Sergio Aguero steps up his recovery from a hamstring complaint. Vincent Kompany misses training for Belgium, Antonio Valencia is set for a period on the sidelines, whilst James Milner pulls out of the England squad due to hamstring trouble.

Aguero Targets Gameweek 13 Return

Sergio Aguero is recovering well from a hamstring injury he sustained during the last international break and is targeting a return when Manchester City host Liverpool next Gameweek. Discussing his fitness with the club’s official website, the Argentine marksman revealed:

“I don’t think I’m too far away now. Physically, I feel good and I’ve kept as fit as I can during my lay-off. I still need to work hard for another week and if not this week, then maybe next, I hope to start training with the rest of the lads and so and my target is Liverpool. I’ll take things slowly and not rush into anything, but I’m not far away.”

The Scout Says: For many Fantasy managers, drafting Aguero back into their 15-man squads will be an essential exercise. Despite the fact that there are a number of mid-priced forwards enjoying purple patches, the City striker’s explosive potential – as evidenced by his five-goal haul against Newcastle prior to picking up the hamstring injury during the previous international break – is head and shoulders above any other armband option. With the likes of Jamie Vardy and Odion Ighalo offering budget-friendly options up front, many will be looking to free up cash as City prepare for a run of four home matches in the next six. Providing Aguero is passed fit, he’ll be difficult to ignore with a mere 10% ownership underlining his differential appeal.

Kompany Misses Belgium Training

Local reports indicate that Vincent Kompany missed Belgium’s first training session due to a minor calf problem yesterday.

The Scout Says: Bearing in mind that Kompany played for his country against the wishes of Manuel Pellegrini in the last batch of internationals, it remains to be seen whether yesterday’s omission was merely precautionary. The Belgian’s importance to City’s defensive prospects is laid bare by the statistics – the league leaders have conceded just one goal in eight matches with Kompany on board compared to eight goals against in four outings without him. With Gael Clichy back in contention and Pablo Zabaleta closing in on a return, Kompany remains the most secure route into the City rearguard as rotation looms large in the full-back berths, though any possible spell on the sidelines would undoubtedly dent our faith in their ability to serve up the shut-outs.

Morrison Hopeful of Return

James Morrison is hoping that the international break will allow him to fully recover from a knock that he’s been nursing since West Bromwich Albion’s road defeat to Crystal Palace in Gameweek 8. The Scottish midfielder admitted that he’s lacked sharpness since jarring his leg:

“It’s not right at the moment. I’m struggling to get it better  this break’s going to be crucial for me to get my body right. It’s been a funny one  I just planted my foot against Crystal Palace and something happened. I’m working hard and I can deal with it at the moment. But this break will be nice for me to get it right and get some fitness and sharpness back and continue my form from the start of the season.”

The Scout Says: Priced at 4.8, Morrison has already surpassed his attacking output from the previous campaign (two goals and one assist), with two goals and as many assists arriving in less than a third of the time (692 minutes compared to 2553). Although Morrison ranks top among the Baggies’ midfielders for attempts (12), shots on target (seven) and key passes (12), West Brom’s joint-worst attacking record (10 goals) and the presence of more alluring options at his price range (the likes of Manuel Lanzini, Delle Alli and Marc Albrighton) diminish his appeal on the Fantasy market.

Palace Strike Pair Step Up Fitness Drive

Alan Pardew is adamant that Marouane Chamakh and Connor Wickham will be given no time to rest during the international break as he strives to improve their fitness. The Palace boss asserted that his charges have done exceptionally to accrue 19 points without their two prime forwards:

“Marouane Chamakh and Connor Wickham need a pre-season really, or a mini pre-season, so that’s what they’re going to get. They will get no time off. They will play and train in this break solidly at the training ground to make sure when we come back against Sunderland and Newcastle, we have the option of those two guys. If you look at any Premier League team, if you take your top two strikers out of it, we’ve done terrific really. To have Connor and Marouane back, I do think my hand is going to be stronger.”

