We return with our Wednesday Weekly Shop regular this afternoon, assessing the player lists of our partner games to pinpoint the likely targets that will make up our weekend lineups.

Our analysis of the options is split into two sections: I’ll breakdown the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re scanning the players lists in our two partner games – FantasyBet and Premier Punt.

Better Buys

It’s fair to say that Tottenham have improved defensively this season – Mauricio Pochettino’s side have conceded just ten times, the fourth best backline in the league. With three clean sheets in their last five at White Hart Lane, Hugo Lloris (FantasyBet 5m, Premier Punt 7.7m) is a promising keeper pick this week, given that visitors West Ham are devoid of injured playmaker Dimitri Payet.

While there has been some doubts over Virgil van Dijk’s (FantasyBet 5.5m, Premier Punt 8.6m) fitness, the Dutch defender is confident that he will be ready to start against Stoke. Ryan Bertrand (FantasyBet 5.5m, Premier Punt 7.8m) is also an option as Southampton go in search of a third consecutive clean sheet – the full-back has an assist in each of the last two Gameweeks.

Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil (FantasyBet 8.5m, Premier Punt 11.8m) has been the epitome of consistency over the last six Gameweeks, serving up eight assists and a goal in that run. The German has also been the most creative player in the league over the last four, with 23 chances created, and now travels to the Hawthorns, where West Brom have conceded three goals in four of their six home games.

Crystal Palace have had an encouraging start to the season despite the fact that not one of their strikers has managed to find the net. Instead, the Eagles’ midfield provides us with a host of options to choose from against struggling Sunderland. Yohan Cabaye (FantasyBet 6.5m, Premier Punt 7.9m) is the safer pick with penalties and set pieces helping the Frenchman to notch four goals and an assist so far this term and, whilst Yannick Bolasie (FantasyBet 6.5m, Premier Punt 7.7m) may be more of a maverick selection, he has some explosive potential and looks to be in good form, having scored in both matches for DR Congo over the break.

Romelu Lukaku (FantasyBet 8m, Premier Punt 11.7m) followed up an excellent performance against Sunderland with an equaliser at West Ham, bringing the Belgian’s tally to seven goals for the campaign. Everton host an Aston Villa side that are likely to be tougher to break down under Remi Garde but we’re backing the Toffees striker to continue his run of form, particularly with Gerard Deulofeu (FantasyBet 6.5m, Premier Punt 9.4m) and Arouna Kone (FantasyBet 5m, Premier Punt 7.9m) in support. Both could prove double-up options along with Lukaku after their recent performances, with the former notching five times over the international break for Spain U21s.

Poundstretchers

We return to Crystal Palace for the stand-out budget keeper choice of the round. Wayne Hennessey (FantasyBet 4m, Premier Punt 5.6m) kept out Manchester United in his last appearance at Selhurst Park and has three clean sheets in six ahead of a clash with a Sunderland outfit that has failed to score in three of their last four away trips.

Swansea host a Bournemouth side that have not found the net in their last two matches, offering Gary Monk’s side a good chance to find a first shut out since Gameweek 6. In view of Bournemouth’s recent defensive record, we’ve gone for Kyle Naughton (FantasyBet 5m, Premier Punt 7.8m) as our pick of the hosts’ defence – the full-back looks a decent shout for points at both ends of the pitch, with two assists accrued already this term.

We turn our attention to Tottenham’s attack for some budget selections, either as alternatives or to slot in alongside Harry Kane (FantasyBet 9.5m, Premier Punt 13.5m) against a West Ham side that have not kept out their opponents in seven matches. Dele Alli (FantasyBet 5m, Premier Punt 7.7m) was our pick back in Gameweek 11 and has bagged two goals since then, including the well-taken goal against France. Mousa Dembele (FantasyBet 5.5m, Premier Punt 8.1m) also catches the eye with two goals in three matches and could be one to consider if he shrugs off a knock in time. Hueng Min-Son (FantasyBet 8m, Premier Punt 7.7m) scored twice over the international break and with Erik Lamela and Nacer Chadli sidelined, the fit-again Korean – who is even classed as a midfielder in Premier Punt – looks on course for a first XI return.

