Tottenham’s Erik Lamela become the latest player to topple off the Suspension Tightrope after earning his fifth caution of the campaign during this afternoon’s north London derby at the Emirates. The in-form Argentine – whose absence could pave the way for fit-again Heung Min-Son to stake a claim for a starting berth – misses Spurs’ upcoming home match-up against West Ham United but will be available when Chelsea roll up to White Hart Lane in Gameweek 14.

With five new arrivals over the weekend’s fixtures, the Suspension Tightrope is drawing quite the crowd – there’s now an 18-strong band of wrongdoers on four bookings as we head into the international break.

Southampton’s Graziano Pelle is certainly the most pertinent of the new recruits from a Fantasy perspective. The Saints’ leading marksman currently sits at a hefty 34% ownership – having bagged four goals and as many assists in seven starts – and will be wary of committing further indiscretions ahead of a home tie against Aston Villa in Gameweek 15.

The Italian was joined by James McCarthy, Chris Brunt, Glenn Whelan and Cheick Tiote. The Newcastle enforcer has now chalked up more yellow cards (53) than any player in the Premier League since he made the switch to St James’ Park in August 2010.

In terms of new bans, West Brom defender Gareth McAuley received his marching orders for denying Anthony Martial a clear goal scoring opportunity at Old Trafford, making him the only recipient of a red card throughout the weekend. The Northern Ireland international has been handed a one-match suspension and misses out when Arsenal pay visit after the international break, returning for a trip to West Ham in Gameweek 14.

After the 2-0 defeat, Baggies boss Tony Pulis was somewhat critical of the centre-half and acknowledged McAuley’s challenge left referee Mike Dean with little alternative:

“Gareth McAuley (for the red card and penalty) should have stayed on his feet and if the kid scores the kid scores…It’s difficult for Mike. You could feel, with a couple of minutes to go, that he might look at it differently. But the letter of the law says that if he’s last man and he brings him down he has to send him off.”

Aside from McAuley, James Collins is the only other player serving out a suspension during the next round of fixtures. The Hammers’ seasoned centre-back has two fixtures remaining on his three-match ban, ruling him out of a road tie against Tottenham Hotspur and a home clash against West Brom. With Winston Reid back in the frame, however, it’s unlikely that Collins will reclaim a starting berth upon his return.

United’s Matteo Darmian is now available for the upcoming trip to Watford after he fell off last week’s Tightrope. Norwich skipper Russell Martin and Southampton’s Victor Wanyama are both back in contention after they were dismissed during last week’s matches.

As always, mainly thanks to our resident Tightrope expert Anorak, who has been keeping us up-to-date via his twitter stream.

I know its early, but what's your thoughts on these?:

    A: Sanchez ---> Ozil
    B: Pelle ---> Lukaku/Giroud
    C: Dawson ---> Bertrand
D: Muniesa ---> Palace defender (Kelly or Delaney)
E Combo of the above for -4 hit

    DDG, McCarthy
    Monreal, Kolarov, Dawson, Muniesa, Francis

The thing is I want Lukaku, but don't necessarily need him...Pelle scores in weird fixtures, I sold him once this season already and he went on to score 13, 8 and 14 in the games I haven't owned him.

It's not really necessary to sell him, but I'd like to...Both of them are very unpredictable though. After I sold Pelle I couldn't believe how is this guy scoring so many goals, he couldn't do anything when I owned him.

If you are considering dropping Sanchez or KDB for Ozil...

KDB: since his first game he has always been involved in a goal (in the premier league) every time city score. The only games he has blanked are the two games city didn't score.

Aguero and Silva will be back soon, perhaps even as early as next gw which will only increase KDB's chance of scoring/assists.

Sanchez: more explosive than Ozil but Ozil consistent returns will balance out Sanchez's big hauls. Since gw 7 sanchez has scored 53 points (20, 16, 10, 2, 3, 2). In that same period Ozil has.......you guessed it 53 points (5, 13, 12, 5, 10, 8).

For those who have invested the cash they got from transferring Aguero out elsewhere, Sanchez ---> Ozil could be a way to facilitate bringing Aguero in.

The downside of transferring Sanchez out is lose of captaincy choice. If you had the armband on him during one of his big scores then you can leap up in ranks. However, as Il Sessino mentioned to me earlier, it is difficult to predict these hauls and you will most likely have other choices.

Yeah I suppose it's not a fair comparison if you take Aguero out of the equation because you can afford much better than 5.5m in mid.

Just wondering if maybe looking at a decent defence might be better.

Aguero or not probably would be the decider anyway

Tough decision when choosing strikers now. Ighalo, Vardy, Lukaku and Kane are all playing well and then there's Aguero coming back.

What's the ideal combo to have right now? Consider price/value.

I'm thinking Lukaku, Kane and Vardy.

This is my current strike force. (Transfered in Lukaku this week.) With a bit of re-tooling like downgrading Sanchez to Ozil and maybe KDB to Silva I could afford Aguero in for Vardy.

For all that I think we shouldn't be in any rush to bring in Kun while our other forwards are performing, it does also occur to me that times like this are potentially when owning Kun could provide the most benefit.

Kun is usually owned by every serious FPL player, making whatever points he gets somewhat redundant as everyone gets them. These brief windows where he's coming back from an injury offer the rare opportunity to own Aguero as a 10% ownership differential. When you look at it like that maybe bringing him in straight away isn't such a terrible idea.....

Could very well happen. Tired of seeing his name in my team two and Lukaku is killing me atm. Pelle also on 4 yellows.

I was thinking about doing the same move. And why does a forward have to get so many yellows? It's really annoying as I see no reason why a forward making a foul for a yellow card would be necesary.

Hey all, pretty happy with my GW12 score of 57. Playing Wijnaldum over Payet and captained Lukaku which was a headache all week. 109k >> 81k

Would like to start downgrading for Kun return but happy to play my front 3 for GW13
            1FT 1.8itb
            Stekelenburg (mccarthy)
            Bellerin Kompany Williams (Evans, Moreno)
            Sanchez KDB Wijnaldum Mahrez (Payet**)
            Vardy Lukaku Pelle

Any ideas on Payet replacements priced @ 5.5 or just go 4.5
            Williams >>4.4
            Payet >> 5.5
            Pelle >>Kun thoughts

If you had to guess, when would Lukaku's second rise be?

Things usually slow right down over the international weekend right?

Spurs should have won that game today. They're looking very well organised at the back and Deli Alli, what a find.

Could've easily lost though. Giroud looked dangerous with all the crosses he recieved.

Giroud is one reason Arsenal won't win the league. Not reliable enough. They still require a top notch striker.

This, the amount of chances Giroud had today, a top quality €25m striker is going to put at least one of them away, and that would have been 2 more points for Arsene.

If they ever do sign a striker though, Ozil will be irresistible.

🙁 If I hadn't brought in Ighalo, I'd have played Kane, captained Lukaku and had 2 FT this week.
Still, my best season by miles so can't really complain 😉

I know it sounds dull but maybe the Premier League is going back to learning the art of defending.

Dropped from 1k to 12k - Team is a shambles, time to take action:

            Myhill > DDG
            Bony > Lukaku
            Payet > Ozil

            -8

            Thoughts?

Payet, Mane and Bony to Coutinho, Willian and Giroud, this is going to freshen up my stale team.

You'd think he'd now be nailed on given his form.

I am wondering whether Barkley might still be a better option though. Only slightly more expensive, nailed on and very shot-happy.

He only gets into these ridiculously wrong range shooting positions mostly. I'm avoiding Barkley personally.
