Our midweek “Weekly Shop” article arrives once again this afternoon, as we cast an eye over those players currently under consideration for our squads across weekly and daily Fantasy Football games.

This early scouting article is divided into two sections. The “Better Buys” will look at the key players for the week ahead, generally assessing those in-form assets who are braced for a promising fixture. The “Poundstretchers”, on the other hand, are the Gameweek prospects that should offer excellent value – often one-week punts, whose lower price tags enable funds to be spent on the big-hitters elsewhere in our lineups.

In today’s article, we assess what’s on offer in this week’s featured game, FantasyBet.

Better Buys

With Joe Hart only fit enough for the bench due to a back complaint last week, Willy Caballero earned a first start of the season between the sticks in Manchester City’s 4-1 loss at White Hart Lane. With Hart (5.5m in FantasyBet) expected to be re-installed for the visit of Newcastle, the Etihad side will be hoping to recapture the form that saw them keep five successive clean sheets before conceding twice against West Ham in Gameweek 6. Adrian (5m) is our other favored pick in goal this week. A trip to a Sunderland side that have failed to score a goal in their last three bodes well for the Hammers shot-stopper.

Although Crystal Palace don’t have the best defensive record under Alan Pardew, a clean sheet against Watford reminded us that the occasional shut-out is possible. Having scored and assisted against Villa at Selhurst Park already, we feel Scott Dann’s (5m) threat in the box makes the central defender a viable option at home to a West Brom side that has scored just twice on their travels this term.

With Sergio Aguero misfiring and David Silva sidelined for the third successive league outing last week, Kevin De Bruyne (10m) continued his fine form since arriving from Wolfsburg. The Belgian’s instant impact is evidence by goals in back-to-back league defeats to West Ham and Spurs, whilst he also scored and teed up an assist for Raheem Sterling (9m), in the recent cup win over Sunderland. The ex-Liverpool player is another to consider this week – visitors Newcastle have conceded at least twice on five of the first seven Gameweeks.

As mentioned in the Weekly Shop earlier in the season, while Riyad Mahrez (5.5m) was taking the plaudits, Jamie Vardy (6m) has been just as consistent in racking up the points and moves from the Poundstretcher category firmly into the Better Buys camp. The striker has scored five times in the last four and the brace against Arsenal underlined his fixture-proof appeal. As FantasyBet prices remain unchanged since the start of the season, both offer good value as the Foxes travel to Carrow Road, given that hosts Norwich are yet to keep a clean sheet this term.

Poundstretchers

Wayne Hennessey replaced Alex McCarthy and secured a first shut-out of the campaign for the Eagles against Watford so should retain his place for the visit of West Brom. Available for just 4m in FantasyBet, the Welshman looks a great enabler to allow more funds to be spent further up the field.

Aston Villa have not kept a clean sheet since their opening match at Bournemouth but host a Stoke side that have been unable to find the net on three occasions. Jordan Amavi’s (5m) assist at Liverpool was his second of the season and reinforces his credentials as the defensive asset of choice in Tim Sherwood’s backline.

Having served up four goals and 12 assists last season, Yannick Bolasie (6.5m) has yet to return attacking points this term. After a lack of minutes in the opening matches, he’s returned to the Palace XI once again and we fancy his chances of breaching a Baggies defence that shipped three goals to Everton on Monday evening.

Matt Ritchie’s (6m) volley against Sunderland in Bournemouth’s last home match reminded us of why the Cherries midfielder attracted so much pre-season interest. Callum Wilson’s long-term knee injury means that Ritchie’s contribution will be vital for Eddie Howe’s side as fellow newcomers Watford visit Dean Court. Wilson’s absence also makes Glenn Murray (6m) a viable option, with the striker likely to earn a first league start for the Cherries – seven goals and five assists in under 900 minutes last term shows the veteran is capable of filling the gap.

Rudy Gestede (6m) well-taken brace at Anfield – with one assisted by the aforementioned Amavi – took his tally to three goals in his last two appearances in all competitions. Against a Stoke side that have conceded in every match so far, Villa will be playing to Gestede’s strengths, so expect plenty of crosses and potentially another goal or two from the frontman.