The Scout Says: Although the Eagles have fared pretty well in the absence of a physical presence up top, it’s fair to day that they’ve struggled to exert their influence in and around the penalty box. Prior to Sunday’s win at Liverpool – which marked Wickham’s return from injury off the bench – Palace had scored just four times in seven matches without a target man leading the line. Having been afforded a 26-minute run-out at Anfield, the 5.5-priced Wickham is poised to reclaim a starting berth and, as such, harbours differential potential ahead of back-to-back favourable home ties (SUN, NEW) and clashes against Everton, Stoke and Bournemouth in the upcoming six.

Valencia Sidelined with Foot Injury

Antonio Valencia underwent surgery for a foot injury he sustained in the Manchester derby. The Ecuador international took to Twitter to break the news:

“Thank God came out well from the operation. Now think about my recovery”

The Scout Says: Valencia’s injury could be good news for Matteo Darmian’s prospects of nailing down the right-back berth once again. The 13%-owned Italian managed just two lots of 90 minutes in the six Gameweeks prior to last weekend’s win over West Brom, which he missed due to a one-match suspension, and he will be hoping to oust Ashley Young from Louis van Gaal’s first XI. Although United’s defence have conceded the fewest goals and notched the most clean sheets (both eight) in the first 12 Gameweeks, only Chris Smalling – at a price of 6.7 – looks immune from rotation. In saying that, Marcos Rojo has started the last four due to Luke Shaw’s long-term injury and, at a price of 5.5, could be another one to consider.

Cleverley looking to reclaim starting berth

Fit-again Tom Cleverley conceded that he faces a tall task trying to re-establish himself a regular starter for Everton. The ex-Manchester United recruit did, however, suggest that his versatility is an asset that Roberto Martinez could be keen to exploit:

“You always face a fight to get in the team at a club like Everton, especially with so many midfielders. So it is going to be tough getting back into the team and I knew that at the start of the season but I backed myself and, hopefully, when I played I helped the team get some good results. I was pleased with the way things had started here. I’d started all the games and sometimes settling in with a new team can be difficult but I didn’t feel that, it was easy. One of my qualities is my versatility, I can play central, I can play right or left and I’ve even played right-back this season. That’s one of my qualities and when I get asked to do a job, I can do it.”

The Scout Says: Before succumbing to injury at White Hart Lane in Gameweek 4, Cleverley had been named in the Toffees’ starting XI for every league match. Since then, Arouna Kone (three goals and one assist in last two outings) and Gerard Deulofeu (one goal and six assists in six) have stamped their authority on the wide berths, meaning that Cleverley will be consigned to substitute duty for the time being as he steps up his match sharpness. Everton’s attacking contingent as a whole are experiencing an upsurge of interest in light of their excellent schedule through to the New Year (AVL, bou, CRY, nor, LEI, new, STO) and, whilst Cleverley’s return adds competition to the flanks, the 6.2-priced Deulofeu – with a goal and six assists in the last six – is shaping up as a viable contender to Ross Barkley as a route into the Toffees’ thriving midfield.

Milner Withdraws from England Duties

James Milner – who missed Liverpool’s home defeat to Crystal Palace by virtue of a hamstring strain – has pulled out of England’s squad prior to their pair of international friendlies.

The Scout Says: With a goal, three assists and a trio of bonus points in his previous five appearances, Milner had finally started to suggest he was worthy of our consideration. The arrival of Jurgen Klopp has given Philippe Coutinho a shot in the arm, though – the Brazilian has now served up back-to-back double-figure hauls, courtesy of three goals and six bonus points. Once their upcoming trip to City has passed, the Merseysiders’ following six fixtures (SWA, new, WBA, wat, LEI, sun) looks poised to pique our Fantasy interest, with Coutinho – at a price of 8.2 – looking their in-form option in the centre of the park.

Re-post because it's such a great post that no-one has ever seen before

    Thoughts on this -4

Payet, Mitrovic, Kolarov out. Ozil, Kane, Hutton in.

    Leaves me with:

    Myhill
    Smalling Clyne Bertrand
    Ozil Sanchez KDB Mahrez
    Lukaku Pelle Kane

    (McCarthy, Hutton, Huth, Westwood)

Need to sort goalkeepers at some point soon but want Kane and not sure I like the downgrade options with Payet.

