Harry Kane scores twice as Tottenham sweep aside West Ham at the Lane. Christian Eriksen serves up a pair of assists, whilst Manuel Lanzini bags his third goal in five outings for the beaten visitors.

Kane at the Double

Courtesy of a resounding 4-1 victory against West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur extended their unbeaten streak to 12 matches yesterday. Impressively, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are now the top scorers at home, with 15 goals, and they have recorded just two losses in their previous 20 ties at White Hart Lane.

Harry Kane’s 140,000 new owners were richly rewarded when he netted either side of the half. The 9.4-priced forward now has seven goals in his last four starts and 10 goals in 14 London derbies – which bodes well for a home clash against Chelsea next Gameweek. Moreover, Kane chalked up five more shots on target (13) than any other forward across the last four Gameweeks, underlining the form of Tottenham’s attack as a whole – incidentally, their 12 shots on target against the Hammers was the best of any team in a single match this term.

Spurs Defence Shows Attacking Edge

Spurs’ defence came up trumps for their other two goals. Toby Alderweireld scored with a near-post header and, along with Eric Dier, has netted twice this term – the Belgian’s ten attempts inside the box is more than any other defender in the top flight this term.

Kyle Walker notched his first goal in two years with a sublime finish and, at 5.0, continues to offer the cheapest route into Pochettino’s backline. In spite of their unbeaten run, though, Spurs are finding clean sheets hard to come by, with just a single shut-out in the last seven Gameweeks. Although Jan Vertonghen has yet to score, Alderweireld and Walker, along with Dier, present a strong claim for investment ahead of a relatively favourable end to the year (CHE, wba, NEW, sou, NOR, wat).

Eriksen in the Points

Christian Eriksen (8.4) put his name into the mid-priced hat with a brace of assists against the Hammers. The Danish playmaker lays claims to two goals and six assists in 10 outings and ranks second behind Mesut Ozil (19) for key passes (16) in the last four Gameweeks. Allied with his knack for crucial goals and free-kick proficiency, Eriksen should enjoy an increase on his modest 6% ownership as Spurs build momentum heading into the winter.

Dele Alli (5.0) highlighted his burgeoning potential as a budget midfielder – grabbing his third assist in six starts – but ended the afternoon on a sour note when he received a fifth yellow for ill-discipline, ruling him out of the Blues clash. Heung-Min Son also claimed an assist and excelled in his fourth Premier League start, casting doubt over Erik Lamela’s security of starts in the long-term. Nonetheless, both are likely to start next Gameweek in the wake of Alli’s suspension.

Lanzini Nets Hammers Consolation

The Irons’ heavy defeat at the hands of Spurs marked the first time they’ve conceded four on the road for two years. It was also their first head-to-head since Dimitri Payet sustained a serious ankle injury, inevitably raising concerns over West Ham’s ability to maintain their hitherto lofty standards in the Frenchman’s absence.

With Payet out of the picture, Manuel Lanzini justified the recent upturn in Fantasy interest by grabbing the visitors’ late consolation. Assisted by substitute Nikica Jelavic, the Argentine boasts three goals and an assist in the last five Gameweeks and is starting to emerge as a prime pick among the sub-5.5 midfielders. Afforded a central role in the number ten berth now that Payet is out of the picture, Lanzini will serve as their creative hub – potentially boosting his potential for attacking returns – though with clashes against West Brom, United and Stoke’s defences in the next three, Slaven Bilic’s side may find goals hard to come by.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is optimistic that the injury Philippe Coutinho picked up in the 4-1 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium is not as bad as first thought, as per Goal.

Basically you want Lukaku this week (I know people will say Chelsea are relegation fodder etc etc but I don't think Mourinho will let that one be high scoring. 1 nil either way IMO.) for Bournemouth, and then right after that Kane becomes the better pick when Lukaka plays chelsea and Man U in a row and Kane has wba NEW.

I think you just walk. We walked and walked, we did 101km on foot. We walked all through Christiania, and got nice and lost in the woods. We ended up finding the stunning opera house and then noticed there was a ferry to get back to the mainland. Jumped on that for free, walked some more.

