Romelu Lukaku bags a brace and assist as Everton come from behind to clinch victory at the Hawthorns. Saido Berahino and Craig Dawson both find the net for West Brom, whilst James Morrison continues to impress in the budget midfield bracket.

Lukaku Sparks Toffees Fightback

Everton staged a stunning comeback at The Hawthorns, recovering from a two-goal deficit to emerge as 3-2 victors over West Bromwich Albion. Romelu Lukaku was the visitors’ hero on the night, scoring twice and setting up Arouna Kone for the equaliser. The Belgian frontman ended a four-match run of blanks to take his tally to four goals and two assists for the season, having notched a double against Southampton in Gameweek 2. Priced at 8.2, Lukaku – who sits just one point off the top of the forward standings thanks to his 16-point haul – suffers from an unforgiving run of fixtures (LIV, MUN, ars) over the next three which may deter investors.

Kone only entered the fray as a second-half substitute, with Gerard Deulofeu preferred at the right-wing berth. In his first start of the season, the former Barcelona recruit claimed a pair of assists, while only three midfielders chalked up more key passes (four) this Gameweek. As ever, the risk of rotation on the Toffees’ flanks limits the appeal of their attacking contingent beyond Lukaku and Ross Barkley, though at 6.2, Deulofeu would force his way onto many a radar if he can retain a role in Roberto Martinez’ first XI.

Everton are unbeaten across their quartet of road ties, having posted clean sheets in their previous three away clashes. Upcoming trips to Arsenal and West Ham put that record under threat, though. Nonetheless, Manchester City are the only team to best Roberto Martinez’s troops this campaign, which bodes well for their Fantasy prospects from Gameweek 11 (SUN, whu, AVL, bou, CRY, nor, LEI, new, STO).

Berahino in the Goals Again

Saido Berahino netted his second strike in as many starts as the Baggies relinquished a two-goal advantage. The 6.2-priced forward serves as an intriguing differential for those Fantasy managers who are scouring the market for a Callum Wilson replacement, with the West Midlanders enjoying an excellent run of fixtures (cry, SUN, nor, LEI) over the next month.

Craig Dawson’s 2% ownership were delighted to witness their man head home his first goal of the campaign from a corner. The Rochdale-born defender has been a mainstay in West Brom’s rearguard this season, rendering him the safest route into a defence that’s kept more clean sheets (14) than any Premier League side this calendar year. There are concerns at the back for Tony Pulis, considering that Jonas Olsson – the stand-in for Gareth McAuley (calf injury) – lasted just 28 minutes after sustaining a groin problem. McAuley’s absence was clearly a big loss for the Baggies, given they had chalked up four shut-outs in the previous five.

Chris Brunt and James Morrison earned assists for their efforts, with the latter boosting his output (two goals and assists) beyond last season’s haul (two goals and one assist). Only eight midfielders have amassed more shots on target than Morrison (seven), while his 11 key passes are not to be sniffed at. Furthermore, Wes Hoolahan (36) is the only counterpart around his price point (4.9) to tally more points (30) through the first seven Gameweeks, underlining his potential as a budget fifth midfielder.

That looks good - I'm not keen on Martial but it's a good looking team overall. Also - taking out Pedro could be devastating against Villa. I'm heavily regretting taking out Hazard but it's too late now.

Sorry to be on a downer, but I'm on a pretty low ebb after another rubbish GW.

    Team as it stands;

    Butland

    Dawson Kol Williams

    Pedro Mahrez KDB Payet

    Kun Vardy Gomis

    // McCarthy / Gomez / Richards / Surman

Already made transfer getting rid of Wilson for Vardy. Would a -4 be useful anywhere else?

Save - no need to cur your rubbish gw total down a further 4. I managed only 32 ;( and have decided to wildcard out of desparation.

Team - looks great. I wonder if KDB is now a 90 minute man or still a rotation possibility. If not he could be gold.

Get Gomis out eventually. His form is ebbing. Better off with someone like Lukaku / Pelle / Kane.

