634x258 Suspensions

Southampton’s Graziano Pelle is the most high profile of this week’s Suspension Tightrope protagonists after collecting a fifth yellow card of the campaign in yesterday’s home loss to Stoke.

The Italian will now miss next weekend’s trip to the Etihad and, although he will return in time for a plum home clash against Villa in Gameweek 15, it’s fair to say the exodus is picking up pace – over 120,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have already parted company as we scramble to bring in the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Sergio Aguero.

Pelle earned a late caution for kicking the ball away as his barren run continued – he’s scored just once in the last five Gameweeks. Post-match, Ronaldo Koeman was unhappy over the Italian’s lack of self-restraint:

“It’s all about the frustration of the player. He was not playing well, he was not scoring and the team was not winning, but you have to control yourself always. That’s difficult, we know. But, okay, if it doesn’t happen today maybe it happens next week. It’s always a question if you are one booking from a suspension. It’s always when, when, when it happens. Okay, normally you have to control yourself. He knows. We know. We have to accept it and we will play another [number] nine next week.”

Pelle is one of six players to succumb to a one-match Tightrope ban so far. Liverpool will be devoid of Lucas’ services for their home encounter against Swansea next weekend. Swansea’s Jonjo Shelvey will also miss that Anfield encounter – handed the role in “the hole” at home to Bournemouth, the former Red bagged himself a goal and assist before earning his fifth yellow of the season.

Over at the Hawthorns, Tony Pulis has decisions to make at left-back after Chris Brunt picked up his fifth booking in the Baggies’ home win over Arsenal – the Northern Ireland international now misses next weekend’s trip to West Ham. Mark Noble will also be unavailable for that one after earning his fifth yellow in today’s loss at White Hart Lane, whilst Dele Alli will be absent as Spurs host Chelsea next weekend.

There are now 17 players on this week’s Tightrope, with Gameweek 13 handing us five new entries. Bournemouth playmaker Matt Ritchie, Leicester centre-half Robert Huth, Norwich’s Seb Bassong and Liverpool pair Emre Can and Nathaniel Clyne are the men in question.

Palace duo Wilfried Zaha and Yohan Cabaye, along with Sunderland’s Billy Jones, could yet topple of this week’s Tightrope – all three go into tomorrow’s night’s match at Slehurst Park on four yellows apiece.

In terms of newly-available players, Tottenham will welcome back Erik Lamela for next week’s trip to Stamford Bridge after the Argentine served a one-match ban at home to West Ham earlier today. West Brom will have Gareth McAuley available for their clash with the Hammers after the Irishman missed yesterday’s win over Arsenal.

Slaven Bilic’s side, meanwhile, will be without the services of James Collins once again – the Welshman serves the last of a three-match ban against the Baggies.

Not having Lukaku costing me in cash league. All above have him. 6th but will go 2nd if Bolasie gets double figures (wishful thinking)

I had no intention to get Kun soon but can afford FT this week. Do I get as differential to Lukaku and hope for the best?

Felt 3 would be Kun Vardy Kane

So even though my defence should have been priority I sold KDB and Ayoze to Ozil and Kane -4. Is it worth another -4 on Mane to Coutinho/Firmino? I could play or bench Mane and play Lingard to hold him for AVL the following week?

I just figured I know too little to use it now. I scored 78 points this GW and don't think it's a must to use it right now. Vardy, Lukaku and Kane will be my frontline for this GW at least and I think Southampton are a team that's able to cause City problems. Don't only worry is basically Aguero's price, but I'm sure I'll finda way, I got other players rising as well, so Aguero's rise makes no difference.

I just did KDB > Ozil half an hour ago.

In a bit of a pickle, advice would be great!

    Hennessey, Butland
    Moreno, Kolarov, Janmaat, Evans, Nyom
    Sanchez, KDB, Mane, Mahrez, Westwood
    Vardy, Pelle, Lukaku

    2ft. 4.5m in bank.

    Pelle -> Kun
    Mane -> Firmino
    Janmaat -> 4.5m defender (-4)

    How's this look?

What would you do? Thanks chaps. I'm leaning towards C but want Kun as well!!

KDB Alexis Mane Mahrez Gosling / Vardy Pelle Lukaku (3.3 ITB)

    A) Pelle > Kane
    B) Mane > Ozil
    C) Pelle Mane > Kane Ozil (--4)
    D) Pelle KDB Williams > Kun Ozil Moreno (-8)
    E) Other

I went for D) for my team, though swapped out Sanchez rather than KDB ( want to see what he can do with Aguero as he picks up fitness/form) - Kane is giving me headaches though, Lukaku got better fixtures and Vardy still on too good a streak so cant see space for him, but I may live to regret that.

    Need some opinions
Swapping Pelle and KDB out this week for Aguero + a mid.
Can do to Ozil but I already have Sanchez. Could also take a -4 and swap Pelle,KDB, Dawson> Aguero, Silva and Moreno. Also considering coutinho

Ozil is looking better for some points than Sanchez at the moment, though he could explode at any time.

Dont think KDB to SIlva worth it at the moment, but Coutinho or Eriksen look like good shouts at the moment.

I think Leceister will score, Vardy especially will be throwing everything he has to get that record for himself. KDB and Aguero is interesting one, but with state of City's defence VVD could also be in for potential attacking points so I would play him still.

I thought they survived when Connor Wickham started finding some form and won a few games for them. They could always manage it, seems a reasonable amount of competition for bottom place this year - Villa/Sunders/BOU/Newcastle/Norwich could all easily go down (and you never know Chelsea 😛 )

Shame I missed the Kane rise but this is such a tough call - time for a bit of a mini WC. Got it down to 4 scenarios, pick your favourite:

    A) Aguero, Lukaku, KDB, Mane, Alli
    B) Aguero, Lukaku, Sanchez, Mane, Gosling
    C) Aguero, Kane, KDB, Mane, Gosling
    D) Kane, Lukaku, Sanchez, KDB, Lanzini

Is Mane performing that well that definitely want him in? I would say something like two of Ozil/Cout/Eriksen be in for more points than KDB Mane - but A looks good for me, going for Kun and Luk myself.

