Romelu Lukaku bags a brace and assist as Everton come from behind to clinch victory at the Hawthorns. Saido Berahino and Craig Dawson both find the net for West Brom, whilst James Morrison continues to impress in the budget midfield bracket.

Lukaku Sparks Toffees Fightback

Everton staged a stunning comeback at The Hawthorns, recovering from a two-goal deficit to emerge as 3-2 victors over West Bromwich Albion. Romelu Lukaku was the visitors’ hero on the night, scoring twice and setting up Arouna Kone for the equaliser. The Belgian frontman ended a four-match run of blanks to take his tally to four goals and two assists for the season, having notched a double against Southampton in Gameweek 2. Priced at 8.2, Lukaku – who sits just one point off the top of the forward standings thanks to his 16-point haul – suffers from an unforgiving run of fixtures (LIV, MUN, ars) over the next three which may deter investors.

Kone only entered the fray as a second-half substitute, with Gerard Deulofeu preferred at the right-wing berth. In his first start of the season, the former Barcelona recruit claimed a pair of assists, while only three midfielders chalked up more key passes (four) this Gameweek. As ever, the risk of rotation on the Toffees’ flanks limits the appeal of their attacking contingent beyond Lukaku and Ross Barkley, though at 6.2, Deulofeu would force his way onto many a radar if he can retain a role in Roberto Martinez’ first XI.

Everton are unbeaten across their quartet of road ties, having posted clean sheets in their previous three away clashes. Upcoming trips to Arsenal and West Ham put that record under threat, though. Nonetheless, Manchester City are the only team to best Roberto Martinez’s troops this campaign, which bodes well for their Fantasy prospects from Gameweek 11 (SUN, whu, AVL, bou, CRY, nor, LEI, new, STO).

Berahino in the Goals Again

Saido Berahino netted his second strike in as many starts as the Baggies relinquished a two-goal advantage. The 6.2-priced forward serves as an intriguing differential for those Fantasy managers who are scouring the market for a Callum Wilson replacement, with the West Midlanders enjoying an excellent run of fixtures (cry, SUN, nor, LEI) over the next month.

Craig Dawson’s 2% ownership were delighted to witness their man head home his first goal of the campaign from a corner. The Rochdale-born defender has been a mainstay in West Brom’s rearguard this season, rendering him the safest route into a defence that’s kept more clean sheets (14) than any Premier League side this calendar year. There are concerns at the back for Tony Pulis, considering that Jonas Olsson – the stand-in for Gareth McAuley (calf injury) – lasted just 28 minutes after sustaining a groin problem. McAuley’s absence was clearly a big loss for the Baggies, given they had chalked up four shut-outs in the previous five.

Chris Brunt and James Morrison earned assists for their efforts, with the latter boosting his output (two goals and assists) beyond last season’s haul (two goals and one assist). Only eight midfielders have amassed more shots on target than Morrison (seven), while his 11 key passes are not to be sniffed at. Furthermore, Wes Hoolahan (36) is the only counterpart around his price point (4.9) to tally more points (30) through the first seven Gameweeks, underlining his potential as a budget fifth midfielder.

I know this is a very controversial topic but...

    Walcott: Once bitten, twice shy?

He's started the last 4 Premier League games and his stats are right up there with Sanchez (see http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/7899/)

I'm slowing coming round to the idea of getting him in as my team is 3-5-2, so I'll have a decent sub to come on in case he doesn't start.

    What do you all think?

No Aguero surely gives nice roster flex. Strong five mids, and four strong defenders plus an under valued Francis there...Cashing in on Mahrez, I see, too. Monreal over Fonte, too. Interesting, thanks for sharing.

I think it will even out over the season, it all depends which player they are up against. Bellerin vs Montero for example would keep him pinned back a lot.

Interesting you have Tadic. I was planning to get one of Mane/Tadic after Chelsea. But Chelsea's defence looked weak right now. Tadic will play against Ivanovic as well. However, he is always the scapegoat when things don't go well for Southampton. His playing time is definitely my concern.

Any reasons you choose Tadic over Mane?

I agree, but he also played Giroud against Dinamo Zagreb, which was just utter madness imo.

Wenger's PC he did state that the Utd game has no influence over his selection for tonight, as there are 5 days between the games.

Brilliant player. 12 goals in 13 starts. That elite level of stats right there.

21 goals and 14 assists when he stayed injury free for a full season

and a mid at just 8.5m

i'm tempted and i say that as someone who picked him at the tail end of last season and from week 1 this season and regrets both purchases

Those 21 goals and 14 assists in 2012-13 included matches in the Capital One Cup, FA Cup and the Champions League.

And 12 goals in 13 starts is all very well, but can we tell when he'll start and when he'll just come off the bench for a short cameo?

His record in all Premier League matches (not just the ones he started) in the past 3 and a bit seasons is:

        2012-13: 32 matches, 2286 mins, 14 goals and 13 assists, 194 FPL points, 6.1ppg
        2013-14: 13 matches, 860 mins, 5 goals and 5 assists, 72 FPL points, 5.5ppg.
        2014-15: 14 matches, 447 mins, 5 goals (3 of which were in GW38) and 1 assist, 51 FPL points, 3.6ppg.
        2015-16: 6 matches, 363 mins, 2 goals and no assists, 22 FPL points, 3.7ppg.

So his record in 2014-15 and this season is not very impressive.
The question is whether he can get back to at least his 2013-14 level for ppg, and to his 2011-12 and 2012-13 level for minutes played?

I got him last week and already have the headache of wondering whether he'll start vs Man Utd.

I guess we'll know more after tonight. If he only plays 70 minutes for example, I'd say it's probably a sign he's being rested for the weekend.

My TV has taken a battering and right now I'm just going with the LEI tide - they can score goals and Mahrez is no longer relevant as an FPL player unless you captain him.

If you believe in the LEI attack and overall form, the only choice is to get Vardy. Mahrez' points alone won't benefit you.

Explosion seems unlikely, he just isn't much of a goalscorer. I'd been hoping for a steady stream of assists but that doesn't seem to be happening either.

If I had the cash to upgrade him to KDB, I would. I might even swap him out for Mane.

Martial's next three 'tough' fixtures are Arsenal, Everton and City who this week conceded 2, 2 and 4 goals respectively to Leicester, West Brom, and Spurs.

Every chance of a goal or two across them and then some easier fixtures to follow.

mane mahrez hazard sterling --- fletcher
    kun deeney martial

i am 0.1 short to do sterling + deeney >> payet + vardy (-8)...sigh and sterling/deeney likely to drop in price..

    what to do with sterling/deeney.

Underlying stats are starting to kick in finally, with Sanchez Pelle Vardy all scoring well.

Slow but steady rise up the rankings has finally begun.

Time to keep the faith in the stats....

Certain players always have strong stats though, Pelle included. Need to mix it with fixtures I think.

With Sturridge back they are likely to form a nice little partnership I reckon, unlike with him and Benteke

I really agree with this....people get too carried away with Stats at times - Pelle had good stats during his terrible baron spell last season, for example

No, he didn't. Not if you read them correctly. His shots were all off target - like Agüero now ...