    Kolarov - Dawson - Davies - (Cedric - Targett)
Payet - Mahrez - Sanchez - De Bruyne - (Gosling)
    Aguero - Martial - Vardy

I'll ask one as well in case no one else covers this

Was Gameweek 7 a vindication of underlying stats? Does this mean that we can now put greater faith in such stats such as shots in the box and goal attempts.

Sanchez was riding high in my goals imminent table in the Members area going into Gwk 7 and proved the stats right.

Lukaku was in the top ten of shots in the box from gwk 1-6...yet went under the radar by many. His brace also proved the stats right.

Lukaku was in the top ten of shots in the box and that proves the stats right? what about the other 9 guys? did they have success? you cant just use Lukaku to vindicate underlying stats when there might be significantly more underlying stats kings who blank week in week out.

Also, is Aguero the wisest choice if we are to captain a City player? KDB, Kolarov, Toure et al have all shown form so far this season; are we captaining Aguero simply out of habit?

When picking a defender, what influences your decision most?

        1. Clean Sheet potential.
        2. Attacking threat.
        3. BAPS potential
        4. Other (e.g. card magnetry, cheapest route into defence, non-rotation risk or nice hair)

In each of the 3 occasions that West Brom have conceded this season. they've let in 3 goals (those teams were City, Chelsea & Everton). What happens to their normally tight defence against some of the top teams? Or is it that these teams with good attacks are the most likely to breach them, and once the first goal goes in their heads go down?

Also, should we expect business as usual in the next 4 fixtures, perhaps even with 4 more CSs?

Is it time to sell our West Brom defenders?

With West Brom conceding several goals to Everton, injuries to McAuley and Olsen and United, Palace and Arsenal to face in the next six is the Baggies backline still worth investment?

Is there too much of a fixation on a playable fifth midfielder? Given the large number of defensive options at the 5 to 5.5 mark should we perhaps be looking at our first bench player being a defender? I always bury Westwood last on my bench and I've had some nice points as a result. This also the advantage that it stops me from the agonies of working out who in the front 8 to bench each week.

With the injury to Wilson and the potential returns to form for the likes of Sturridge and Kane, do we need to give some thoughts to rebalancing our teams away from the current typical budget for a front 3 (Aguero - 6.5-8m - 5-6m).

Something has to give (either in the midfield or Aguero) if those players become essential- which they have the potential for on the basis of performance in the not so distant past.

He's started the last 4 Premier League games and his stats are right up there with Sanchez (see http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/7899/)

        For example:

        Triple Captain - 30+

        Bench Boost: 15+

Did you all own Alexis Sanchez this game-week, and did any of you captain him?

Less than 7½% of the current top 10k own Sanchez, but our FFS league leader Jason Smith owned and captained him and has moved up to 56th overall.

Our Hall of Fame leader Ville Ronka also owns him and is now up to 265k.

And all of the top 13 in my Top 10k Any Season mini-league also own him, but only 2 of them are in the current top 10k.

Thoughts on the current goalkeeper situation?

Seems there are no standout options at the minute. Myhill looked the obvious pick, but West Brom came unstuck at the weekend and they have a few injuries at the back. Plus, Foster might be returning soon and they have some awful fixtures coming up in a months time.

Where you have more comfort from possible BAPS or attacking returns with defenders, you are relying solely on clean sheets for your keeper. It doesn't look like there are any who can assure you of clean sheets.

You also get Saves and BAPS from goalkeepers.

Not that minimal and rare this season. The following have already achieved double figures from them:

Myhill 5 save points & 6 bonus points
              Howard 7 & 4
              Gomes 5 & 5
              Cech 6 & 3
              Butland 9 & 2

I basically realize that in having Hazard (with say Cabaye) my opponents are countering me with Mata plus Payet. I'm going to lose that battle in the long run unless I captain Hazard...and then they will be captaining Aguero. I think I'm on the wrong side of this equation but I am hesitant to drop Hazz ahead of these coming fixtures.

Not a question. Just me stating my awkward state of affairs. Carry on, friends.

You know that heart-wrenching feeling when you meet someone in real life equally as obsessed with FPL as you, but they disappear and you may never see them again? That's what im going through now.

I thought I'd made a real life fantasy football friend, but I don't have his contact details. I'd like you to help me find him again.