Pelle has done okay at home and I kept Mitrovic for their last decent fixture and he didn't do much. I watched the game and Newcastle looked poor - barely created much. He also got brought off at the 61st minute for Cisse which didn't give me much faith

I said quality and current form combined. He has like 5 goals last season, and used to play in non-league three years ago. I'd give him a season before saying if he is 'quality' enough.

I mean one for "on form" and one for the premier league 11.

No way Aguero should be in this team ahead of someone like Vardy going on form.

It depends what your biggest factor is but based on current form Vardy has to make the squad at least. I wouldn't say Kane's ability is so much better than Vardy's that he trumps him.

Yes, Vardy needs to have seasons of 15+ goals, and proper consistency to show how good he is. We know how so many players fail to pick themselves up after a certain 'dream run' ends.

Yes, why not. Kane has been immense this season as well. He had much more to contribute than goals early in the season, and now he's scoring them as well.

Also, this is Kane's second year in senior football, Vardy's probably sixth or seventh... and probably this is the first year when Vardy's goalscoring record has been flattering.

I have to agree with everyone that if going on current form Vardy has to be in there, and you say you want to see a season of 15+ goals, yet you have Kane in there because he contributed to more than goals this season, Vardy did that for Leicester last season, let's not forget his barrage of assists in the Utd game.

On form you'd have to have Vardy. If I was, say, picking a provisional team for a few months time, where all players will be fit but I can't predict form:

      ----------------------De Gea

It's a tough call, Cazorla is a phenomenal player. but Toure *on form* is one of the best central midfielders I've seen in this league. Off form he's a liability, but I'd take the risk.

I'm beginning to doubt KDB's value. Now priced at 10.7, he's scored 5,3,5,3 since I brought him in.

Anyone else thinking of ditching him? Who will you bring in instead? Ozil? Coutinho? Maybe Sterling?

His fantasy points have gone down right after Aguero and Silva got injured. City aren't really in form without them too away from home. KdB with all those + Sterling seems too good and I plan to give him some time when they are all fit.

With Leicester's 'tough run' beginning in GW14, will you be keeping Mahrez, Vardy, neither or both?

I think I'll be selling Vardy and keeping Mahrez (purchase price 5.5) enabling a front three of Lukaku/Kane/Kun

    1. AK ⭐
      • 13 Years

I think it's too soon to really pick one, I think we'd know about them better if and when Leicester stop scoring freely. When the goals are scarce, that's when we'll know who to pick, right now, you can't separate them.

    2. Saniul
      • 13 Years

Only one. Here's to hoping Vardy gets rid of the streak, and Mahrez is back on pens. There's too many good forward options (like a front line of Kun/Kane/Lukaka)

    Butland - Elliot
    Azpi - Moreno - Souare - Alderw - Cook
    Sanchez - Willian - Alli - Mane - Kdb
    Pelle - Vardy - Lukaku

Good to go for next gw?
Then I`ll get 2 ft and my plan is to do:

Pelle, Kdb & Sanchez -> Aguero, Ozil & Silva the week after for -4.

    Good idea?

Payet out and Lanzini or Albrighton in for a -4 point hit?

That would give me the funds to update Lukaku to Aguero in one of the next gameweeks.

Or should I not care about that and just go for Coutinho or Mahrez as Payet replacements?

I think so too, though I hope I'm wrong.

Payet created over a third of West Ham's chances so far this season. The next most prolific creator was responsible for less than a twelfth of them. Someone will need to step up big-time and I don't know who that would be.

Very hard to say. He's been making fabulous progress at U21 level and this may be his breakout season, making him a steal at his price. Or, LVG may be just giving him a few games to give Depay a scare / space to reflect on his game.

If the latter then you're going to be really mad at yourself for having a non-playing 5th mid during the Christmas rotation-fest and you'll resent having to spend another transfer fixing your sub.

Risk of the latter scenario put me off.

BIG reason to get him in as soon as he is fit. I am thinking Payet and Pelle and Aguero and Alli.