There hasn’t been a more reliable budget striker this season than Leicester’s 12-goal Jamie Vardy. The Foxes frontman remains at his original price of 6.0m in FantasyBet and is only 7.4m in PremierPunt but we’re steering clear due to some doubts over his fitness. Instead, we turn to Leicester’s weekend hosts Newcastle, who also have a frontman in form – Ayoze Perez (FantasyBet 5.5m, Premier Punt 7.7m) has three goals and a pair of assists in their last six and could prove an excellent enabler.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups heading into the weekend. I’ll return on Friday with a further assessment of this week’s partner games – FantasyBet and Premier Punt, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

A man went on a trip with a fox, a goose and a sack of corn. He came upon a stream which he had to cross and found a tiny boat to use to cross the stream. He could only take himself and one other - the fox, the goose, or the corn - at a time. If he could not leave the fox alone with the goose or the goose alone with the corn. How does he get all safely over the stream?

Ahh a few people have said that to me, I love the US Office but the UK one is infinitely superior, it's a masterpiece (I actually don't like anything Gervais has done since Extras/the Karl podcasts).

I couldn't get into Extras, I know I should love it, but for some reason I don't, so I put that down to Gervais, but that Office clip was fantastic, I guess I can get on board with that and postpone FM 😉

It just wasn't right without Michael. I never actually found other individual characters that funny (Kevin was horrendously unfunny), so it felt like the entire comedy was removed. Watched 3 or 4 after he left, but then put it aside and never went back to it.

He eats the corn, throws the goose into the water to swim, and puts the fox in his bag.

Then he goes home and develops an effective spreadsheet so as to put a stop to his constant bad planning down the years that has resulted in him hating corn.

These kind of puzzles got quite famous...there was an app also for an even difficult version of the puzzle I remember:

Anyways take the goose over first and come back.
Then take the fox over and bring the goose back.
Now take the corn over and come back alone to get the goose.
Take the goose over and the job is done!

    This is highly tempting

Yaya and Bony to Deulofeu and Kane for -4

But leaves me Cityless which seems like madness

But if Deulofeu rises once I won't be able to afford to get him and Kun

This is one of my favourite "crossing" puzzles:

U2 has a concert that starts in 17 minutes and they must all cross a bridge to get there. All four men begin on the same side of the bridge. You must help them across to the other side. It is night. There is one flashlight. A maximum of two people can cross at one time. Any party who crosses, either 1 or 2 people, must have the flashlight with them. The flashlight must be walked back and forth, it cannot be thrown, etc. Each band member walks at a different speed. A pair must walk together at the rate of the slower man`s pace:

Bono - 1 minute to cross
Edge - 2 minutes to cross
Adam - 5 minutes to cross
Larry - 10 minutes to cross

For example: If Bono and Larry walk across first, 10 minutes have elapsed when they get to the other side of the bridge. If Larry then returns with the flashlight, a total of 20 minutes have passed and you have failed the mission. Your goal is to get all the men across in 17 mins or less.

And immediately fail the mission. This is very easy, Bono goes with Edge first, then Bono goes back, gives the light to Adam, who walks Larry over the bridge, give the light to Edge who returns to pick Bono up.

        2+1+10+2+2=17 minutes.

      Bono & Edge cross

Bono + Larry first, 10 mins

      Bono comes back, 11 mins

Adam + Edge next, 16 mins

Bono, being essentially blind, then starts screaming, "I CAN DO THIS!! WITH OR WITHOUT YOU!!"

And therefore begins to run, before falling off the Edge.

And I'm in a draft league hence the state of my team!

            Bellerin / Cedric / baines / Azpili

Can't understand all these early transfers... there must be a chance of a game being called off due to safety fears in the current climate.

Lol. How are we meant to judge which game is likely to be called off?

Its not unthinkable that a game will be called off before 11:45 on Saturday leaving a lot of players struggling to field FPL sides without hits, due to away fans travelling. Particularly the early kick off. I'm treating this same as a week of snow and making a transfer late saturday morning.

Thats fair enough if price rises don't come into it (in which case you should be doing it anyway).

The problem is any cancellation is likely to be last minute due to a threat being called in for example. Not something i am taking seriously in my planning but i accept in principle it could happen.