This is less of a question for the podcast, but more of a 'Spotted' style appeal (you know, those 'Spotted' pages where people post to identify someone they saw on public transport and developed a crush on, like so: https://www.facebook.com/SpottedOnLondonUnderground).

So here is my 'Spotted' appeal for a fantasy football crush:

I had a group training day at work and was paired up with a guy called Nick, a casino-worker from Reading, black guy, 22 or 23, slight of build with cornrows. We caught the train back to London together and talked about football. I broached the topic of fantasy football and he was indeed an FPL player it turned out! And then, carefully and deliberately probing so as not to shamelessly give away my wild obsession with the game, I asked questions about his team and how he serious he is about the game, to discern whether I was talking to mere casual or a real fantasy football nut. As it happens, he is a very serious player, agonising over his weekly transfer(s) and captaincy choices just like you and I.

I couldn't believe it: I'd found a real life fantasy football pal (which is a first for me because, to be honest, the only people in my life who understand my tales of FPL woe and jubilation are you guys, the community)!

Sitting together on the train, our FPL bonding session was in full flow. We were exchanging our teams and thoughts about the upcoming GW, our annoyance at the casuals in our mini leagues who flukily predicted Mahrez's rise to heavy-hitting status and so forth.

But then came the galling turn of fate. I assumed he'd be riding the train with me to London, but at some little-known provincial town, he jumped up and had to change to get to Reading. I had yet to ask him for his phone number or his surname to find him on Facebook. We exchanged parting pleasantries but I knew there'd be little chance of us meeting again.

I was also intending on asking him if he was a poster on this site, but I left it too late. Maybe we'd already met before this fateful day on this forum, given advice transfer advice to each other, shared live action fantasy pains at the line-ups announcements, but not known due to the anonymous nature of the site.

Please spread the word, and if anyone may know the Nick described above, please let me know. Fate turned on me cruelly that day to, perhaps, thwart me of a real life FPL buddy. Maybe with your help, I can get back into contact with him.

If you could transmit my appeal with a mention in tonight's episode (my fantasy football love once lost may be tuning in himself), or by hulking up this post, then I would greatly appreciate that.

A certain captain saved my GW. Have the luxury of 2 FT this week. Opinions would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

      ................................ Begovic - McCarthy ................................

      ......... Kolorov - Cresswell - Dawson - Francis - Prodl .........

      ......... Sanchez - Yaya - Ayew - Mahrez - Westwood .........

      ............................ Aguero - Gomis - Wilson ...........................

Wilson + Ayew ---> Bojan + Payet? (Can afford Vardy also)
Have enough to upgrade Yaya to KDB

Ayew, Yaya, Gomis and Wilson stand out as the players to look at replacing. Thoughts?

      Appreciate some help here lads.

      Begovic
      Skrtel Kolarov Naughton
      Ayew Coutinho Touré Mahrez Sánchez
      Agüero Vardy

Subs: Rudd Dawson Coloccini Fodder (0.7 banked, 1 FT)

      A) Yaya > Payet (frees up enough to get Pelle/Lukaku in for Vardy in future)
      B) Ayew > Payet
      C) Skrtel > Nyom/Prodl
      D) Save

Very poor gameweek. Every one of my players got either 1 or 2 points besides Eriksen (4), Dawson (7) and Mata (42). Just shipped Benteke for Vardy but still have Gomis in my team..fml.

£3.8m in the bank and if Gomis has another poor performance v Spurs will transfer him next. Any suggestions beside Sturridge? Considering I wouldn't have enough for Aguero.

      Off topic.

Top tip for any young uns thinking of training to be a plumber.

Never ever tell family, friends, colleagues or friends of friends that you are a plumber, or else you will spend the next fifty years being asked every single week to stick your head down somebody's bog free of charge as a "big favour".....pffft.

      Fed up of it.

          No it doesn't.

Folk start putting their heating on at this time of year and panic when it doesn't work....

          "I know I'll ring Wakey"....

Genuine top tip....Turn your heating on every two or three weeks in summer even if it's 80 degrees outside....just for twenty mins or so....Y