I'm saying getting him the week he explodes will be crucial, or before if the players ppl own instead of him also fails. After he explodes he aint gonna be a differential and thus nothing to gain from owning him but lots to lose not owning him if he continues to fire.

Sure. But for now, there are cheaper in-form players who are fully fit, will play the 90 minutes, and have better fixtures. No reason to ditch for Aguero right away, imo.

Definitely, I do have a plan for Aguero though and it wouldn't take more more than 2, at max 3 to get him.

I'd give Aguero 2 games before jumping on him, by then we'd be able to assess those 3 as well

Lukaku is far from being consistent. 2 returns, 4 blanks, 2 returns, 2 blanks, 2 returns. I saw him against Westham, and his finishing was poor. Sames story with him every year, you just cannot rely on him.

Kane may be back to his best, but I'm reluctant to get him still. Against both ARS and AVL he was fairly quiet most match, however his finishing was exquisite. I am still not 100% convinced.

In the most recent games( last 6 GWs) Lukaku has scored 5 times and assisted a teammate thrice.
He has returned at least goal/assist in 4 out of those 6 GWs. The two blanks came against two of the league's best defences, Man United and Arsenal.

Overall, throughout the entire season, Lukaku has blanked 6 times. Against these teams:

Man City, Tottenham, Chelsea, Swansea, Man United and Arsenal.

Can't really blame him...he has far easier fixtures now, and has been showing more consistency.

He was very unlucky not to score vs ManU. DDG was beaten, lying on the floor and just stuck a leg out...

Would love to hear some opinions on this.

    Butland, Schmeichel
    Kolarov, Francis, Toby, Ward, Moreno
    Ozil, KDB, Sanchez, Mahrez, Westwood
    Vardy, Martial, Pelle

    1ft, 3.7m in account..

    Mind set on Aguero..

How about these transfers to fix the mess.. -4 over 2 GW's with 0.1m to spare.
    1. Schmeichel- Hennessey ( straight in for next game- 0.5 in savings, more solid)
    2. KDB - Silva ( 0.6m cheaper and hopefully a better return to the slower and declining KDB)
    3. Pelle- Aguero ( Can't afford Martial- Aguero... with the above moves- Pelle has difficult games after next and is on the suspension tightrope)

Also- If I change the KDB- Silva move to a cheaper mid- I could prob bring in Lukaku for Martial if that is a concern.
Who to replace KDB with though?

Backing Martial over Lukaku may prove a huge blunder but hoping his decent enough fixtures and starting up front will mean some decent returns.

Also.. Silva, Aguero, Hennessey may prove great acquisitions..

No matter which way I look at it, I see Ozil as a must with the form he's in

Aguero back means I'm going to have to free up some funds...

More hits are incoming ! I've made way too many transfers this season ...

Indeed. The biscuit is replaced by caramel but i feel the consistency of the caramel is a little too thick. The buscuit in Munchies give it a whole new dimension.

Twirl. The reasoning for this is that the flake mostly ends up in the wrapper or on the floor.

Twirl is more solid and easier to eat.

So i lost 0.1 selling value on Payet last night even though I was sure I got him in at 7.6.

I bought him in the third week and it says on the data screen his price then was 7.6

    Anybody else like that?

      I think the formula is

Take his selling price away from his current price

If it's an even number (e.g 0.2) then you won't be affected if he drops
If it's odd you'll lose 0.1 if it drops

It was 7.6 at the GW3 deadline but maybe you got him during the week, at 7.5? You can check your purchase price on the 'Data' tab of the transfers page.

    A) Get lukaku now, and be able to do Mane->Alli + Pelle-> Aguero next week.

I want to get in a CPL defender for their good fixtures ahead, but Dann (5.1) is on the expensive side (would require a hit to get in Aguero next week), so I'm looking at either Ward (4.4) or Souaré (4.5).

Ward seems like great value, with 2 goals before he got injured. After he got back from injury in GW11 he played 90 minutes against United, but does anyone know why he didn't play the last game against Liverpool?

    Help!
