Southampton’s Graziano Pelle is the most high profile of this week’s Suspension Tightrope protagonists after collecting a fifth yellow card of the campaign in yesterday’s home loss to Stoke.

The Italian will now miss next weekend’s trip to the Etihad and, although he will return in time for a plum home clash against Villa in Gameweek 15, it’s fair to say the exodus is picking up pace – over 120,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have already parted company as we scramble to bring in the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Sergio Aguero.

Pelle earned a late caution for kicking the ball away as his barren run continued – he’s scored just once in the last five Gameweeks. Post-match, Ronaldo Koeman was unhappy over the Italian’s lack of self-restraint:

“It’s all about the frustration of the player. He was not playing well, he was not scoring and the team was not winning, but you have to control yourself always. That’s difficult, we know. But, okay, if it doesn’t happen today maybe it happens next week. It’s always a question if you are one booking from a suspension. It’s always when, when, when it happens. Okay, normally you have to control yourself. He knows. We know. We have to accept it and we will play another [number] nine next week.”

Pelle is one of six players to succumb to a one-match Tightrope ban so far. Liverpool will be devoid of Lucas’ services for their home encounter against Swansea next weekend. Swansea’s Jonjo Shelvey will also miss that Anfield encounter – handed the role in “the hole” at home to Bournemouth, the former Red bagged himself a goal and assist before earning his fifth yellow of the season.

Over at the Hawthorns, Tony Pulis has decisions to make at left-back after Chris Brunt picked up his fifth booking in the Baggies’ home win over Arsenal – the Northern Ireland international now misses next weekend’s trip to West Ham. Mark Noble will also be unavailable for that one after earning his fifth yellow in today’s loss at White Hart Lane, whilst Dele Alli will be absent as Spurs host Chelsea next weekend.

There are now 17 players on this week’s Tightrope, with Gameweek 13 handing us five new entries. Bournemouth playmaker Matt Ritchie, Leicester centre-half Robert Huth, Norwich’s Seb Bassong and Liverpool pair Emre Can and Nathaniel Clyne are the men in question.

Palace duo Wilfried Zaha and Yohan Cabaye, along with Sunderland’s Billy Jones, could yet topple of this week’s Tightrope – all three go into tomorrow’s night’s match at Slehurst Park on four yellows apiece.

In terms of newly-available players, Tottenham will welcome back Erik Lamela for next week’s trip to Stamford Bridge after the Argentine served a one-match ban at home to West Ham earlier today. West Brom will have Gareth McAuley available for their clash with the Hammers after the Irishman missed yesterday’s win over Arsenal.

Slaven Bilic’s side, meanwhile, will be without the services of James Collins once again – the Welshman serves the last of a three-match ban against the Baggies.

You got Deu, you don't want to bench him. Pelle to Kane if you can se your team w/o Aguero. Or Pelle to Aguero, and get a dead cheap MID for KdB or Sanchez to Ozil. I wouldn't get into a "who to bench" situation.

Seriously, people looking to get Aguero for Kane or Vardy need to calm down. Kane has scored by far the most PL-goal in 2015 than any other strikers. He's got the form, he's got the fix's, he's cheaper! Vardy has scored in ten games in a row! He's on fire! Last year he scored 21 points home to Man. Utd. He is dead cheap!

Have seen a couple of things on xG ratings lately haven't read into anywhere near enough, but from what I have read, I like the idea of not only taking into account SoT, but the quality of those shots to gain a better understanding for what we could expect from any given player.

I am wondering if anyone's tried this with assist potential as well? Probably a lot harder to model as a lot mare variables and relies on the xG (presumably) of the teams striker(s), but would give a much fuller picture of the FPL points potential for midfielders...

Or maybe I have no idea what I'm on about and should just keep my mouth shut...

In the google sheets doc you posted, I assume the SoT is cummulative over games to date? And an efficiency less than 1 suggest that an 'explosion' could be imminent?

Nothing like that sort , xG is more accurate long-term - difficult to predict short-term

Worst GW ever ! Dropped from 14K to 74K with 30pts.

I already did Pelle + Bony + Mane + KDB -> Aguero + Kane + Coutinho + Lingard for -8 with panic and anger. I am afraid I will use my WC in case of one injury or Coutinho not returning.

