Danny Ings and Joe Gomez are ruled out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage for Liverpool. Laurent Koscielny requires a late fitness test as Arsenal head to Watford, West Ham have doubts over Winston Reid and Aaron Cresswell, whilst Alexis Sanchez and Riyad Mahrez will be assessed after arriving back late from internationals.

Having only arrived back in London on Thursday afternoon following Chile’s win in Peru, Alexis Sanchez is set to be assessed ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Watford. Elsewhere in the Gunners camp, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini return to the squad, while Laurent Koscielny faces a late fitness test. Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck are said to be recovering well from their injuries, with the latter pencilled in for a January return.

Slaven Bilic revealed that Andy Carroll is back in contention after missing West Ham’s trip to Sunderland last Gameweek, but Aaron Creswell and Winston Reid are being monitored closely to determine their capacity to start at Crystal Palace. Enner Valencia and Alex Song require another two to three weeks to get up to speed, whilst Angelo Ogbonna could be in contention after returning to training.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Joe Gomez is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he sustained anterior cruciate ligament damage. Danny Ings suffered a similar injury during Klopp’s maiden training session, ruling him out for around six months. Liverpool’s trip to Tottenham arrives too early for Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino, but the pair are expected to return to team training next week.

Spurs new boy Heung-Min Son faces up to another three weeks out as he nurses a foot injury. Meanwhile, Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason will also play no part against the Reds but could be involved in the Lilywhites’ midweek Europa League tie against Anderlecht. Eric Dier serves a one-match suspension this weekend.

Wes Hoolahan recovered from the heel knock he picked up last time out against Leicester City over the recent international break. Gary Hooper is back training following his ankle complaint, whilst Youssouf Mulumbu won’t feature against Newcastle United but could make a return to the matchday squad next Gameweek.

Roberto Martinez said that Everton’s full international contingent returned home fit and healthy. John Stones is expected to be passed fit, whilst Seamus Coleman returned to action over the internationals. The likes of Leighton Baines, Tom Cleverley and Steven Pienaar are approximately two weeks away from being up for selection.

Following the death of his mother, Mame Biram Diouf has been granted compassionate leave and will miss Stoke City’s trip to Swansea City on Monday evening. Mark Hughes expects the Senegal international to report back at the beginning of next week. Ryan Shawcross continued his road to recovery with a 90-minute run-out against Birmingham in a behind-closed-doors friendly, setting him up for a possible return in two weeks’ time.

Ronald Koeman could hand Jordy Clasie – who played 90 minutes in a friendly against Ajax last week – his league bow when Leicester pay a visit. On the injury front, Shane Long damaged his ankle ligament during the international break and will be sidelined for two to four weeks.

Claudio Ranieri will check on the fitness of Riyad Mahrez and Jeffrey Schlupp prior to the Foxes’ trip to the south coast as the pair only reported back on Thursday morning. Nathan Dyer bolsters Ranieri’s wide options after recovering from a knee injury.

Damien Delaney, Chung-yong Lee, Mile Jedinak and Jordon Mutch all returned to training for Crystal Palace and will be available for selection when the Hammers roll up to Selhurst Park. Joel Ward and Connor Wickham are still sidelined, though.

In the absence of Tim Krul, Rob Elliot will play between the sticks for Newcastle United. Paul Dummett, Daryl Janmaat, Massadio Haidara and Jack Colback trained during the week so are in contention for a start at home to Norwich City.

Despite not being fit enough to turn out for their countries during the international break, Ikechi Anya, Allan Nyom and Valon Behrami are expected to recover in time to feature against Arsenal on Saturday. Jurado is contending with a hamstring injury but could return to training within the fortnight.

Jonny Evans, James Morrison and Saido Berahino are rated 50-50 for West Brom’s home clash with Sunderland, according to Tony Pulis. Salomon Rondon will be assessed after arriving back late from internationals.

I think Mahrez will play, he's had a few weeks rest and theres no way Ranieri will keep him on the bench for that long.

The only one to defo get rid of is Aguero.

Berahino is bad news for me too

Got the very last post on the last article lol:

I used my FT on Aguero > Pelle, my other strikers are Berahino and Diouf

Diouf is out which is a given so was planning on going 3-5-2 but now Berahino is 50/50 apparently.

Should i do a hit to get rid of Diouf and bring in Lukaku incase Berahino doesnt play? Otherwise a defender will come in and both Cresswell and Nyom are flagged lol

No, with all the hits being taken this week, you could go to -8 if needed and still be competitive...

Yeah, it was. At the time I thought I had to raise funds to turn Diouf into Pelle and money was tight. Of course if I'd held on a little longer I'd have been swimming in cash and could have kept Azpilicueta, still - could work out. Does mean I'll be -8 and still have Kolarov/Evans/Mahrez though!

Serious question, on Wc and had low team value so struggling to get everyone in.

Got 1 or 2 too many bottom rung price players here. Any tips on how to get in a playing defender for Simpson?

Am thinking mahrez could make way for hoolahan as i have vardy to cover?

    Hart, Hennesey
    Bellerin, Bertrand, francis, Coates, Simpson
    Haz, Sanchez, KDB, Mahrez, Payet
    Pelle, Vardy, Graham

I think Simpson may well be a playing defender - so ok for the 5th spot. Graham is your only real concern - but you should be able to downgrade on of the big 3 mids to upgrade here.

Maybe time to WC, there might not be a better time for you to do it anyway.

Would love to play all out attack this week as I only have 2 fit defenders, but Sanchez is proving a right headache.

    Butland
    Cedric Azpi Kolarov
    Hazard Sanchez Mahrez Payet
    Ighalo Pelle Sakho

    subs:Schmeicel Francis Westwood Saylor*

Maybe take a hit and do Weswtood > Yaya(if fit)/Sterling/Mane and bench Ighalo ?

Mane is a differential in my mini-league. But, I'm currently on WC and tempted to downgrade Mane to Tadic (on pens) in order to upgrade this defence:

    Dawson//Moreno//Davies//Simpson//Fernandez

What do you think? Should I free up .9 and upgrade Davies to Bertrand say? (would give me Pelle/Tadic or Mane/Bertrand though)

      Don't.
Mane is too good and OOP basically

Yeah,I figured,I think Tadic will be in amongst the points though, but you're right.

After missing the first 4 weeks, wildcarded this week with so many hits in an aim to make up some ground. Any changes needed?

    Myhill/Butland
    Bertrand/Toby/Dann/Williams/Morgan
    Sanchez/Theo/KDB/Mane/Ayew
    Pelle/Gomis/Ighalo

Lukaku over Gomis (You have Ayew)
      Where's Vardy/Mahrez?
      Sanchez OR Theo

Feel like I've missed the boat with Leicester and their form can't go on.

I'll look at a Theo downgrade to get Lukaku in.

        Thanks for the input!

I feel like the scene in Jurassic park film where the raptors are picking off my men one at a time and I turn round and its only me , a limping yaya and mignolet left, and mignolet has just dropped the bag with the eggs in it.

5th defender, budget is £4.2: Simpson or Browning?

Browning's going to lose his spot when the Everton rearguard is back fighting fit. Simpson is still a bit of a question mark in terms of where he stands. So, it's a bit of a 50/50 but I've gone for Simpson on my WC.
