Saturday’s tea-time kick-off finds a floundering Newcastle United outfit playing host to Chelsea at St James’ Park. The Magpies are yet to taste victory this term and will have their work cut out against a resurgent Blues side that bested Arsenal last time out.

The Toon’s most glaring deficiency this season has been a paucity of goal threat: the Tynesiders rank bottom of the pile for goals (three), attempts (50), shot on target (14) and big chances (three). Allied to this, only three teams have conceded more goals (nine) than Steve McClaren’s troops. On a more positive note, Newcastle will be clinging to memories of their hard-fought 0-0 draw away to Manchester United in Gameweek 3 as inspiration.

Chelsea are certainly not back to their best, but they showed real signs of improvement against the Gunners: only three sides conceded fewer shots inside the box (four) than the London club last Gameweek. Nonetheless, the Blues place joint-top – alongside Sunderland – for goals conceded in road matches (eight), underlining their struggles away from Stamford Bridge.

Robbed of Diego Costa through suspension, Jose Mourinho’s men will be charged up and seeking back-to-back wins as they bid to make up ground and fix their faltering title tilt.

So Martial (c) matched Hazard (c). I'd take that at a good 3 mil less

    taking a hit, Yaya to:
    A. Sanchez (fixture not particularly attractive but in a settled team)
    B. KDB (better fixture but team looks falling apart recently and with many injuries)
    C. hold

    Any view?

Unlikely. From a guy who has torn ligaments in his knees multiple times, it is not good that he completely buckled untouched when he tried to come back onto the pitch. His knee could be pretty messed up. Still, no one knows for sure until an MRI is done. Clearly, the doctor didn't know by his exam, otherwise he would not have sent Wilson back onto the field to try it again. I've not seen that before.

    a) Muniesa to Jevans/Dier
    b) Gomis to Ighalo

Defence also has Targett and Huth, but I can field 3 defenders next week as things stand

56 minus four. I'll take it, but I did do a late switch from capt Sanchez to capt martial, and that cost me 15 points. Still, I am hoping this will be a net positive after Monday night. Not sure...

City missing their spine. A different proposition when Hart, Kompany and Silva are playing. It's still theirs to lose, best team in the division.