Try not to drink much. The beer is indeed expensive as is most other things.
You'll get a table at lunch, try to be the first one there so book for noon, it makes the experience far superior.

Basically, you have no idea what you're going to get served when you arrive, you just sit down and the food just starts coming. The table next to us heard everything, so the element of surprise had gone for them, not for us. It really made a difference.

I brought in Barkley as my Payet replacement last week, I then proceeded to bench him and his 19 points in favour of Mane v Stoke.

Earlier this season, I had Wilson 1st sun when he scored his hattrick.

I also had Mahrez first sub when he hauled in 15 points.

Im now sitting 100 points behind my ML leaders, all of whom put much less effort into FPL than me.
I'm choosing to view it as needing to make up 4 points p/w over the next 35 GW's.

This week, Pelle ---> Aguero and Mane ---> Stanislas already done. No more benching headaches.

    GL ME!

It's not hindsight. I'd never bench an attacker like that at home to Villa. But in saying that, I just had a look at your front 8. Would've been tough benching any of those, so maybe the mistake was buying Barkley rather than benching him. At least you'll get his price rises 🙂 no offence intended btw.

          1. Krul Runnings
            • 10 Years
            10 years, 3 months ago

            None taken mate.

To be honest, I had planned to bench Payet v Spurs, before he got injured. So I told myself that I would replace Payet with a bench fodder in preparation to bring in KUN this week.

However, SANCHEZ, Vardy and others were flagged so I though I better replace Payet with a stronger player in case any of my 11 didn't start. Hence why I bought Barkley.

Then had to decide between him and Mane and got it horribly wrong.

Meh, I'm over it now. Just would like some rub of the green going forward.

You gave yourself a benching headache. No wonder you miss out on the points
I'm very much in favour of a 5th mid who won't get many points, but is guaranteed to play. It allows extra funding on the other 7, but means that if one doesn't play, you're guaranteed some points.
Also stops you kicking yourself on a Monday after a bad weekend

yeah that's the worry for me. I view Kolarov as a vastly superior player to Clichy and I'm sure Pellegrini does too. However he hasn't been that threatening attacking wise, and without Kompany their defence is hopeless.

Plus I'm always reluctant to spend up big on defence when the Danny Simpsons of the world can get you just the same points or better if rotated correctly...

        DDG - Butland

        Koscielny - Otamendi - Pieters - Smalling - Bertrand

        Ozil - Barkley - Ayew - Mahrez - Deulofeu

        Kane - Lukaku - Vardy

That's actually one hell of a team 😯

Hello guys! Which one would you prefer of these combinations:

    A) Dier, Barkley, Aguero
    B) Smalling, KDB, Vardy

If Spurs can stop conceding 1 goal every gw then A but I'd prefer Aguero, Smalling and one other

I broke my own rule last week and took a 4pt hit for B Davies to Simpson.

Spurs should focus on the Prem now that they have a genuine chance of top 4. EL is very hard to win and will really affect them long term I think - they don't have the depth.

Any Mane owners around? What are you doing with him?

His stats aren't awful, but he's been beyond useless since I got him in. Feels like a wasted midfield spot. I got Aguero in for free already - debating a -4 to get rid of Mane now.

Eriksen, Cout + Firmino on the radar, but not sure if it's worth a hit.

Model did alright this week. 🙂

Model Score/Rank for the GW----GW 13 FPL Points

            Kane: 17.40------ 13
            Ozil: 15.65---------8
            Vardy: 14.63------7
            Giroud: 12.31-----7
            Lukaku: 11.27---12
            .
            .
            Mane: 8.37--------1
            Sanchez: 7.84----1
            .

            .
            Pelle: 2.679-------1

Lukaku an obvious blip, but that's mainly down to Aston Villa's surprisingly decent defensive statistics, and the fact that at the end of the day it is a statistical model and has its own limitations

Nothing worth a hit. Good luck 🙂

Assuming no mid week injuries, would you prefer:

    A) Pelle & Hazard > Aguero & Barkley (-4)
    B) Pelle > Lukaku

It's so hard taking a hit for Hazard. I remain convinced he will come good. Class is permanent, and he is class.