These are the players on my radar ahead of this weekend’s weekly contests. On Friday, I’ll be back with a further look at this week’s FantasyBet game as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

I think Remy would be a great signing for West Ham United or Crystal Palace

Particularly goal conversion? Because other than that Mane looks good too.

Although it is a different case when we use the comparison tool. It easier to use that tool when comparing two player I guess.

Chances created should be cross from the list.

But yeah, the goal conversion is a massive difference.

Literally just submitted it then, hope it is of use to you.

If you look at their goals/assists, there seems to have been a role reversal.

Tadic with 3 goals and 1 assist, Mane with 1 goal and 4 assists.

Tadic has outstanding creativity stats and I expect he will bag a handful of assists in the coming weeks too.

Money to bring all them in and I don't really thing having kun or martial should affect your decision.

So this is sort of like a deadzone now. How about talking some Pedro?

I haven't taken a hit this season, but I am willing to take hits when I feel they are removing players that shouldn't have been there, and getting in players that I will continue to want it. Pedro is starting to look like one, and he has the Damocles Sword of benching hanging over him now.

Thinking of doing a hit to get in either Payet or Mata. Would obviously get KDB if possible, but tripled up on city already.

    Whaddya think?

It's a deadzone because either a lot of casuals have stopped playing the game or people have commitments

What's the source of the Pedro benching talk?

It is tempting I know, but Chelsea's fixtures do pick up and they have to turn things round soon surely?

For what it's worth, I do have the money in the bank and the spare transfer to turn Pedro into KDB, is that strongly recommended?

      1. FPL Emu

I mean, I think that's worth it anyway.

Benching might not happen, but KDB is nailed for sure, on form, and on some set pieces. Pedro has none of those. I have a hard time seeing him being anything more than a Oscar-type player right now (the one who scores sort of decently, but who you will always feel shouldn't be there)

You may be right there. The only difference I can see between him and Oscar, so far at least, is that he seems to have been less of a rotation risk. But if he's close to a benching too then I think he's had it as a fantasy asset.

Pedro reminds me a bit of Sanchez's first few weeks in the prem league last season, a bit of headless chicken. I do suspect he would start doing well if it wasn't for the rest of the team looking crap.

He has 8 strong attackers, so if Walcott is benched, he will have a strong guy off of the bench. If Walcott plays, he tends to score, at least thus far this year.

Passing is horrible, impossible to turn someone even with players that are good at dribbling, pace means basically nothing, referees blow for free kicks when you've got an advantage, first touches seem to do what they want. Maybe I'm just my used to it yet though.

I remember every time I bought a new FIFA I always found it hard to play and that they were making backwards steps. And then FIFA 14 came out and it was brilliant! great graphics, great gameplay. From what you're saying though I guess EA are still living up to their title of worst company in the world.

I'm into my 5th season on ultimate team normally only takes me a couple to get used to the new one. What formation do you use? I don't know if it's my 4-1-2-1-2 that's the problem.

Yeah it was frustrating to start off with but after putting a few hours under your belt you get used to the gameplay again. I imagine that's what you're having problems with?

Over the years fifa's gameplay has become predictable so they've tried to change it a bit but to no success

I've put in a fair few hours already! It's things like the random terrible first touches and referees blowing for FK's when you've got an advantage that are really annoying me.

Could be right. Might be worth a gamble at his price though.

    UCL:

Need to have 2 out of 3 to come in today:

    - De Bruyne
    - Alex Texeira
    - Martial

    Which 2?

Tim Howard is soon going to become a very nice only keeper to have.

Sounds like an argument for getting him in now, then. I'm actually considering dumping McCarthy for him for a hit, as that's a transfer needing to happen anyway

Play Mata or Martial tonight in UCL...could play both but would mean losing Shatov's 7 points.

Also I presume most will be shifting armband to CR7 (currently on Suarez 9 points)?

Can't see Martial or Mata getting that much more than 7, I'd play just Mata.

I would shift the armband to CR7 too in your situation

The only reason i'm not going to is because i captained lewandowski

You're in a similar position with me :/

I also have the option of losing Shatov's 7pts but I wouldn't touch that. 7 pts is good and safe.

I would go with Martial but it's pretty close. Also Ronaldo captain makes sense for you. I'm on Leva (C) so that's not changing.

Just noticed the guy behind me in mini-league has got Hart, Kolorov and Sagna.

Seems a bit overkill to me.