First hit of the season and it's a -8...

Kolarov to Souare (not sure if I lost money on Kolarov rising)
    Pelle to Lukaku
    Ighalo to Kane

Not having the accessible, captainable explosive options in LuKane in the last few weeks has annihilated my rank. Moves done before the price changes.

Allowed me to retain my underachievers in Mane, Sanchez and KDB (plus Mahrez and Ozil).

    1. Ser Davos
      • 10 Years

I'm in the same boat about the destroyed rank. Choosing Pelle over Lukaku was the worst decision ever, and I kept holding on because of fixtures 🙁 - he's more to blame than Ighalo is, I shall be avoiding him like the plague from now on, I didn't learn from last season when he went off the boil as soon as I got him. Great moves. Who will you bench though (assuming Vardy is your 3rd striker)?

Cheers man, exactly the same situation so just looking for that reassurance from someone else in the same frustrating scenario.

Good question. I've got Mane on the bench for now...

        Sanchez Ozil KDB Mahrez
        Kane Lukaku Vardy

That is gonna be a headache until you downgrade one of the mids. Mane seems to make sense but if Kompany's still out I'd be tempted to bench Mahrez instead.

With Pelle out are we going to see Long up front or can Mané play there?

Mané could do but Long seems more likely.

Cheers, it could be a bit of moot point if Kompany and Fernandinho play this week.

Long. Mane would be a definite surprise.

    Thoughts on Ighalo v Lukaku.

Currently have Ighalo but have enough in the bank to transfer to Lukaku. Both have outstanding upcoming fixtures, Ighalo (avl NOR sun) Lukaku (bou CPL nor). My guess would be that Lukaku scores more over the period but is it worth the transfer?

    Current side is

    Butland Myhill
Bellerin Van Dijk Rose Moreno Jaanmat
    Sanchez KDB Ozil Mahrez Deulofeu
    Kane Vardy Ighalo

I think Ighalo could match Lukaku. Maybe.

I decided that Ighalo has a tendency to be on yours and/or other's benches, Watford don't score too many goals and Lukaku is an explosive captain option that is accessible and highly owned to boot.

That is a beautiful side mate. Great effort.

Nothing else is pressing, and Everton do have a greater goalscoring potential than Watford so I couldn't argue with that transfer, but I love having Ighalo because it just offers so much flexibility. I'd probably save, but I can see why you would make that transfer

That's the problem, both ways are more than reasonable. I think the extra captain potential for Lukaku might make me lean that way.

Yes, and he is on pens.

Your team is strong throughout, and it's a reasonable way to spend the available cash.

In doing so I presume that you have no plans to bring in Kun?

With the form of Kane Vardy Lukaku I don't get worth it tbh.

Who would you bench next week?

    Lanzini (WBA)
    Mahrez (MUN)
    KDB (SOU)

Lanzini seems the obvious pick, despite today's effort

Early thoughts on this people? (current front 3 are Kaku, Kane and Vardy)

A: Wijnaldum ---> Barkley. Bench Ayew
B: Wijnaldum ---> Cheapie mid, to create Aguero Money. Play Ayew
C: Save FT. Play Ayew or Wijnaldum

C, start WIjnaldum, unless you really want Kun this week, before he rises another .1 or .2

B; Keep Ayew, nailed and has 6 goals and 70 odd points, his fixtures aren't great admittedly; downgrade Wijnaldum to Arter, Surman, Gosling, Morrison etc

I own him too but would like to see him get in the box more often. Everton just seem to attack from distance rather than lay siege to the opposition box

yeah he seems to pick it up in deeper areas but very direct he will ghost past people and not scared to shoot.. 2 goals from inside the box at the weekend is hopefully a sign of things to come..

Yeah, strong poachers goals with late runs into the box. More of that would be nice

yeah, with Kone and Delofeu he has to be deep-lying but that ability to ghost past players and hit the box late is what makes him the man for the job.

very like Lampard in that respect arriving late in the box.. if he can return even half of what Frank did on a regular basis id be delighted

Down to him scoring in the first two GWs. Everyone was still playing at that point (apart from Sharon).

5 for the season now. Has a lot more licence this year, and it's great to see him doing something with it.

fantastic talent as a united fan id love to see us send Rooney packing in the summer and break the bank for him i really rate him.. has that ability to just go past players like they aren't there much like Rooney at that age..

hope he can continue to add more goals to his game he sure has the fixtures

Yeah, he has to be aiming for 15 goals a season. I've noticed some people get on his back pretty quickly. It's natural at his age to be searching for consistency in terms of influencing games but the range of things he CAN do is rarely found so I really hope to can consolidate that and add a few extra goals and so on.

So long as he is progressing, as an England fan, I'd be happy with him being the fulcrum at Everton for a season longer but I can hardly blame you for wanting to prose him away! Let's face it, United have the money to buy who the hell you like. If you can gut Everton of Stones and Barkley then you'd be foolish not to. Gets the English quota filled as well as adding to lovely footballers

He just seems to have that swagger about him not many central midfield players have that ability to beat people the way he does as well as being strong and good in the tackle.. love those types and probably explains why Gascoigne is one of my favourites of all time.. someone who could take the ball in the middle of the park and just destroy what was in front of him..

yep this is true although becoming very popular now with alot of active teams couple more goals next week and his ownership will go through the roof