Now waiting for Bolasie (C) brace and Hennesey CS to save my GW, what pathetic!

So even though my defence should have been priority

I sold KDB and Ayoze to Ozil and Kane -4. Is it worth another -4 on Mane to Coutinho/Firmino?

I could play Mane or bench Mane and play Lingard to hold him for AVL the following week?

Man City just conceded 4 at the Emirates, Mane should be fine to play IMO. Also if Company still injured we all know what their backline is like.

Coutinho and/or Firmino good shouts however in front of a nice run of games.

Ok so with KDB dropping this week and Lukaku an Barkley rising again, I'll need to act fast. Worth doing Kdb and Ighalo to Lukaku and Barkley for -8? I'd like to wait out for ighalos fixtures but won't be able to afford it after drops/rises.

    1. Kurtinho
      • 11 Years

Not worth it imo. KdB and Ighalo could easily outscore the Everton duo this week, even without taking into account the hits.

    de Gea, Myhill
    Richards, Williams, Bellerin, Aldeweireld, Moreno
    KDB, Sanchez, Mahrez, Barkley, Ozil
    Vardy, Pelle, Lukaku

1 FT available and 0.6 ITB

Still can't make up my mind to sell KDB or Sanchez out to bring in Kun and Kane for Vardy & Lukaku

    A) KDB, Vardy, Pelle out for Stanislas, Kane, Kun
    B) Sancez, Vardy, Pelle out for Stanislas, Kane, Kun

If I go for A, I might have only 4.3 ITB
If I go for B, I get to upgrade Williams for Bertrand. Needed a defender from the Saints tho.

Kane for me. I'd be a little worried about gametime for Benteke with them doing so well without him

      Defence looks a bit weak.
I'd get rid of Francis and Evans for some cheaper, better options (like Simpson)
and then do Mane -> Ozil.
ARS has fantastic fixtures coming up.

Yeah, I think WBA is my biggest concern (Dawson + Myhill).

        Who's Toby?
        Maybe Dawson -> Rose ?

Does Bentekke not fit the Klopp style of football?
Is Christian looking at the door?

Too early to tell. He may just feel his fitness level isn't up to the new style of play yet

Klopp loves Benteke. He's always raving about him. He picked the lineup vs City because most of them were at Melwood for the break so he had a lot of time to work with them on the gameplan. Tekkers was away during this time. I expect him to be straight back in against Bordeaux and Swansea, replacing Lallana/Milner/Coutinho (depending on injury status).

Sturridge should be the one looking worried IMO.

I'm a pool fan so I watch a lot of Klopp interviews 🙂 there's one with him after the City match explaining his absence from the XI. He hinted that he's a key part of the squad and will be straight back in. Firmino isn't a long term option up front. The main question will be how Sturridge fits in.

You seem quite confident it won't be Firmino that misses out. Looking at his minutes he's always the one that seems to come off around 70-75 minute mark and has only reached that number twice in the last four.

Has something changed to make you think going forward he's more nailed? Lallana seems to have been doing well recently. Not sure about Milner.

I'm expecting Firmino to show his worth in the coming weeks and become undroppable like Coutinho. Lallana and Milner have been doing fine, but one of them will drop out for Benteke imo as they just don't have that end product required. Then it becomes interesting once Sturridge becomes fully fit..

            this imo.

Sturridge is never around for too long though so not to worry 😉

One thing for sure if everyone's fit there's some real competition for places there.
Fantastic result btw, I watched game and I was amazed how pool blew city off the park.

Yeah it'll be a strong looking bench once everyone is back fit, including Henderson. It was indeed fantastic. Similar feeling to those matches in the 12/13 season when we were demolishing the likes of Tottenham, Everton and Arsenal. The difference is that Klopp is more tactically astute so he'll be able to maintain that momentum better than Rodgers.

The reason Benteke didn't start was because he only had 4 days of training with them after Internationals. Firmino was back earlier and that's why.

Awful. Its clear as day that Sakho has to play through the middle. Some of our English players are unfortunately a bit second rate. Carroll is best used as an impact sub. Spurs are a good side. Where to start really?

Fair assesment, I think it's apparent now that Spurs have the potential now for that top 4 slot, they seem to be in the grove all round really.
Payet too looks a huge blow to ye.
