Probably max 5.1ish....

    A) Cech
    B) Begovic
    C) Myhill
    D) Howard
    E) Someone else (I've pretty much selected 4 random good keepers)

So Coates out will certainly be one of my two FTs this week, since he has lost his place. Which 4.5 defender should I replace him with? It might be worth noting that whoever I bring in I will play over Azpi (ARS):

    A) Francis (SUN
    B) Nyom/Prodl/Cathcart (new)
    C) Richards (WBA)
    D) Muniesa (LEI)
    E) Other

    Thoughts? Cheers

40 - I was saved by Mahrez and Kolarov, otherwise I'd have been looking at another terrible score (funny how 40 is relief in the current climate). I have no stake in the game tomorrow though so 40 might not look so hot then. It'll probably leave me bumbling around the 1.4-1.8m range for the fourth week in a row.

Mahrez and Kolarov were my only players who got a clean sheet/assists. I'm stuck in that OR range as well, I'm just praying for any more than 2 points tomorrow 🙂

Pretty amazing to me that anyone can finish top scoring for a given gameweek and not be either on triple captain or bench boost. Defies the odds so much if someone who doesn't use those chips comes out on top.

I can't see a Watford cleanie, but watch the Newcastle game tomorrow and see how they look. A Saints cleanie wouldn't surprise me too much, they've got 3 in a row and United have been struggling for goals (before this week!).

Yup, I watched the first half vs Liverpool then didn't bother to watch the second 😆 (obviously a mistake) but they looked uninspired the first half. Certainly will watch how Newcastle look vs WHM.

The scoreline may not reflect it, but that was one of the best games of tennis I've ever seen. Every point felt like a championship point.

If only both guys could win. I feel lucky to be living in an era of such phenomenal tennis.

I've often thought about doing this, but never tried. There must be away as some of the price change sites pick it up pretty quickly. If it requires more than an Excel macro I'll probably be stumped.