To take the above argument to the logical extension, one would then be wise not to make any transfers at all, as games are usually called off at the last minute after the transfer freeze. I think we (and the real players) have to operate as business as usual (unless something more league-wide is announced, which we of course hope not to be the case). In the grander fantasy scheme, early transfers due to training injuries is a more apt discussion.

Ah, I movie (and book!) I grew up on (think it came out when I was 13) -- Robert Shaw was fabulous. This movie had a direct hit on the summer beach industry in the USA, too!

Right. He had some great lines, and speeches. When I was 13, I was like: "Just show me the shark! I don't care about these speeches." Since then, I have seen this movie probably every 5 years, and all I care about are the 3-way arguments on the boat and Quint's speeches.

My man! I remember our rock discussion a couple of weeks back, too.

I dont know who Richard Shaw is, but I know the first guy. Pretty sure I remember seeing Dreyfuss in one too but I saw them as a kid and prefer Piranha 3D if only for Kelly Brook

Generational thing. Movie came out in 1975. Richard Shaw was an iconic (Irish?) actor who died relatively young. He was right there with Gene Hackman and other superb character A-list actors in the 1960s and 1970s.

By GW14 my team will look like this, my only issue is that the defence may be too light?

            DDG Elliot
            Kolarov Dawson Moreno Nyom Ward
            Sanchez KDB Bolasie Mahrez Hoolahan
            Aguero Lukaku Vardy
            £0.3m

I guess Kolarov will become an Arsenal defender once he starts getting rotated, but could also downgrade Hoolahan to a £4.5 in order to get a £5.2m defender.

I've been told it's okay to listen to but too boring to watch, so please give it a listen if you've got earphones and 10 mins free. Will make the next one a bit livelier but being from Stoke restricts my ability to be entertaining so I apologise!

            What is the winning move?

            1. Nf3 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 Bg7 4. d4 O-O 5. Bf4 d5 6. Qb3 dc4 7. Qc4 c6 8. e4 Nbd7 9. Rd1 Nb6 10. Qc5 Bg4 11. Bg5 11. Be2 followed by 12 O-O would have been more prudent. The bishop move played allows a sudden crescendo of tactical points to be uncovered by Fischer. -- Wade 11... Na4! 12. Qa3 On 12. Nxa4 Nxe4 and White faces considerable difficulties. 12... Nc3 At first glance, one might think that this move only helps White create a stronger pawn center; however, Fischer's plan is quite the opposite. By eliminating the Knight on c3, it becomes possible to sacrifice the exchange via Nxe4 and smash White's center, while the King remains trapped in the center. 13. bc3 Ne4 The natural continuation of Black's plan. 14. Be7 Qb6 15. Bc4 Nc3 16. Bc5 Rfe8 17. Kf1 Be6!! If this is the game of the century, then 17...Be6!! must be the counter of the century. Fischer offers his queen in exchange for a fierce attack with his minor pieces. Declining this offer is not so easy: 18. Bxe6 leads to a 'Philidor Mate' (smothered mate) with ...Qb5+ 19. Kg1 Ne2+ 20. Kf1 Ng3+ 21. Kg1 Qf1+ 22. Rxf1 Ne2#. Other ways to decline the queen also run into trouble: e.g., 18. Qxc3 Qxc5 18. Bb6 Bc4 19. Kg1 Ne2 20. Kf1 Nd4 This tactical scenario, where a king is repeatedly revealed to checks, is sometimes called a "windmill." 21. Kg1 Ne2 22. Kf1 Nc3 23. Kg1 ab6 24. Qb4 Ra4 25. Qb6 Nd1 26. h3 Ra2 27. Kh2 Nf2 28. Re1 Re1 29. Qd8 Bf8 30. Ne1 Bd5 31. Nf3 Ne4 32. Qb8 b5 Every piece and pawn of the black camp is defended. The white queen has nothing to do. 33. h4 h5 34. Ne5 Kg7 35. Kg1 Bc5 36. Kf1 Ng3 Now Byrne is hopelessly entangled in Fischer's mating net. 37. Ke1 Bb4 38. Kd1 Bb3 39. Kc1 Ne2 40. Kb1 Nc3 41. Kc1
